Installation
Wire Device
L2 WiFi Water Sensor and Switch can be wired to 24V equipment, so that when
water is sensed, the sensor either opens or closes a circuit. Typical
applications include preventing HVAC condensation pan overflow, turning on
water pump when water is sensed, etc.
Connect wiring as shown in the following wiring diagram. For additional
diagrams, scan the QR code at the right. Wires may be extended if needed using
provided wiring nuts.
Wiring Functions
Wires | Color | Description | Wire Function |
---|---|---|---|
Red | 24V Power Supply | Device Supply | |
Black | Power Supply GND | Device Supply | |
White | Normally Open | Dry Contact | |
Orange | Normally Closed | Dry Contact | |
Green | Common | Dry Contact |
Wiring Example
L2 locks out heating/cooling when wet.
- C wire is optional or not used on some thermostats.
- The W, Y, G, etc. wires match as normal from thermostat to HVAC.
- If display powered by C, thermostat will be blank during lockout. If thermoset is WiFi it will not be accessible on app during lockout.
Note: Use caution if locking out heating in locations in which pipes
could freeze.

Placement and Sensing
** Do not submerge sensor in water
Wall Mounting
Device can be installed on a wall while using the optional cable sensor.
Floor Placement
Device can be placed on the floor using the on-device water sensing contacts
and the optional cable sensor.
Note: For WiFi operation, device cannot be mounted inside a metal box.
Placement and Sensing Continued…
Optional Cable Sensor
To install the cable sensor, remove the plug at the bottom of the device and
plug in the cable sensor.
Accessory cable sensors (WLD3CABLE sold separately) can be connected to extend
the cable and increase water sensing area. The entire length of the cable is a
water sensor.
Note: The cable sensor jack is NOT for plugging in an adaptor. Doing so
could damage the water sensor. Test Mode
Press the sensor’s button three times. The LED should start blinking red.
In test mode, alarm sounds and switches change position. (Switch for Orange
and Green wires open. Switch for White and Green wires closed.)
To return to normal function, press the reset button 3 more times.
Test mode will not function during an active alarm or a firmware update.
When a Leak is Detected
To Silence Alerts
Press the sensor’s button or tap the mute button in the app to mute the siren.
After you’ve addressed the cause of the alert, remove sensor and cable sensor
from water and wipe dry. Lighting Functions**
