Assembly Precautions

1. Do not assemble in windy conditions.
2. Assemble and install only on flat, level, hard surface.
3. Assemble and anchor only according to these instructions. Improper assembly or inadequate anchoring can create hazards.
4. Check for utility lines, tree branches and other structures before assembling.
5. Verify that installation surface has no hidden utility lines before anchoring.
6. Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles, heavy-duty work gloves and hard hat during assembly and service.
7. Keep assembly area clean and well lit.
8. Keep bystanders out of the area during assembly.
9. Do not assemble when tired or when under the influence of drugs or medication.
10. Product capabilities apply to properly and completely assembled product only.

Use Precautions

1. CARBON MONOXIDE HAZARD Using an engine inside Shed CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES.
   • Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide. This is a poison you cannot see or smell. NEVER use an engine inside Shed, EVEN IF cover is open. Only use an engine OUTSIDE and far away from Shed.
2. DO NOT USE IN HIGH WIND. Remove cover if harsh weather or heavy rain threatens.
3. For temporary use only.
   • Do not use for long-term shelter.
4. Do not use as tent. Does not meet tent flammability standards. Do not use grill, heater, or ignition sources inside or near cover.
5. Do not allow snow, rainwater or debris to accumulate or pool on cover.
6. Do not hang objects from any part of the Garage.
7. This product is not a toy. Do not allow children to play with or near this item.
8. Use as intended only.
9. Inspect regularly, tighten all loose hardware and loose straps, and secure all loosened anchors. If any parts are damaged, bent, or stretched, they must be replaced. Hardware may loosen during normal operation stresses. Loose hardware or damaged/altered parts will compromise the structural integrity of this product.
10. Maintain product labels and nameplates. These carry important safety information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement.

Assembly

Read the ENTIRE IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION section at the beginning of this manual including all text under subheadings therein before set up or use of this product.

Note : For additional information regarding the parts listed in the following pages, refer to Parts List and Diagram on.

WARNING TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY: Do not leave this product partially assembled. Assemble this product completely at one time.
Note: At least 3 workers are required for assembly. Before starting assembly, review the instructions and make sure there is enough time and the proper tools available to properly assemble.
Finger-tighten all connections until assembly is done. Assemble on a flat, level surface.

Frame Assembly Overview

SETUP

Roof Assembly

Note: Much of this product’s assembly is done using slip fit construction. Make sure all parts seat completely and securely. A rubber mallet (sold separately) can be used to gently tap parts into place to ensure a tight fit.

Note the differences between connectors (see Figure B). Parts (8), (9) and (10) are side bend connectors with a sharp bend. Parts (11) and (7) are top bend connectors for the roof ridge and have a sloping bend. When installed, the welded socket for the cross rail must be below the bend.

1. Assemble roof ridge using five Ridge Tubes (4) with 4-Way Peak Connectors (7) between them, and a 3‑Way Peak Connector (11) on each end. The Ridge Tubes connect to the straight ends of the Connectors and the curved, free ends of the Connectors angle down, as shown in Figure C. Align holes in Ridge Tubes and Connectors.
   a. Insert two M6 x 50 Bolts (18), Washers (20) and Nuts (21) at each 4-Way connection.
   b. Insert one M6 x 50 Bolts (18), Washers (20) and Nuts (21) at each 3-Way connection.
   c. Only finger-tighten nuts at this time.

2. Connect a Rafter Tube (3) to each free end of every 4-Way Peak Connector (7) and 3-Way Peak Connector (11) on each side.

3. Assemble five Roof Shoulder Tubes (4-1) using 4‑Way Side Connectors (10) between them, with Left 3-Way Side Connector (8) on one end and Right 3-Way Side Connector (9) on the opposite end (see Figure D). The Roof Shoulder Tubes connect to the straight ends of the Connectors, and the curved ends of all Connectors must face up and angled the same direction, as shown. If that is not the case, the wrong connectors were used, or they were assembled backwards.

4. Assemble an identical Roof Shoulder group by repeating the instructions in the step above.

5. Connect the Roof Shoulder assemblies to the ends of the Rafters, as shown in Figure E.

6. Make sure all parts assembled up to this point are firmly joined together. Tap parts together gently with a rubber mallet (sold separately) if needed.

