Getting Started:

Set Up Your Amazon Smart Sticky Note Printer

Use the Alexa app to set up your Amazon Smart Sticky Note Printer.

Tip:  Before setup, download or update the Alexa app in your mobile device’s app store. Make sure your printer is near an Alexa-enabled device to complete setup.

  1. Insert the paper roll in the printer. For details on how to load the paper, go to the Amazon Smart Sticky Note Printer Quick Start Guide.
  2. Plug in the printer.
  3. Open the Alexa app  .
  4. Open More  and select Add Device.
  5. Select Printer.
  6. Select Amazon as the printer brand.
  7. Select Amazon Smart Sticky Note Printer, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete Wi-Fi setup in the Alexa app.
  8. After you add your device in the Alexa app, go to your nearby Alexa-enabled device and say “Discover my printer.”
  9. A note prints with more information on how to use your printer.

If you purchased your Smart Sticky Note Printer as a gift, you can forward this guide to your gift recipient to help them with set up!

1. Install the paper roll

Peel the safety sticker off the printer and press the eject button to open the printer door. Load the paper roll as shown above, paying attention to the orientation of the roll. Make sure that the end of the paper roll is sticking out of the slot on your printer before you close it.

2. Plug in and connect your printer

Place your printer within 30 feet of a compatible Echo device and plug the printer into a power outlet using the included adapter.
Your printer will try to connect to your home wifi network using your stored credentials. It may take a few minutes to connect to your home wifi.

When you plug in your printer, it should print the above message

If the printer successfully connects to your home wifi, it should print the above message.

3. Pair your printer with your Echo

Once your printer’s LED action button turns solid blue, finish set-up by saying “Alexa, discover my printer.” You’re now ready to make your first print! You can check your printer is paired by saying “Alexa, print a test page.”

If your printer cannot connect to your home wifi network automatically

If your printer cannot connect to your home wifi, it will print the message shown below. Please note: You will need to use the Alexa app on an Android phone / iPhone 7 (or later)* for setup.

Add your printer using the Alexa app

Make sure that you have the latest version of the Alexa app on your phone. In the app, tap the ‘More’ icon, then Add a Device>Printer.
Choose ‘Amazon’ on the next screen. You can now follow the on-screen directions to connect your printer to your home wifi.

*Setting up your printer using an Apple iPhone 6s or earlier is not possible

5. Pair your printer with Alexa

Your printer will now print the message above. Once your printer’s LED action button turns blue, finish set-up by saying “Alexa, discover my printer.” You’re now ready to make your first print! You can check your printer is paired by saying “Alexa, print a test page.”

Troubleshooting:

All my prints are blank

The paper roll may be installed incorrectly. Remove and re-insert it, paying particular attention to the orientation of the paper. Make sure that the sticky side faces up (see diagram at top of page).

My Prints are spotty, streaky or faded

If your printouts have vertical stripes, are spotty or faded, clean the
printer heads. Click here to see a video showing how to do it.
1. Unplug your printer and allow it to cool down.
2. Open the printer and remove the paper roll.
3. Locate the printer heads and gently wipe them with a clean, dry cloth.
4. Replace the paper roll and close the printer.
5. Plug in your printer.

Alexa didn’t discover my printer
Ensure the LED action button on your printer is solid blue and try to
discover the printer again by saying “Alexa, discover my printer”.
You can also try discovery via the Alexa App (Devices> Add> Printer>
Other> Discover Devices). To pair your printer, you MUST have a
compatible Echo device.
Be sure your Echo device is:
Powered ‘On’
On the same Wi-Fi network (SSID) as the printer
Registered to the same Amazon account as the printer
Your printer is compatible with all Echo devices EXCEPT: Echo (1st Gen), Echo Dot (1st Gen), Echo Plus (1st Gen), Echo Dot Kids Edition, Echo Spot, or Amazon Tap.
You cannot pair the printer using the Alexa app alone.

I have more than one printer – how do I control which one Alexa uses?

