CARE INSTRUCTIONS AND WARRANTY CARD
Dear Customer:
You have purchased a high-quality product made by KEUCO. With the right care, your KEUCO products will give you convenience and pleasure for a long time.
Appropriate care is one of the main factors for upholding any KEUCO manufacturer’s guarantee.
Please note the following instructions for cleaning and care of accessories, sanitary fittings, bathroom furniture, washbasins and mirror cabinets:

ACCESSORIES

The following instructions must be observed without fail in order to preserve the beauty and functionality of your accessories:
Dirt and scale deposits can be removed with a soft cloth, water and a skin- friendly cleanser, preferably washing-up liquid.
Other materials, such as crystal glass, can be cleaned properly with the help of a soft, dry cloth. Soap residue in soap dishes can cloud the glass if left for a long period of time. For this reason rinse the glass regularly with warm water and remove all soap residue.
Never use any cleaning agents or disinfectants containing alcohol or acid. Scouring and abrasive agents must also be avoided. Scale-removing agents must not be used either, for they damage the surface and compromise the reliability of the fitting in the wall.
Severely soiled gold surfaces can also be cleaned with a commercial gold- cleaning agent.

SANITARY FITTINGS

Our cleaning recommendations were developed in consultation with leading cleanser manufacturers. Modern sanitary fittings today are made from a wide variety of materials in order to meet the market’s requirements in respect to design and functionality.
Consequently, they present a variety of challenges for the cleansers used, whose ingredients must be compatible with the materials to be cleaned.
In order to avoid damage and complaints, it is necessary to take certain criteria into account both for using the fittings as well as subsequently cleaning them.
Use only neutrally netting silicone.
PLANNING CLEANING ACTIVITIES IN PUBLIC AND COMMERCIAL AREAS
The category of public and commercial buildings ranges from hospitals and facilities in the food industry to sports facilities, hotels and restaurants, for example, whose cleaning needs in the sanitary area vary widely in respect to the formation of dirt and scale deposits. Careful planning is essential in order to select an agent and method
appropriate to the required cleaning task and should take into account at least the following aspects:

  • Place of use
  • Frequency and intensity of cleaning (basic or regular cleaning)
  • Type of products installed (base and surface materials)
  • Condition of the installed products

SURFACE FINISH OF SANITARY FITTINGS

The majority of sanitary fittings have a chrome-nickel finish, meeting the requirements of DIN EN 248, although the following surface materials are also used:

  • Stainless steel
  • Plastics, including powder-coatings and wet-coatings
  • Anodized aluminium
  • PVD-coatings (hard material layers with a metallic appearance)
  • Special galvanic finishes, such as gold, aranja etc.

With the exception of PVD coatings, coloured, non-metallic surface finishes are always more susceptible to damage, particularly scratching, than is the case with metallic finishes. Before starting to clean the product, it is therefore advisable to determine the type of sanitary fitting.
CLEANSERS FOR SANITARY FITTINGS
Acids are an indispensable ingredient in cleansers when it comes to removing scale deposits. The following points must be noted without fail when cleaning sanitary fittings:

  • Only cleansers explicitly approved for this purpose may actually be used.
  • Cleansers containing hydrochloric acid, formic acid or acetic acid must not be used, as these can cause considerable damage.
  • Similarly, cleansers containing phosphoric acid can only be used within certain limits.
  • Cleansers containing chlorine bleach must not be used.
  • Abrasive cleansers and equipment, such as inappropriate scouring agents and pads, must not be used.

Different types of cleansers which have been mixed together must also not be used.
CLEANING SANITARY FITTINGS
The directions for use of the cleanser manufacturer must be observed without fail.
General points to note:

