WASHER-DRYER SAFETY

Your safety and the safety of others are very important
We have provided many important safety messages in this manual and on your appliance. Always read and obey all safety messages.

This is the safety alert symbol.
This symbol alerts you to potential hazards that can kill or hurt you and others.
All safety messages will follow the safety alert symbol and either the word “DANGER” or “WARNING.” These words mean:

DANGER: You can be killed or seriously injured if you don’t immediately follow instructions.

WARNING: You can be killed or seriously injured if you don’t follow instructions.

All safety messages will tell you what the potential hazard is, tell you how to reduce the chance of injury, and tell you what can happen if the instructions are not followed.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons when using the dryer, follow basic precautions, including the following:

  • Read all instructions before using the washer.
  • Do not wash articles that have been previously cleaned in, washed in, soaked in, or spotted with gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents, other flammable, or explosive substances as they give off vapors that could ignite or explode.
  • Do not add gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents, or other flammable, or explosive substances to the wash water. These substances give off vapors that could ignite or explode.
  • Under certain conditions, Hydrogen gas may be produced in a hot water system that has not been used for 2 weeks or more. HYDROGEN GAS IS EX-PLOSIVE. If the hot water system has not been used for such a period, before using the appliance, turn on all hot-water faucets and let the water flow for several minutes. This will release any accumulated hydrogen gas. As the gas is flammable, do not smoke or use an open flame during this time.
  • Turn off water faucets when appliance is not in use to relieve pressure on hoses and valves and to minimize leakage if a break or rupture occurs.
  • Do not allow children to play on or in the washer. Close supervision of children is necessary when the washer is used near children.
  • Before the washer is removed from service or discarded, remove the door or lid.
  • Do not reach into the washer if the drum, tub or agitator is moving.
  • Do not install or store the washer where it will be exposed to the weather.
  • Do not tamper with controls.
  • Do not repair or replace any part of the washer or attempt any servicing unless specifically recommended in this manual or in published user-repair instructions that you understand and have the skills to carry out.
  • See Installation Instructions for grounding instructions.
  • Do not use replacement parts that have not been recommended by the manufacturer (e.g. parts made at home using a 3D printer).

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Read all instructions before using the dryer.
  • Do not place items exposed to cooking oils in your dryer. Items contaminated with cooking oils may contribute to a chemical reaction that could cause a load to catch fire. To reduce the risk of fire due to contaminated loads, the final part of a tumble dryer cycle occurs without heat (cool down period). Avoid stopping a tumble dryer before the end of the drying cycle unless all items are quickly removed and spread out so that the heat is dissipated.
  • Do not dry articles that have been previously cleaned in, washed in, soaked in, or spotted with gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents, or other flammable or explosive substances as they give off vapors that could ignite or explode.
  • Do not allow children to play on or in the dryer. Close supervision of children is necessary when the dryer is used near children.
  • Before the dryer is removed from service or discarded, remove the door to the drying compartment.
  • Do not reach into the dryer if the drum is moving.
  • Do not install or store the dryer where it will be exposed to the weather.
  • Do not tamper with controls.
  • Under certain conditions, Hydrogen gas may be produced in a hot water system that has not been used for 2 weeks or more. HYDROGEN GAS IS EXPLOSIVE. If the hot water system has not been used for such a period,  before using the appliance, turn on all hot-water faucets and let the water flow for several minutes. This will release any accumulated hydrogen gas. As the gas is flammable, do not smoke or use an open flame during this time.
  • Do not repair or replace any part of the dryer or attempt any servicing unless specifically recommended in this Use and Care Guide or in published user-repair instructions that you understand and have the skills to carry out.
  • Do not use fabric softeners or product to eliminate static unless recommended by the manufacturer of the fabric softener or product.
  • Do not use clothes dryer fabric softener in combo units.
  • Do not use heat to dry articles containing foam rubber or similarly textured rubber-like materials.
  • Keep area around the exhaust opening and adjacent surrounding areas free from the accumulation of lint, dust, and dirt.
  • The interior of the dryer and exhaust vent should be cleaned peri-odically by qualified service personnel.
  • See Installation Instructions for grounding instructions.
  • Do not use replacement parts that have not been recommended by the manufacturer (e.g. parts made at home using a 3D printer).
  • Turn off water faucets to relieve pressure on hoses and valves and to minimize leakage if a break or rupture occurs.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: Excessive Weight Hazard
Use two or more people to move and install appliance.
Failure to do so can result in back or other injury.

