Product Usage Instructions

Before Use
  1. Review the user manual and follow all safety instructions.
  2. Ensure that the battery is fully charged before use.
  3. Mount the dust extraction adaptor and box.
  4. Install the sanding belt and adjust the belt tension before use.

Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on the device using the on/off switch.
  2. To change the belt speed, use the speed control button. The LED indicators will show the current speed setting.
  3. Use the device to sand or grind materials as needed, keeping the device moving in a back-and-forth motion.
  4. When finished, turn off the device and remove the battery pack.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  1. Always remove the battery pack before cleaning.
  2. Clean the device and sanding belt regularly using a soft cloth or compressed air.
  3. Inspect the device for damaged or worn parts and replace them as needed.

Proper use

The cordless belt grinder/sander is designed for grinding/sanding wood, iron, plastic and similar materials using the appropriate grinding/sanding belt.
The equipment is to be used only for its prescri-bed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. The user / operator and not the manufacturer will be liable for any damage or inju-ries of any kind caused as a result of this.

Please note that our equipment has not been de-signed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Our warranty will be voided if the machine is used in commercial, trade or industrial businesses or for equivalent purposes.

Keep the noise emissions and vibrations to a minimum.

Caution: Residual risks
Even if you use this electric power tool in accordance with instructions, certain resi-dual risks cannot be rules out. The following hazards may arise in connection with the equipment’s construction and layout:

  1. Lung damage if no suitable protective dust mask is used.
  2. Damage to hearing if no suitable ear protection is used.
  3. Health damage is caused by hand-arm vibrations if the equipment is used over a prolonged period or is not properly guided and maintained.

Before starting the equipment

Warning: Always remove the battery pack before making adjustments to the equipment.

Dust extraction

Installing the dust extractor adapter (Figure 2/Item 8)

  • Slide the dust extractor adapter (8) onto the con-nection for the dust extractor (6).
  • You can then connect a suitable dust extractor (a) to the dust extractor adapter (8) (dust extractor not supplied).
  • This will provide excellent dust extraction on the workpiece.
  • Check that all the parts are properly connected.
  • Important. The vacuum cleaner you use for the extraction work must be suitable for the workpiece material.

Fitting the dust collection box
Slide the dust collection box (7) onto the connection for the dust extraction box (6). To remove the dust collection box, proceed in reverse order.
The dust is transferred straight from the grinding/sanding belt into the dust collection box.
To empty the dust collection box (7), open it with clip (a). The top part of the dust collection box (7) can now be removed. Then clean the dust collection box (7) thoroughly and place the top part back in position. As you do so, make sure that the top part is fully inserted all around and that the clip (a) is locked into position.
The dust collection box (7) can now be refi tted.
Important: For health reasons it is imperative that you use the dust collection box or a dust extraction system via the dust extractor adapter!

Changing the grinding/sanding belt

  • Pull the clamping lever (9) outwards in order to release the tension from the grinding/san-ding belt.
  • Pull the worn grinding/sanding belt off the drive rollers (11).
  • Push the new grinding/sanding belt onto the drive rollers.
  • Make sure that the running direction of the grinding/sanding belt (see arrow on the inside of the grinding/sanding belt) is the same as the running direction of the cordless belt grin-der/sander.
  • Press the clamping lever (9) to the rear in or-der to tension the grinding/sanding belt.

Adjusting the belt running position

  • Hold the cordless belt grinder/sander so that the grinding/sanding plate is at the top.
  • Switch on the cordless belt grinder/sander.
  • Turn the setting screw (10) to adjust the belt running position such that the grinding/ sanding belt runs centrally on the two drive rollers.

Starting up

Switching ON/OFF

To switch on:
Press the ON/OFF switch (5).

Continuous operation:
Secure the switch (5) with the locking button (4).

To switch off :
Press the ON/OFF switch (5) briefl y.
The machine can be operated on a temporary or permanent setting.

Setting the belt speed You can select the belt speed by turning the set- ting knob (3).

PLUS direction:
Increase belt speed

MINUS direction
Reduce belt speed

FIG-10 You can use the cordless belt grinder/sander in stationary mode.
To do so, use two screw clamps to fasten the cordless belt grinder/sander on a strong and level worktop or similar. The two fastening points (b) must be used for this purpose.

Charging the Li battery pack

  1. Remove the battery pack (c) from the handle, pressing the pushlock button (d) downwards to do so.
  2. Check that your mains voltage is the same as that marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. Insert the power plug of the charger (e) into the mains socket outlet. The green LED will then begin to fl ash.
  3. Push the battery pack onto the battery charger.
    In section 10 (Charger indicator) you will fi nd a table with an explanation of the LED indicator on the charger.

If the battery pack fails to charge, check for the following:

  • voltage at the power socket
  • whether there is good contact at the charging contacts of the charging unit

If the battery pack still fails to charge, send

  • the charger and charging adapter
  • and the battery pack to our customer service center.

To ensure that items are properly packaged and delivered when you send them to us, please contact our customer service or the point of sale at which the equipment was purchased.

