NV2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD
Substantial performance upgrade in high capacity.

Kingston’s NV2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD is a substantial next-gen storage solution powered by a Gen 4×4 NVMe controller. NV2 delivers read/write speeds up to 3,500/2,800MB/s1 with lower power requirements and lower heat to help optimize your system’s performance and deliver value without sacrifice. The compact single-sided M.2 2280 (22x80mm) design expands storage up to 2TB2 while saving space for other components, making NV2 ideal for thinner notebooks, small form factor (SFF) systems, and DIY motherboards.

Available in capacities from 250GB – 2TB2 to give you all the space you need for applications, documents, photos, videos, and more.

This SSD is designed for use in desktop and notebook computer workloads and is not intended for Server environments.

  1. Based on “out-of-box performance” using a PCIe 4.0 motherboard. Speed may vary due to host hardware, software, and usage.
  2. Some of the listed capacity on a Flash storage device is used for formatting and other functions and thus is not available for data storage. As such, the actual available capacity for data storage is less than what is listed on the products. For more information, go to Kingston’s Flash Memory Guide at kingston.com/flashguide.
  3. Total Bytes Written (TBW) is derived from the JEDEC Client Workload (JESD219A).
  4. Limited warranty based on 3 years or “Percentage Used” which can be found using the Kingston SSD Manager
(Kingston.com/SSDManager). For NVMe SSDs, a new unused product will show a Percentage Used value of 0, whereas a product that reaches its warranty limit will show a Percentage Used value greater than or equal to one hundred (100). See Kingston.com/wa for detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it backward compatible with PCI 3?

Yes, PCIe is both forwards and backward-compatible. For example, this gen 4 NVMe SSD will work in a gen 3 PCIe slot, and a gen 3 NVMe SSD would also work in a gen 4 PCIe slot. Do note however that speeds will typically be reduced in doing this as Gen 3×4 can only go up to 4000MB/s or 4GB/s. This will NOT AFFECT this particular drive as it caps out at 3500MB/s anyways, but most Gen 4 NVMe SSDs start at around 5000MB/s now.

Is this drive compatible with an Asus gl752v?

The best I can tell from research online, this drive will not work with your laptop. The quote I found on the ASUS forums stated “In the G752 manual, it states that the M.2 port will not work with SATA”.

Is it compatible with ps5?

Sort of, the PS5 specs say a drive should be 5,500MB/s but any PCIe 4.0 drive will work if you ignore the warning. If games start to demand higher speed gameplay could be compromised to some extent.

Does it come with the screw for the motherboard?

Yes…Amazon has some very cool finned coolers for these, they come with mounting screws…this is the one I bought: MHQJRH M.2 2280 SSD (green color), which has thermal pads for both sides.

Is it compatible with rog strix z390-f gaming?

Yes. That motherboard supports the M key and 2280 form factor. That particular motherboard is PCIe 3.0, which is limited to 3500MB/s, but since this drive’s rated speed is 3500MB/s, you won’t notice any difference in not having PCIe 4.0. NVMe drives are backward compatible as long as the key fits your socket.

How fast is Kingston NV2?

Kingston’s NV2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD is a substantial next-gen storage solution powered by a Gen 4×4 NVMe controller. NV2 delivers read/write speeds up to 3,500/2,800MB/s 1 with lower power requirements and lower heat to help optimize your system’s performance and deliver value without sacrifice.

Is NV2 worth it?

The Kingston NV2 is one of those SSDs that is just too good to be true. The price is exceptional, especially at 2TB, and it is sold as a PCIe 4.0 drive. Yet it has no definitive hardware inside and its performance for both of our samples is distinctly bottom of the barrel.

Does Kingston NV2 need a heatsink?

The Kingston NV2 is the answer for budget PCIe 4.0 M. 2 SSD storage that carries the PCIe 3.0’s price tag and can be used without a heatsink, but there’s a caveat to it. The NV2 is built around the Phison E21T PCIe 4.0 DRAM- less controller and uses a 112-layer BiCS5 TLC NAND flash.

What is the limit of Kingston SSD?

All current Kingston SSDs feature over-provisioning, and the capacities are 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, 960GB, 1.92TB, and 3.84 TB.

Does Kingston SSD need drivers?

There is no special driver for the Kingston SSD drive, despite the installation error. On the Kingston website, there is an SSD manager utility and a couple of possible firmware updates for the drive. If you haven’t already updated the firmware you probably should.
