EXT3-U-KIT Product Information

The EXT3-U-KIT is a USB extender kit that allows for the extension of USB devices and audio signals over long distances. The kit includes an EXT3-U-T USB transmitter and an EXT3-U-R USB receiver, as well as necessary cables and brackets for mounting.

Installation Instructions

Usage Instructions

Once the EXT3-U-KIT is installed and connected, it is ready for use. Follow these steps to use the product:

  1. Ensure that all devices are switched off before connecting them to the EXT3-U-T or EXT3-U-R
  2. Connect input devices to the transmitter unit and output devices to the receiver unit using USB and/or audio cables
  3. Power on all devices
  4. Use the RS-232 serial extension to remotely control devices as needed
  5. Disconnect all devices and power off the units when finished using the EXT3-U-KIT

Get to know your EXT3-U-KIT
Mount EXT3-U-KIT

Install EXT3-U-KIT using one of the following methods:

  • Attach the rubber feet and place the unit on a flat surface.
  • Fasten a bracket (included) on each side of the unit and attach it to a flat surface (see www.kramerav.com/downloads/EXT3-U-KIT).
  • Mount the unit in a rack using the recommended rack adapter (see www.kramerav.com/product/EXT3-U-KIT).
  • Ensure that the environment (e.g., maximum ambient temperature & air flow) is compatible for the device.
  • Avoid uneven mechanical loading.
  • Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used for avoiding overloading of the circuits.
  • Reliable earthing of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained.
  • Maximum mounting height for the device is 2 meters.
Connect inputs and outputs

Always switch OFF the power on each device before connecting it to your EXT3-U-T / EXT3-U-R.

Devices that are connected to the EXT3-U-R USB ports are powered/charged while connected. Only 9600 baud rate is supported for RS-232 communication for both EXT3-U-T and EXT3-U-R.

Wiring the RJ-45 Connectors
This section defines the TP pinout, using a straight pin-to-pin cable with RJ-45 connectors.

It is recommended that the cable ground shielding be connected/soldered to the connector shield. To achieve specified extension distances, use the recommended Kramer cables available at www.kramerav.com/product/EXT3-U-KIT. Using third-party cables may cause damage!

Connect power

Connect the power cord to EXT3-U-T and EXT3-U-R and plug it into the mains electricity.

Caution:

  • For products with relay terminals and GPI\O ports, please refer to the permitted rating for an external connection, located next to the terminal or in the User Manual.
  • There are no operator serviceable parts inside the unit.

Warning:

  • Use only the power cord that is supplied with the unit.
  • Disconnect the power and unplug the unit from the wall before installing.
