General

STI Steel Web Stoppers are a simple, tough, low cost, easy-to install protective cover for smoke and heat sensors where damage to the device may occur. They are especially appropriate for areas where physical abuse to detectors is great, such as correctional facilities and public buildings in high-crime districts. Their strong, durable, womblike design and construction of 3/16” steel wire permit the Stoppers to take tough knocks in stride. Their open design allows unrestricted airflow to the fire alarm sensor, so that no change in the device application or spacing is required.

Features

  • Two models (one for high-profile and one for low) fit virtually all smoke detectors, while a third model fits heat detectors (both rate-of-rise and fixed).
  • L.E.D. indicator on detectors remains visible. Easy installation and easy removal for servicing detectors.
  • Aesthetically appealing.
  • Same positioning of installation holes as Still’s polycarbonate Smoke Detector Damage Stoppers — thus they are interchangeable.
  • Construction of 3/16″ steel wire in a womblike, octagonal shape is extremely difficult to break.
  • Easy installation.
  • Optional surface mount models.

Miscellaneous

A damaged smoke detector or heat detector could make an entire fire alarm system inoperable and negate the early warning response for which it was intended. To maintain
critical credibility, it may be necessary to install a physical guard to prevent damage by accident or vandalism. STI’s Steel Web Stoppers do exactly that.
NOTE: These devices should only be used in areas where abuse of smoke detectors or heat detectors is causing false fire alarms or high maintenance costs.