When shipping or disposing of batteries and cordless tools, always ensure that they are packed individually in plastic bags to prevent short circuits and fi res.

To ensure that the battery pack provides long ser-vice, you should take care to recharge it promptly. You must recharge the battery pack when you notice that the performance of the device drops. Never allow the battery pack to become fully di-scharged. This will cause it to develop a defect.

All 3 LEDs are lit:
The battery is fully charged.

2 or 1 LED(s) are lit:
The battery has an adequate remaining charge.

1 LED blinks:
The battery is empty, recharge the battery.

All LEDs blink:
The battery temperature is too low. Remove the battery from the equipment, keep it at room tem-perature for one day. If the fault reoccurs, this me-ans that the rechargeable battery has undergone exhaustive discharge and is defective. Remove the battery from the equipment. Never use or charge a defective battery.

Instructions for use
Warning! The workpiece you want to grind or sand must never be held in your hand. Secure the workpiece on a sturdy surface or with a vise.

  • Allow the cordless belt grinder/sander to start running before you place it on the workpiece.
  • Do not switch off the cordless belt grinder/sander while it is still touching the workpiece.
  • Always hold the cordless belt grinder/sander with both hands while it is running.
  • Always grind or sand wooden workpieces in the direction of the grain.

Cleaning, maintenance and ordering of spare parts

Hazard Always pull out the battery pack before starting any cleaning work.

Cleaning

  • Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
  • We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
  • Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could at-tack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensu-re that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.

Maintenance

There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.

Disposal and recycling

The equipment is supplied in packaging to pre-vent it from being damaged in transit. The raw materials in this packaging can be reused or recycled. The equipment and its accessories are made of various types of material, such as metal and plastic. Never place defective equipment in your household refuse. The equipment should be taken to a suitable collection center for proper disposal. If you do not know the whereabouts of such a collection point, you should ask in your local council offi ces.

Storage

Store the equipment and accessories in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 30 °C. Store the electric tool in its original pa-ckaging.

For EU countries only
Never place any electric power tools in your household refuse.
To comply with European Directive 2012/19/EC concerning old electric and electronic equipment and its implementation in national laws, old elec-tric power tools have to be separated from other waste and disposed of in an environment-friendly fashion, e.g. by taking to a recycling depot.

Recycling alternative to the return request:
As an alternative to returning the equipment to the manufacturer, the owner of the electrical equipment must make sure that the equipment is properly disposed of if he no longer wants to keep the equipment. The old equipment can be returned to a suitable collection point that will dispose of the equipment in accordance with the national recycling and waste disposal regulations. This does not apply to any accessories or aids without electrical components supplied with the old equipment.

Please note that batteries and lamps (e.g. light bulbs) must be removed from the tool before it is disposed of.

Important! The actual charging times may vary slightly from the stated

charging times depending on the existing battery charge.

Off| On| The battery is charged and ready for use. (READY TO GO)

The unit then changes over to gentle charging mode until the battery is fully charged.

To do this, leave the rechargeable battery on the charger for approx. 15 minutes longer.

Action:

Take the battery pack out of the charger. Disconnect the charger from the mains supply.

Flashing| Off| Adapted charging

The charger is in gentle charging mode.

For safety reasons the charging is performed less quickly and takes more time. The reasons can be:

– The rechargeable battery has not been used for a very long time.

– The battery temperature is outside the ideal range.

Action:

Wait for the charging to be completed; you can still continue to charge the battery pack.

Flashing| Flashing| Fault

Charging is no longer possible. The battery pack is defective.

Action:

Never charge a defective battery pack. Take the battery pack out of the charger.

On| On| Temperature fault

The battery pack is too hot (e.g. due to direct sunshine) or too cold (below 0° C).

Action:

Remove the battery pack and keep it at room temperature (approx. 20° C) for one day .

  2. The warranty services cover only defects due to material or manufacturing faults on a product which you have bought from the manufacturer mentioned below and are limited to either the rectifi cation of said defects on the product or the replacement of the product, whichever we prefer.

Gu-arantee claims should be submitted before the end of the guarantee period within two weeks of the defect being noticed. No guarantee claims will be accepted after the end of the guarantee period. The original guarantee period remains applicable to the device even if repairs are carried out or parts are replaced. In such cases, the work performed or parts fi tted will not result in an extension of the guarantee period, and no new guarantee will become active for the work performed or parts fi tted. This also applies if an on-site service is used.

  5. To make a claim under the guarantee, please register the defective device at: www.Einhell-Service.com. Please keep your bill of purchase or other proof of purchase for the new device. Devices that are returned without proof of purchase or without a rating plate shall not be covered by the guarantee, because appropriate identifi cation will not be possible. If the defect is co-vered by our guarantee, then the item in question will either be repaired immediately and returned to you or we will send you a new replacement.

Of course, we are also happy off er a chargeable repair service for any defects which are not covered by the scope of this guarantee or for units which are no longer covered. To take advantage of this service, please send the device to our service address.