  • Only clean the fitting as much as is necessary. The amount of cleanser and the exposure time must be adapted to the facility’s specific requirements and the effects of the cleanser must not be allowed to act for longer than necessary.
  • The formation of scale should be prevented through regular cleaning.
  • If necessary, existing scale deposits should be removed by applying the product directly.
  • When applying a spray cleanser, the cleanser must never be applied directly to the fitting, but only to a cloth with which the fitting is then cleaned, as the spray may penetrate into small openings and gaps in the fitting and cause damage.
  • After cleaning, the fitting must be thoroughly rinsed with clear water in order to remove all remaining residue of the product.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Surfaces which are already damaged may suffer additionally when exposed to a cleanser. Body care agents, such as liquid soap, shampoo and shower gel, can also cause damage. It is therefore important to ensure that the surface is rinsed with clear water after use to remove any residues.
BATHROOM FURNITURE
Always use a soft, damp cloth or leather to clean your bathroom furniture. Take care to wipe dry all parts following use or cleaning. A little ethanol- based cleanser or mild washing-up liquid should be added to lukewarm water to remove stubborn stains. The parts must be rubbed until dry with a soft, lint- free cloth after cleaning.
Never use cleaning agents that contain acetic or citric acid, alcohol-based cleaning agents (e.g.) scouring powder, solvent-based cleaners or other chemicals.
MIRRORS / MIRROR CABINETS
Mirror surfaces should only be cleaned with a damp chamois leather. Do not use commercial glass-cleaning agents. The mirror edges should be wiped dry only. Open bottles or containers of WC or pipe cleaner, nail varnish remover or similar must not be kept near the mirror.
LIGHTS
The following instructions must be observed without fail in order to preserve the beauty of your lights: Dirt and scale deposits can be removed with a soft cloth, water and a skin-friendly cleanser, preferably washing-up liquid. Never use any cleaning agents or disinfectants containing alcohol or acid.
Scouring and abrasive agents must also be avoided.
WASHBASINS
Cast mineral
Please observe the aforementioned cleaning instructions for routine cleaning.
For stubborn stains we recommend the KEUCO “Cast Mineral Cleaning and Care Product”. This cleanser is included with each KEUCO cast mineral washbasin and is also available through the
KEUCO spare part shop on the Internet (www.keuco.com).
In order to preserve the high quality and shining finish, the cast mineral washbasin should be  polished one to two times every year with a fine polishing agent (e.g. car polish).
Ceramic
KEUCO ceramic washbasins are finished using the special surface sealant, CLEANPLUS. This makes care and cleaning even quicker and easier.
CLEANPLUS makes the ceramic surface especially smooth. Dirt and deposits cannot take hold and are washed away by water, which pearls into large droplets. This also considerably reduces limescale deposits.
Since most residues are rinsed away with the water, only warm water and a mild cleanser are necessary to clean the washbasin. Only use soft, non-abrasive sponges or cloths, and only mild vinegar-based or general cleansers. Recommended are all cleansers with a neutral pH level such as neutral cleansers. Do not use any aggressive and abrasive cleansers such as e.g. scouring cream, scouring powder, drain cleanser, fittings cleanser, steel or pot cleansers, or steel wool. These can impair CLEANPLUS characteristics and scratch the glaze.
CLEANPLUS is resistant to the acids and lyes which occur in the household. The material is also fully heat resistant. The lasting effects of CLEANPLUS under conditions where the care instructions are complied with were tested and confirmed by the Forschungsinstitut für Glas und Keramik (FGK) (Research Institute for Glass and Ceramics).
Since less cleanser is necessary for cleaning, CLEANPLUS has lasting benefits for the en- vironment.
Glass
Cleaning the surface is very easy. This is done with warm water, a soft cloth or sponge, and common glass or vinegar cleansers. Here only cleansers without abrasive ingredients may be used.
Varicor®
Your Varicor® washbasin from KEUCO has a silky-matt and warm surface. The easy-to-care-for material satisfies the highest demands on durability and hygiene. If you abide by the following instructions for cleaning and care you can retain these characteristics without much effort.
To retain the uniform surface appearance, during the initial months we recommend you use a mild scouring cream once or twice a month to care for it . Apply the cream cleanser to the entire surface in a circular motion using a moist cloth. Then rinse the surface with clear water, and dry it with a soft cloth.
Use warm water, a mild cleanser and a soft cloth to clean the washbasin on a daily basis. If some residues cannot be removed, use a mild scouring cream as described above. Then rinse the surface with clear water, and dry it with a soft cloth.
Varicor® is resistant to the acids and lyes which occur in the household. The material is also fully heat resistant.
