Product Information

The POWER CARROUSELTM is a device used to recharge Gilson PIPETMAN M and PIPETMAN M Connected pipettes with a battery specified by Gilson. It is supplied with an AC adaptor that is suitable for your country. The device is not protected against liquids and should not be immersed. Any parts that become defective must be replaced by original Gilson parts. No changes may be made to POWER CARROUSEL.

Congratulations on the purchase of POWER CARROUSEL™, a multi-charging pipette stand designed to be used with all models of PIPETMAN® M and PIPETMAN® M Connected pipettes.

Parts Checklist
Just take a moment to verify that the following items are present:

  • POWER CARROUSEL,
  • Power Supply 5V with AC adapter and cable,
  • POWER CARROUSSEL User’s Guide LT801541.

Safety

Before using the POWER CARROUSELTM, read the operating and safety instructions in the user manual. Observing safety instructions is paramount. The device must not be used in a potentially explosive environment or with potentially explosive chemicals. Use only original Gilson’s PIPETMAN M and PIPETMAN M Connected pipettes. Do not position pipettes on POWER CARROUSEL if they can touch each other, as it may create contamination on the pipettes. Any changes to the device’s configuration or design may cause danger.

All persons working with POWER CARROUSEL must read the operating and safety instructions before operating the instrument. For safety reasons, it is important to observe the following instructions.

NOTICE indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in equipment damage.
CAUTION indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury.
WARNING indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in serious injury.

Safety at Work
In addition to any safety precautions listed here, all other relevant safety aspects –e.g., GLP, GMP, professional trade associations, Department of Health, trade supervisory authorities – must be observed.

Electrical Specifications
POWER CARROUSEL is supplied with an AC adaptor that is suitable for your country. You must only use an original Gilson AC adaptor specific to this product. POWER CARROUSEL is used to recharge Gilson PIPETMAN M and PIPETMAN M Connected pipettes with a battery specified by Gilson. Use AC adaptor and stand adapter indoors.

AC Adaptor

  • Input voltage, country-specific: 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz (0.6A max.)
  • Output voltage: +5 V DC; 3A (15W max.)
  • Class II: this device is double insulated.
  • Gilson will not take any responsibility if a non-specified AC adaptor is used.

NOTICE

  • POWER CARROUSEL is not protected against liquids.
  • Do not immerse POWER CARROUSEL; liquid inside can damage its internal components.
  • Do not allow the liquid to enter the body of POWER CARROUSEL.

The look of the reel at the bottom of the carrousel stand is due to an anti- corrosion treatment (refer to Figure 1).

WARNING Do not use POWER CARROUSEL in a potentially explosive environment or with potentially explosive chemicals.

Use POWER CARROUSEL only with original Gilson’s PIPETMAN M and PIPETMAN M Connected. If the equipment is used in a manner not specified by Gilson in the user’s guide, the protection provided in the equipment may be impaired.

CAUTION Do not position pipettes on POWER CARROUSEL if they can touch each other, this may create contamination on the pipettes.

Changes in Configuration/Design by User
No changes may be made to POWER CARROUSEL. Any parts that become defective must be replaced by original Gilson parts.
POWER CARROUSEL may not be altered in design or in any of their safety aspects without the express written permission of Gilson. In particular, no alterations may be made to any of the protective functions. Any alteration releases Gilson from any liability for damage caused.

Getting Started

  1. Place POWER CARROUSELTM on a bench.
  2. Connect the AC adaptor to a suitable AC power supply.
  3. The cable is stored on the bottom side of the carrousel and can be unrolled and rolled as required (see Figure 1).
  4. Install the Power Carrousel, and charge the battery of PIPETMAN M and PIPETMAN M Connected pipettes using the Power Carrousel according to the instructions given in the user manual (see chapter 2).
  5. Connect the AC adaptor to a suitable AC power supply. The cable is stored on the bottom side of the carrousel and can be unrolled and rolled as required (see Figure 1).
  6. The carrousel is ready to charge PIPETMAN M pipettes.

NOTICE Make sure that POWER CARROUSEL is well positioned on the bench. Do not use POWER CARROUSEL on an unbalanced surface or with inaccurately rolled cable.
NOTE It’s recommended to properly balance the pipettes on the carrousel to guarantee perfect stability (refer to Figure 2).

Battery Charging of PIPETMAN M and PIPETMAN M Connected by Using POWER CARROUSEL

  1. First install POWER CARROUSEL as described above.
  2. Remove the plug (refer to Figure 3). Now place your pipette on the charging position (refer to Figure 4), please ensure that the pipette is properly fitted to the contacts on the top of the carrousel (a proper fitting will trigger a beep sound).
  3. The pipette will start charging. PIPETMAN M and PIPETMAN M Connected charges 80% of its full battery capacity in less than an hour, it takes three hours to fully charge the battery (for further information on PIPETMAN M or PIPETMAN M Connected power management please refer to PIPETMAN M and PIPETMAN M Connected User’s Guides located on www.gilson.com).GILSON-LT801541-C-Power-Carrousel- \(4\)

Cleaning, Decontamination, and Maintenance

Clean and decontaminate the device after every use. Maintenance should be done periodically to keep the device in good condition. Refer to chapter 3 for detailed instructions.

Cleaning and Decontamination

  • To clean POWER CARROUSEL, wipe it with a soft-cloth or lint-free tissue dipped in a simple soap solution or 70% Ethanol, to remove all marks. If POWER CARROUSEL is very dirty, a brush with soft plastic bristles may be used.
  • To rinse, wipe POWER CARROUSEL with a soft cloth or lint-free tissue dipped in distilled water.
  • Allow it to air-dry or dry it carefully with a soft-cloth or lint-free tissue.

NOTICE

  • Do not autoclave POWER CARROUSEL. Extreme heat will damage electronic components.
  • Do not immerse POWER CARROUSEL. Liquid inside will damage its internal components.

If you use chemical solutions for decontamination or detergents for cleaning other than those specified below, you should check with your supplier that the solution or detergent is safe for use with the following materials: polypropylene, steel, rubber.

Maintenance
POWER CARROUSEL must be cleaned regularly. If necessary, you can replace :GILSON-LT801541-C-Power-Carrousel- \(5\)

NOTICE

  • POWER CARROUSEL must not be opened. Repairs must be carried out by Gilson or a service company authorized by Gilson.
  • Please contact your local Gilson representative for the replacement of spare parts.

Equipment Disposal
Refer to chapter 4 of the user manual for information about disposing of the device according to WEEE 2002/96/EC.

This equipment must not be disposed of with unsorted municipal waste. Instead, it is your responsibility to correctly dispose of your waste equipment by handing it over to an authorized facility for separate collection and recycling. It is also your responsibility to decontaminate the equipment in case of biological, chemical, and/ or radiological contamination so as to protect from health hazards the persons involved in the disposal and recycling of equipment. For more information about where you can drop off your waste equipment for recycling, please contact your local dealer from whom you originally purchased the product or your local council. By doing so, you will help conserve natural resources and you will ensure that your waste equipment is recycled in a manner that protects human health and the environment. Thank you.
