EVELO Omega Belt Tension Adjustment Bike
This guide shows how to adjust the belt tension on your EVELO Omega
Sliding Dropouts
Your Omega uses adjustable sliding dropouts to set the belt tension. This system allows you to remove and reinstall the wheel without needing to adjust the tension afterward.
Step 1:
Using a 5mm allen wrench, loosen the 2 dropout mounting bolts on each side of
the bike.
Step 2:
There is a bolt for adjusting the tension on each side of the bike, right
above the axle nut. It is mostly hidden, and can only be seen and accessed
from the rear.
Using a 4mm allen wrench, adjust the bolts on each side to set your desired
tension. Turn the wrench clockwise to increase belt tension. Turn the wrench
counter-clockwise to decrease belt tension.
Please be sure to turn the bolt on each side the same amount to ensure the
wheel stays centered.
There are lots of tools available to set the tension on the Gates Belt, but we can’t recommend any of them. We’ve found that we get better results just by setting it up like a chain. In general, looser is better, so long as the belt isn’t skipping. We like to see 1/2” of deflection in both directions at the middle of the belt when pressed lightly. (1” total deflection)
Step 3:
Using a 5mm allen wrench, tighten the 2 dropout mounting bolts on each side of
the bike.
Go ride your bike!