7. Fully tighten all nuts on the Roof Frame assembly with a wrench (sold separately)

Leg and Foot Assembly

1. Connect Corner Leg Tubes (2) and Bent Corner Legs (6) to create the four corner leg assemblies.
2. Connect a Foot Plate (12) onto the bottom of each Center Leg Tube (1). to create the eight center leg assemblies.
   • Align holes on the Center Leg Tube and Foot Plate. Insert an M6 x 50 Bolt (18) and Nut (21) at each connection. Tighten Nut securely
3. Install Center Legs and Corner Legs into the Side Connectors (see Figure F).
4. Repeat to assemble the other side.

Squaring and Anchoring Frame

WARNING TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY: Contact local utility companies to ensure that installation area is free of pipes, cables, and other hazards BEFORE installing Anchors or choosing installation area.

1. Position Frame in desired in location. The location must be flat, level, and stable with good locations for the Anchors (15).
2. Level the Frame end-to-end and side-to-side.
3. Measure width of Frame at front and back. It should be 12 ft. wide at front, back, and center.
4. Take diagonal measurements (A and B) as shown in Figure G. When these two measurements are equal, the Frame is square. Adjust the Frame until A and B are equal to within 1 inch.
5. Once diagonal measurements are equal, check the width again to ensure all widths are equal at 12 ft.

Note: If measurements cannot be made correct, then parts may not be seated together properly.

1. Once the Frame is positioned, leveled, and squared, anchor the four Corner Legs (6) and two Center Legs (1), one on each side, as follows:
   a. Thread the Anchor (15) into the ground near the Leg until the top of the Anchor only extends about 3″ above the ground. Anchor each corner and one center leg on each side.

   • Note:   Verify that there are no utility lines nearby before driving anchors.  If there are rocks or other obstacles, holes may need to be

drilled first to allow proper anchoring.

  *  **Note:**   If anchoring the frame on concrete, use a concrete anchor (not provided) in place of the Anchor.

  *  **b.** Insert Cable (16) through Anchor and through Corner Leg (6) or Center Leg Foot Plate (12) as shown.
  *  **c.** Pull the Cable tight and secure it using a Cable Clamp (17). Tighten the two nuts on Cable Clamp evenly to secure Cable.
  *  **d.** Repeat for all remaining Anchors and Legs.

Using Ratchet Tie-Downs

Note: Use these instructions for installing Door and Back Panels and Roof Cover.

1. Thread strap through the Ratchet’s (24) spindle as far as it will go.
2. Insert the S-hook of the Ratchet into a hole in Corner Leg (6).
3. Raise and lower Ratchet handle to wind and tighten strap onto Ratchet spindle.

NOTICE: Excessive tightening will damage straps, Panels, and Corner Legs.
To Release a Ratchet Tie-Down:

1. Press spring-loaded bar on handle.
2. Open Ratchet handle completely.
3. Unwind the strap.

Installing Back and Front Doors

Note: When installing Back and Front Doors, ensure that pre-installed straps are not pulled out of Hem.

1. Position a Door Panel (23) at desired end of Frame. The zipper faces the outside of Portable Garage, the warning tag faces inside. Make sure zipper is closed while installing.

2. Locate the webbed strap that runs through perimeter of Door. The webbing is exposed at the peak, shoulders and feet of the Door. Tie the loose ends of the webbed strap to the two Corner Legs.

3. Use a rubber mallet to disconnect Ridge Tube (4) from 3-Way Ridge Connector (11), and place gap at top center of Door Panel around the Ridge Connector, as shown.

4. Wrap the Door Panel flaps around Rafter Tubes and Leg Tubes as shown and then rejoin the tubes. Make sure strap is positioned inside frame.
   DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSERT ANY FRAMEWORK TUBING INTO THE HEM ON THE FLAPS .

5. Repeat step #3 for the 3-Way Side Connectors (8, 9) and Shoulder Tubes (4-1).

6. Assemble a Ratchet Tie Down (24) to each Strap end (see Using Ratchet Tie-Downs). Hook the assembled Ratchet to the hole in Bent Corner Legs (6) and tighten ratchet until Door Panel is reasonably tight.

   • Be sure flaps are folded over the tubes at the end and inside of the frame.
   • Be sure the overlap of the door flap remains square over the end frame and reaches the ground at the base.