Some print types (such as voice notes) are automatically routed to your Smart Sticky Note Printer. You can direct all prints to the printer of your choice by disabling the other printer(s) using the Alexa App.

What Do the Lights on Your Amazon Smart Sticky Note Printer Mean?

The lights on your Amazon Smart Sticky Note Printer are how the device communicates its status.

Tip:  To print a note with a guide to the LED action button, press the LED action button on your printer.

Blue

  • Before setup is complete: If you haven’t completed the set up of your printer, a blue light means that the printer is ready for Alexa to discover and complete set up. To complete set up, say “Discover my printer” to a nearby Alexa-enabled device.
  • After setup is complete: If your printer is already set up, a blue light means that your printer is ready to use.

Orange

  • Your printer is in setup mode. Try using the Alexa app to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network. Open the Alexa app   > select Devices  > select Plus , and then add your printer.

Flashing Orange

  • Your printer is trying to connect to the Internet. To see if your Wi-Fi network is connected, press the LED action button two times. A note will print with the internet connection status of your printer.

Red

  • A paper error. Open the printer lid and make sure there’s paper in the printer. Check that the paper is loaded correctly, then close the lid.

Flashing Red

  • The printer head is overheated. All printing stops until the printer cools down. The printer starts working automatically once it’s cooled down in about 30 seconds.

Note: If no light is showing on your printer, make sure that the printer is plugged in and the paper roll is loaded correctly.

Your Amazon Smart Sticky Note Printer prints blank sticky notes.

If your paper is printed as blank, check that the paper roll is inserted correctly.

  1. Press down on the printer’s eject button. The printer’s lid will pop open.
  2. Lift up the lid and remove the paper roll.
  3. Reload the paper roll into the printer with the sticky side facing the lid.
  4. Extend the paper beyond the lid and close it. The non-sticky side should face towards the LED action button on the front of the printer. You’ll hear a click sound when it’s fully closed.
Using Multiple Printers with Alexa

You can have multiple printers connected to Alexa.

The type of content you’re printing determines which printer is used. Here are some examples:

HP, Brother, Canon, and Epson printers print:

  • Lined paper
  • Graph paper
  • Crosswords

Amazon Smart Sticky Note printer prints:

  • Sudoku puzzles
  • Notes
  • To-do lists
  • Shopping lists
  • Custom lists
  • Mazes

Tip:  If you want to only print to one printer with Alexa, you can remove or disable all other printers from the Alexa app. For instructions go to: Manage Your Printer with Alexa.

Manage Your Printer with Alexa

Use the Alexa app to connect, disconnect, or remove your printer with Alexa.

Tip:  Set up your printer with Alexa by saying, “Discover my printer.” Alexa attempts to connect to all printers on your Wi-Fi network.

  1. Open the Alexa app  .
  2. Open More   and select Add Device.
  3. Select All Devices, and then select your printer.
  4. Disable your printer from the Alexa app by turning Enabled on or off. To remove your printer, select Trash  .

Note: Alexa works with most IPP-enabled network connected printers manufactured by HP, Brother, Canon, and Epson.

Reset Your Amazon Smart Sticky Note Printer

Try resetting your printer if it isn’t working, stopped responding to Alexa commands, or to reconfigure your Wi-Fi.

Tip:  Restart your printer first to see if it resolves the problem. To restart, unplug the printer from the outlet and plug it back in.

  1. Remove your printer from the Alexa app.   Select Devices  > All Devices > Amazon Smart Sticky Note Printer > Settings  > Trash .
  2. Remove the paper roll from the printer.
  3. Press the LED action button for about 30 seconds until you hear a double buzzer sound.
  4. Insert the paper roll in the printer.
  5. When the light starts blinking blue, the printer is ready for setup.

Tip:  To ensure your Amazon Smart Sticky Note Printer prints at the highest quality, clean the printer head between each paper roll replacement.

If your printouts have vertical stripes, are spotty or faded, clean the printer heads.
