Introduction

Thank you for purchasing your P90X HD primary clutch buttons from AA! These buttons are built from the highest grade plastics available for clutching applications, and also Teflon infused. These are custom molded by AA and will be less likely to crack, break, and wear. This can save your primary clutch from premature failure as well as make the clutch run longer/cooler. See below for steps on easy installation.

  • Remove the clutch cover duct and clutch cover from the vehicle
  • Remove the primary clutch bolt using an impact gun and T60. You may need to remove the shock guard or shock.
  • Locate the 6 bolts holding the factory spring cover in place and remove them carefully as you have some spring tension under the cover
  • Grab the black center post and remove it while being careful not to lose the limiter washer and cupped spring washer (belleville).
  • The center post may be a little hard to remove with newer vehicles as it has an o-ring holding it in place.
  • Mark the two sheaves (clutch halves the belt rides on)of the clutch to keep them aligned (not crucial, but should be done)
  • Now you will pull on the outer sheave of the clutch. This is splined on the inner sheave of the clutch. This may take some force. If need be, you can remove the belt and slide the outer clutch sheave towards the inner, and use a slide-hammer action to remove the outer half.
  • Once the outer half is removed, take it to the bench and lift the spider (3 finger piece) out of the movable sheave

Locate the primary buttons and pull them out of the spider by hand (Image A)

  • Install the AA Extreme Duty Buttons in the spider making sure the flat side is facing outwards (Image B)

  • Install the spider into the movable clutch sheave making sure to align the X marks together

  • Install the movable sheave/spider combo on the splines of the stationary sheave, making sure to align with your marks

  • Install the center post making sure the belleville washer is on first/top (cupped side towards engine) and the flat washer is touching the clutch

  • Install the spring and 6 bolt spring cover. Make sure to align the X if using the OEM cover, there is no X to align on our Revolver cover.

  • Torque the factory spring cover bolts to 9-10ft-lbs, then torque the primary clutch bolt to 140ft-lbs (We use a torque stick/impact)

  • Install your clutch cover and go ride!