7. Repeat the above process to install the other Door Panel to the opposite end of the frame.

   • NOTE: DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN RATCHETS.

Installing Roof Cover

1. Lay Roof Cover (22) on ground next to frame, so that the inside pockets are facing up. See Figure O.

2. Tie a rope (not provided) to each eyelet on the Roof Cover, one on each end.
   Note: Another rope in the middle helps if an additional person is available.

3. Throw the opposite ends of the ropes over the frame.

4. Move to the other side of the frame and pull the Roof Cover over the frame. Make sure that the Roof Cover is centered on the frame. There should be equal overhang on each corner. If small adjustment is needed, two people should pull together from the same end of the Portable Garage so that the Roof Cover does not become twisted.

5. Assemble a Ratchet Tie Down (24) to the strap ends of the four corners of
   Roof Cover. Insert hook on Ratchet to hole in Corner Leg, and ratchet a few times to keep corner in place (Refer to Using Ratchet Tie Downs on page 9).

6. Slide Bottom Rails (5) into pockets. See Figure P.

7. Attach Bottom Rails (5) to Corner Legs using 3-Way Rail Clamps (14) with Bolts (19), Nuts (21) and Washers (20), and to the Center Legs with 4-Way Rail Clamps (13), as shown in Figure Q. Finger tighten nuts only.

8. Make sure all Bottom Rails are the same height from the ground. Push  down on Bottom Rails to tighten Roof Cover, then securely tighten the Nuts (21).

9. When Bottom Rails are all secured, proceed to the four corners and tighten the Roof Cover ends to the Corner Tubes using the Ratchets. Do not overtighten.

10. The Portable Garage is now ready for use. If desired, install Door Roller.

Installing Door Roller

Note: A ladder (sold separately) and at least 2 people (one to hold the ladder) are required for Door Roller installation. Before starting installation, review the instructions and make sure proper tools are available. Parts are provided to install roller to one door.

1. Connect four Male Door Tubes (26) and one Female Door Tube (25) together, and slide them into the bottom Door pocket.
2. On the second Leg Tube inside the Garage, measure eight inches down from the top Cross Rail.
   • Hold the Butterfly Cleat (28) at that spot and in the center of the Leg Tube.
   • Use a center punch (sold separately) to mark two holes for the Screws.
   • a. Carefully drill two pilot holes on the marks using the provided Drill Bit (31). Drill just enough to make two shallow pilot holes. Be careful not to penetrate the Roof Cover.
   • b. Install the Butterfly Cleat (28) using the two provided 4 x 32 Screws (30).
   • Note: Butterfly Cleat shown attached to left side but may be attached to either side of Garage.
3. Feed end of Door Rope (29) through the a small (12mm) grommet on the Roof Cover Flap.
   • Tie and knot Rope to Flap. Repeat for other side.
4. Attach a Pulley (27) through a large (22mm) grommet on the Door. Repeat for other side of the Door.
5. Pass Door Rope under the Door and back up to the closest Pulley. The Rope should be over the Pulley’s Roller.
6. Feed the Rope furthest from the Butterfly Cleat across the top of the Door and through the other Pulley. Both Ropes should be on top of the Roller of the Pulley closest to the Butterfly Cleat.
7. Holding both Ropes together, pull to roll up Door to desired height, then tie to Butterfly Cleat to secure.

Maintenance

Procedures not specifically explained in this manual must be performed only by a qualified technician.

• WARNING: TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM PRODUCT FAILURE:
• Do not use damaged products. If damage is noted, have the problem corrected before further use.
• DURING FIRST WEEK, check periodically. Tighten ratchet tie-downs and all hardware as needed.
• MONTHLY, inspect the general condition of the Portable Garage. Check for:
• loose ratchet tie downs, anchors, tube connections, and rail clamps (tighten as needed),
• torn or frayed covers, straps, or cables,
• cracked, bent, or broken parts, and
• any other condition that may affect its safe operation.

Cleaning

1. Immediately remove any accumulated debris from the cover with a broom, mop, or another soft-sided instrument from the outside. DO NOT use sharp instruments.
2. PERIODICALLY, clean and cover with mild soap and water. DO NOT use bleach or harsh abrasive products.
