Read these instructions and check to be sure all parts and tools are accounted
for. Please retain these installation instructions for future reference and
parts ordering information.

IMPORTANT
Your Indian Motorcycle® Saddlebag Light Kit is exclusively designed for your
vehicle. Please read the installation instructions thoroughly before
beginning. Installation is easier if the vehicle is clean and free of debris.
For your safety, and to ensure a satisfactory installation, perform all
installation steps correctly in the sequence shown.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
For Indian Chieftain®/Roadmaster®, skip ahead to page 10.
NDIAN CHALLENGER
VEHICLE PREPARATION
GENERAL
- Park motorcycle on a flat surface, fully extend kickstand, and make sure vehicle is stable.
- Turn key or ignition switch to OFF position and remove key. If equipped with keyless fob, remove fob from proximity of vehicle.
REMOVE LEFT SIDE PANEL
- Grasp front lower corner left side panel and gently pull away from vehicle to release three grommet pins. Use caution to prevent damage to painted surfaces.
REMOVE SEAT

Remove and keep one screw from each side of seat.

Pull seat rearward, then upward to disengage seat from frame mount and hat bushing. Do not allow seat mount brackets to contact rear fender.
WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE AND KEY FOB
ANTENNA REMOVAL
-
Pull the hose down and away from the key fob antenna.
-
Disconnect key fob antenna connector.
-
Move the key fob antenna rearward to release from bracket.
-
Tilt the key fob antenna up and remove.
-
Disconnect wireless control module connector
-
Lift wireless control module. Move it down and remove.
SADDLEBAG REMOVAL
HARD SADDLEBAGS ONLY:
-
Unlock electric saddlebag lock (if equipped).
TIP
Provided key can also be used in latch release buttons to unlock saddlebag lids -
Disconnect saddle bag lock wiring near seat.

Repeat this section for opposite side.
ALL SADDLEBAGS
-
Open saddlebag.
-
Remove and keep two screws A.
-
Tilt saddlebag away from frame and remove from vehicle.
NOTE
Lift leather saddlebags up-and-off spools before tilting off frame.

Repeat this section for opposite saddlebag.
ACCESSORY INSTALLATION
NOTICE

HARNESS INSTALLATION
- Route harness q under bracket and through both left and right hand frame.
ROUTING CLIP INSTALLATION
-
Clean the inboard side with 50:50 isopropyl alcohol/water solution.
WARNING
Isopropyl alcohol is hazardous to your health. See isopropyl alcohol packaging for proper handling instructions, including recommended personal protective equipment such as goggles and chemical resistant gloves. -
Remove adhesive backer from r outing clips rand firmly push onto locations.
MEASUREMENT
Measurement A: 37/64 in (14.5 mm)
MEASUREMENT
Measurement B: 6 9/64 in (156 mm)
MEASUREMENT
Measurement C: 6 9/64 in (156 mm)
MEASUREMENT
Measurement D: 25/32 in (20 mm)
LIGHTING INSTALLATION
NOTICE
Left side shown; right side similar.

Put 2 foam pieces t on top of the saddlebag light w, towards the outside edges of the light.
-
Test fit the foam t and saddlebag lighting with the saddlebag. Make sure that the foam on top of the lighting is touching the lid of the saddlebag.
IMPORTANT
Do not compress the foam.
-
Clean current side with 50:50 isopropyl alcohol/ water solution.
-
Remove the adhesive backer from the light w and push the light on the saddlebag with the foam t against the saddlebag lid. Hold for 30 seconds.
IMPORTANT
The adhesion will set in 72 hrs. Ideal temperature range for adhesion application is 70-100°F (21–38°
C). Minimum temperature is 50°F (10°C) -
Open saddlebag lid and remove foam pieces.

