Instructions

The Gens Ace Imars Mini Charger is a smart charger designed for the Gens Ace G-Tech Smart Battery, which is also compatible with non-smart batteries. When the Gens Ace G-Tech battery is connected to the charger, the charger will automatically identify the battery type, voltage, and charging current recommended by the battery manufacturer, and then the charger will work according to the preset parameters. For non-smart batteries, it is necessary to manually select the type of battery and select the required working mode to get it started. The charger can intelligently adjust the charging current according to the charging voltage flow of the battery.

  1. When the charger is connected to the power supply, there is a power-on prompt tone, all the LED lights will light up in sequence. The lighting time of each LED light is about 0.5 seconds. LiPo’s battery-type light will be on after it. The default battery type after the charger is turned on is LiPo.
  2. In the idle state, short-press the CHARGE or STORAGE button to select the battery type. If a G-Tech Smart Battery is connected, the operation of button pressing will not change the battery type.
  3. When the G-Tech battery is connected, the charger will automatically recognize the battery information and automatically enter the smart charging mode after 5 seconds under the condition that both the discharge connector and the G-Tech balance connector are successfully connected. If you short-press any button within 5 seconds, it will cancel the charging mode. If you still want to enter the charging or storage mode after canceling the smart charging mode, you must press and hold the corresponding function button for 2 seconds.
  4. When connecting a non-smart battery, under the condition that the discharge connector and the balance connector are successfully connected, if you need to enter the charging mode, firstly short press any key to select the battery type, for lithium batteries, then you need to press and hold the CHARGE button for 2 seconds, but for NiMH batteries, you need to simultaneously press and hold the CHARGE and STORAGE buttons for 2 seconds to start the charging mode. After successfully entering the charging mode, the charger will beep, and the charging indicator light will flash at a frequency of 1Hz. The charger does not need to set the charging current. The charger will intelligently adjust the charging current to a suitable charging current according to the battery voltage fluctuation. During the charging process, the battery capacity indicator light will display the current real-time battery status. The charger will beep when the battery is fully charged, and the charging indicator light will remain on.
  5. When connecting a non-smart battery, under the condition that the discharge connector and the balance connector are successfully connected. Suppose you need to enter the storage mode, firstly short press any key to select the battery type, then press and hold the STORAGE button for 2 seconds to start the storage mode. After successfully entering the storage mode, the charger will beep, and the storage indicator light will flash at a frequency of 1Hz. The battery capacity indicator light will show the current real-time battery status during the storage process. When the battery storage is completed, the charger will beep, and the storage indicator light will remain on.
  6. When the charger is in any working mode. Suppose you need to cancel the corresponding working mode. You need to press and hold the CHARGE or STORAGE button for 2 seconds. After the cancellation is successful, the charger will beep, the charger will return to the idle state, and the battery capacity indicator light, charging indicator light, and the storage indicator light will turn off.

Troubleshooting

When the charger fails, the charger will beep, the red warning light in the upper right corner of the charger will be on, and the battery capacity indicator will flash. The capacity indicator displays corresponding to different faults are shown in the following table. Short press the CHARGE or STORAGE button to clear the alert. If the warning sign persists, please disconnect the battery from the charger.

Fault display Fault description
25% capacity light flashing/The first light flashing When the charger is

idle, the output is reversed (the charging connector is reversed or the balance connector is reversed)
50% capacity light flashing/The second light flashing| After the charger starts charging or storing, the connection is abnormal (the charging connector is off or the balance connector is off)
75% capacity light flashingf The third light flashing| After the charger starts charging or storing, the charger has over-temperature protection
100% capacity light flashing/The fourth light flashing| After the charger starts charging or storing, the power supply is abnormal or the input is unstable
25%+50% capacity light flashing/The left 2 lights flashing| After the charger starts charging, any of the following conditions occur:
1. Large voltage difference between cells
2. The difference between the sum of the voltages detected by the balance port and the total voltage detected by the charging main port is too large
3. The battery is severely low voltage
The charger will not allow charging in the above situation.
50%+75% capacity light flashing/The
right 2 lights flashing| An error other than the above type occurs after the charger starts up. E.g.:
1. Wrong battery type
2. The battery voltage exceeds the full voltage of the selected battery type
3. Selected LiPo battery type but actually plugged in a NiMH battery
4. Select the STORAGE storage function after connecting the NiMH battery
The charger will not allow charging in the above situation

Firmware upgrade

Firmware upgrade steps:

  1. Hold the STORAGE button. Wait to release it until you hear BEEP on step 3.
  2. Connect the USB-C update cable to the charger, and connect another end to the USB-A port of the PC.
  3. The charger will beep after successfully entered to firmware update mode.
  4. Please use the Upgrade Firmware supplied by the manufacturer to upgrade the firmware.
Unplug the charger to exit the upgrade mode.

Notice: DC input port supports fast charging protocol: QC/PD/BC1.2/TYPE-C V1.4/SDP/CDP/DCP/Apple 5V/2.4A (does not support 5V/1A adapter input)
Notice: This upgrade firmware only supports win7/win10 system
