USER INSTRUCTIONS & SAFETY TIPS
The Case Prep Duo can be used with most 8-32 threaded reloading tools to chamfer, clean, and deburr cases. It can also be used as an electric screwdriver. Please read and understand this user manual prior to operating this tool. Use this tool and its charging unit and accessories only for the specified range of applications. All other applications are expressly excluded.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- For your own safety read this manual carefully before using the Case Prep Duo.
- Use caution around moving parts and sharp tools.
- Before screwing into a wall, make sure there are no utilities behind the wall (electrical lines, gas lines, water supply lines, etc.).
- Before setting down the Case Prep Duo, make sure all moving parts have come to a stop.
- Avoid frequent stalling when screwing as this could damage the batteries.
- Only charge the Case Prep Duo battery with the included charging device.
- Do not use in wet locations.
- When not in use, store in a cool and dry location.
- To protect the batteries from damage, never expose them to temperatures above 120ºF (50ºC).
- Do not wear loose clothing when operating.
- Tie back long hair when operating.
- Chamfer tools are very sharp. Use caution when operating or removing tools.
Warning: Do not short-out the contacts of the battery or charger. Do not throw the battery in a fire.
CHARGING
Before using this tool you must charge the battery. Charging the battery:
- Insert power supply plug into the power jack on the driver handle (fig. 1).
- Plug AC adaptor into a standard wall outlet.
- While charging, the LED light on the handle will illuminate red. When fully charged, the light will turn off. (A full charging cycle requires approximately 5 hours.)
- The power supply should be unplugged from the wall and Case Prep Duo when charging is complete.
- For optimum battery life, always recharge the battery before it is fully discharged.
- The Lithium battery can remain fully charged for up to 2 months when not in use.
ATTENTION!
To avoid the risk of overheating, do not exceed the maximum charging time of 8
hours.
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS – IMPORTANT!
- The battery needs to be charged before its first use.
- Only after several charge and discharge cycles will the battery reach and maintain full capacity.
- The battery may become warm while charging. This is normal and does not indicate a problem.
- Before using the tool, unplug the charger and disconnect the tool from the charger.
USING THE CASE PREP DUO AS A SCREWDRIVER
The driver chuck is compatible with most 1/4″ hex shank bits. Because the
tools are retained in the chuck by magnetic force, the chuck is only
compatible with iron and iron based magnetic alloys (steel).
To insert a tool in the chuck, simply insert the tool until it is firmly
seated.
Check the tool to make sure it is engaged with the magnet. Remove tools by
pulling them straight out of the chuck.
The rotation of the tool is operated by a single forward/reverse switch (2).
Pressing the “F” button will cause the ¼” hex shaft to rotate clockwise.
Pressing the “R” button will cause the ¼” hex shaft to rotate counter-
clockwise.
When possible, securely clamp the item you are working on to a firm stationary
surface to reduce the chance of injury.
USING THE CASE PREP DUO WITH THE 2-SPINDLE ADAPTOR
The Case Prep Duo is designed to accept accessory tool adaptors to expand the
use of the tool. The ID and OD chamfer tools can be used to chamfer and deburr
cases. Other accessories including brushes, primer pocket cleaners, etc., can
be purchased separately.
INSTALLING A SPINDLE ADAPTOR
- Remove protective rubber cover with a slight wiggle (fig. 2).
- Select desired driving Adaptor and angle position, and push onto the locking coupler (fig. 3).
- To remove driving Adaptor, rotate lock collar and pull Adaptor gently until released.
When using the 2-spindle adaptor, the gears in the adaptor reverse rotation.
IMPORTANT – When using the 2-Spindle Adaptor and the chamfer tools, the driver must be in the “R” or reverse direction.
GRIP REPOSITIONING
The Case Prep Duo is designed to be used as a handheld or bench top tool. The integrated rubber feet provide a non-slip base for benchtop use. The step in the front foot allows the tool to be placed over the edge of a work bench.
CONVERTING THE GRIP ANGLE
While holding the grip of the Case Prep Duo, press the lock button on the main body and rotate the grip and body section 180 degrees. The lock button should snap into position after rotating, securing the grip in the new orientation.