Route light harness through routing clips r .
SADDLEBAG INSTALLATION
ALL SADDLEBAGS

Set saddlebag in place.
-
Open saddlebag.
-
Install two retained screws A. Torque screws to specification
TORQUE
Saddlebag Screws A: 18 ft-lbs (24 N·m)
-
Repeat this section for opposite saddlebag.
HARD SADDLEBAGS ONLY:
-
Connect saddle bag lock wiring near seat.
-
Repeat this section for opposite side.
LIGHT HARNESS INSTALLATION
NOTE
Left side shown; right side similar
- Connect light harness w to rear lighting harness.
VEHICLE REASSEMBLY
WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE AND KEY FOB ANTENNA INSTALLATION
-
Insert wireless control module.
-
Connect wireless control module connector.
-
Insert key fob antenna at an angle.
-
Make sure that it is flat against the surface by moving it down until it touches the bracket.
-
Pull up wires to the appropriate location.
-
Connect the key fob antenna connector.
INSTALL SEAT
-
Lower seat onto fender with rear hook behind frame mount. Pull seat forward to engage frame mount until screw holes line up with seat bracket holes.
-
Install two retained screws into seat brackets and torque to specification.
TORQUE
Seat Bracket Screw: 18 ft-lbs (24 N·m)
SIDE COVER INSTALLATION
NOTICE
Left side shown; right side similar.
- Attach the panel by aligning the three grommet pins and pushing it in. Use caution to prevent damage to painted surfaces.
INDIAN CHIEFTAIN®/ROADMASTER®
VEHICLE PREPARATION
GENERAL
- Park motorcycle on a flat surface, fully extend kickstand, and make sure vehicle is stable.
- Turn key or ignition switch to OFF position and remove key. If equipped with keyless fob, remove fob from proximity of vehicle.
REMOVE SIDE COVERS
- Remove side covers by grasping firmly and pulling outward. Carefully set aside.
TRUNK REMOVAL
NOTICE
Right side shown; left side similar.

If equipped, remove and keep security screw from trunk base latch.

Disconnect trunk harness connector underneath trunk..
-
Lift both trunk base latches.
-
Lift trunk off rear posts and remove from front posts toward rear.
-
Carefully set trunk aside.
SEAT REMOVAL
-
Remove and keep one bolt A from each side of seat.
-
If removing a touring (2-person) seat, remove one bolt B and two washers C and D from rear fender.
-
Slide seat rearward while lifting on rear and remove seat.
OPTIONAL
- Remove seat strap, if equipped, by removing two screws E.
UNDER SEAT BRACKET REMOVAL
-
Remove and retain top bracket screw.
-
Disconnect vehicle control module connectors.
-
Remove and retain bottom wire screw and washer.
-
Move wire away towards bottom.
-
Move down bracket.
-
Tilt up bracket and remove.
SADDLEBAG REMOVAL
HARD SADDLEBAGS ONLY:
-
Unlock electric saddlebag lock (if equipped).
TIP
Provided key can also be used in latch release buttons to unlock saddlebag lids. -
Disconnect saddle bag lock wiring near seat.

Repeat this section for opposite side.
ALL SADDLEBAGS
-
Open saddlebag.
-
Remove and keep two screws A.

Tilt saddlebag away from frame and remove from vehicle
NOTE
Lift leather saddlebags up-and-off spools before tilting off frame.

ACCESSORY INSTALLATION
NOTICE

HARNESS INSTALLATION
- Route harness q through both left and right frames.
IMPORTANT
The rear lighting wire harness should be routed over both the positive battery harness and the shock hose. Failure to do so may cause the harness to become pinched in the shock.
ROUTING CLIP INSTALLATION

LIGHT HARNESS INSTALLATION
NOTE

- Connect light harness w to rear lighting harness 1.
VEHICLE REASSEMBLY
UNDER SEAT BRACKET INSTALLATION
-
Insert under seat bracket
-
Move up underseat bracket until the bottom notch is inserted into the bracket
-
Line up bottom wire with hole. Install wire screw and washer.
-
Connect vehicle control module connectors.
-
Install top bracket screw.
SEAT INSTALLATION
-
Install seat in place and slide seat forward until mounting holes line up. If installed, pull passenger strap through opening in seat.

Install one bolt A into each side of seat. Torque fastener to specification.
TORQUE
Seat Fastener A: 18 ft-lbs (24 N·m)
-
If installing a touring (2-person) seat, install one bolt B and two washers C and D into rear fender.
TORQUE
Passenger Seat Fastener B: 84 in-lbs (9.5 N·m)
INSTALL SIDE COVERS
- Install side covers by aligning pins with rubber grommets and pressing into place.
