- When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:
- Read all instructions.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are closely supervised and instructed concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- This appliance shall not be used by children. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.
- Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used near children. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- Do not locate the Smart Sharps Bin in a room with high humidity, such as a bathroom as the moisture can damage the functionality of the unit.
- Do not locate the Smart Sharps Bin in an area with direct sunlight as it may interfere with the Sharps Drop Door internal camera mechanism.
- To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not put cord, plug, base, or motor in water or allow water to splash on it.
- Do not use outdoors.
- The Smart Sharps Bin must be used and rested on a stable surface.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged supply cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Supply cord replacement and repairs must be conducted by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Contact Customer Service for information on examination, repair, or adjustment as set forth in the Limited Warranty.
- Needles and various other sharps should be placed in the Smart Sharps Bin immediately after use to decrease the chance of cuts, needle sticks and other physical harm caused by loose sharps. The sharps container should also be kept where the sharps are used.
- WARNING: Do not place hands into the sharps container. Placing hands into the sharps container significantly increases the risk of accidental needlestick and cut injuries.
- WARNING: Do not overfill or force sharps into the container. Overfilling sharps container significantly increases the risk of accidental needle-stick and cut injuries.
- CAUTION: To ensure safe operation and proper functioning, use only sharps containers designed for this device.
- Sharps containers are reserved for items that can puncture the skin. Do not place items such as medication, tape, bandages, alcohol preps, aerosols, inhalers, used gloves, or other non-sharps medical waste in the container.
- For use with only power adapter HB-PS-002. Note: use with any other power supply will jeopardize FCC compliance.

GETTING STARTED
The Smart Sharps Bin and companion app along with 24/7 Customer Care Team provide comprehensive support to help you manage your at-home injectable medication.
Smart Sharps Bin:
On the day your injection is due, the Blue Light Reminder will illuminate on
the Smart Sharps Bin. The Smart Sharps Bin safely stores your used sharps,
displays your personal On-Time adherence score, the date of your next
scheduled injection, and injection site rotation reminders.
Push the snooze button to:
- View your injection site reminder
- Snooze the blue lights for one hour
Smart Sharps Bin Companion App:
Extend your at-home and mobile support experience. With the companion app, you can:
- View your upcoming schedule
- Log injections when you are away
- Track your On-Time Score
- Update your personal treatment details
- View and download your personalized reports and injection history records
- Change and track your reminders and injection site rotation

Smart Sharps Bin Companion Portal:
You can access your information through the Smart Sharps Bin Companion Portal
at www.smartsharpsbin.com. Use your companion
app details to login to the companion portal.
PAIRING YOUR SMART SHARPS BIN
- STEP 1 Visit www.smartsharpsbin.com to sign up for your monthly subscription. Then, click the link in the activation email to download the Smart Sharps Bin companion app. Alternatively, the companion app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Step 2 Please read the terms and conditions of the license agreement. Select the box to confirm that you accept and then get started with the Smart Sharps Bin system.
- STEP 3 Follow the step-by-step prompts in the companion app to pair with the Smart Sharps Bin and then to setup your individualized profile. It may take up to 15 minutes for your Smart Sharps Bin & the companion app to sync.
USING YOUR SMART SHARPS BIN
On the day of your scheduled injection, your Smart Sharps Bin will light up showing a blue reminder on top of the display screen. Based on your set preferences, you may also receive reminders via the companion app or text messages.
Dispose of your injection:
- Open the Sharps Drop Door and drop your used injection into the Smart Sharps Bin.
- Wait until you see a flash inside the Sharps Drop Door. This is the Smart Sharps Bin taking a visual record of the deposit.
- “Well Done” will appear on the LCD Screen once the drop is recorded. Close the Sharps Drop Door. Your used injector is now safely stored in the sharps bin.
- Your Smart Sharps Bin and companion app will sync within 15 minutes and your records will be updated, and the date of your next injection will be displayed on the LCD Screen.

REPLACING AND DISPOSING OF THE RED INNER SHARPS BIN
Remove the full sharps bin
You will know that it’s time to replace your inner sharps bin when the screen
on your Smart Sharps Bin says ‘BIN FULL’. Push the Smart Sharps Bin Side Door
to open it and slide out the full sharps bin.
Safely lock the full sharps bin
Close the sliding door on the top of the red inner sharps bin until it locks
into place. The inner sharps bin is now safely secured and ready for disposal.
Replace with the new sharps bin
Remove the new red inner sharps bin from the box, making sure to retain all
packaging components. Slide the new sharps bin into the Smart Sharps Bin, with
the bin opening positioned beneath the Sharps Drop Door.
Carefully package the full inner sharps bin for mailback
Using the prepaid HB Mailback packaging, place the locked red inner sharps bin
into the plastic bag and seal it using the cable tie. Put it into the inner
brown Mailback box located inside the outer white Mailback box. Tape both
boxes closed
Complete the tracking document
Remove the tracking document from the plastic pocket on the side of the outer
white Mailback box. Ensure that the information in Section 1 is correct and
amend if necessary. Complete Section 2 by printing your name, signing, and
dating the document. Keep the bottom blue copy for your records. Place the
remaining three copies back into the plastic pocket.
Your Mailback box is ready to send
Return the prepaid package via the HB Mailback program through the U.S. Postal
Service by bringing it to your local post office or arranging home pickup.

- Is the Smart Sharps Bin safe to be plugged in all the time?
- Yes, it is safe and consumes minimal power. The Smart Sharps Bin must remain plugged in at all times to experience the full benefits of the system.
- Can other sharps be disposed of in the Smart Sharps Bin?
- The Smart Sharps Bin is designed to manage one primary injectable medication. It is our strong recommendation to utilize this system to dispose of sharps waste for only one medication to ensure that your On-Time Score, reminders and injection history logs are accurate. IMPORTANT: If you dispose of other sharps in the Smart Sharps Bin, contact Customer Care Team to update your Smart Sharps Bin injection history log.
- What should I do if I need to move my Smart Sharps Bin?
- First, ensure that the new location has good network strength. Then simply unplug and relocate your Smart Sharps Bin. Once it is plugged back in, the Smart Sharps Bin will automatically reconnect to the network and your information will be available.
- What if I have a question about my treatment?
- Please consult with your medical professional.
- What if the Bin Full screen is still appearing after I replace the inner sharps bin?
- Please either update the bin capacity in the companion app or notify The Customer Care Team and they will assist you.

This warranty applies to products purchased in the U.S. This is the only express warranty for this product and is in lieu of any other warranty or condition. This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the date of original purchase in the U.S. During this period, your exclusive remedy is repair or replacement of this product or any component found to be defective, at our option; however, you may be responsible for all costs associated with returning the product to us and our returning a product or component under this warranty to you. This warranty does not cover wear from normal use, use not in conformity with the printed directions, or damage to the product resulting from accident, alteration, abuse, or misuse.