WARNING – “Risk of Fire”

  • Clothes dryer installation must be performed by a qualified installer.
Install the clothes dryer according to the manufacturer’s instructions and local codes.

  • Do not install a clothes dryer with flexible plastic venting materials. If flexible metal duct is installed, it must be of a specific type identified by the appliance manufacturer as suitable for use with clothes dryers. Flexible venting materials are known to collapse, be easily crushed, and trap lint. These conditions will obstruct clothes dryer airflow and increase risk of fire.

  • To reduce the risk of severe injury or death, follow all installation instructions.

  • Save these instructions.

Install the clothes washer-dryer according to the manufacturer’s instructions and local codes.

UNPACKING AND LEVELING

Unpacking

  1. Remove the washer-dryer from its packaging.

TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS

When doing a wash + dry cycle:
The washer capacity is greater than the dryer capacity. Between the wash cycle and the dry cycle, remove some clothes if needed so that the drum is no more than half full, for best performance. This will allow more airflow during the dry cycle.

Divide the laundry according to:
Type of fabric (cotton, mixed fibers, synthetics, wool, garments to be hand- washed). Color (separate colored garments from whites, wash new colored garments separately). Delicates (small garments – such as nylon stockings – and items with hooks – such as bras: insert them in a fabric bag).

Empty the pockets:
Objects such as coins or lighters can damage the washer-dryer and the drum. Check all buttons.

OPENING THE PORTHOLE DOOR MANUALLY

In the event that it is not possible to open the porthole door due to a power cut, and if you wish to remove the laundry, proceed as follows:

Splendide-WDV2200XCD-Combo-Washer-Dryer-42

  1. Remove the plug from the electrical socket.
  2. Make sure the water level inside the machine is lower than the door opening; if it is not, remove excess water using the drain hose, collecting it in a bucket as indicated in the figure.
  3. Using a screwdriver, remove the cover panel on the lower front part of the washer-dryer (see figure).Splendide-WDV2200XCD-Combo-Washer-Dryer-19
  4. Unscrew and remove the screw that is holding the tab in place.
  5. Pull outwards using the tab as indicated in the figure, until the plastic tie-rod is freed from its stop position; pull downwards and open the door at the same time.
  6. Reposition the panel, making sure the hooks are securely in place before you push it onto the appliance.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

Do not use flammable fluids to clean the washer-dryer.

NOTE: Turn off the water supply after every wash. This will limit the wear of your appliance’s water system and also prevent leaks. Unplug your appliance when cleaning it, while on vacation, and during all maintenance operations.

Cleaning the outside of the washer-dryer
The outer parts and rubber components of the appliance can be cleaned using a soft cloth soaked in lukewarm soapy water. Do not use solvents or abrasives.
Do not use glass or general purpose cleaners, scouring powder or similar to clean the control panel – these substances might damage the surfaces.

Cleaning the inside of the washer-dryer
The washer-dryer has a “Clean Washer ” cycle for its internal parts; it must be run without any load in the drum. To optimize this cycle, use regular liquid chlorine bleach. Pour bleach into both the softener compartment and the extra bleach compartments, filling both to their respective max fill levels. Do not use thickened or splash-less bleach as excess suds may occur.

Note: Use of more liquid chlorine bleach than is recommended above could cause washer-dryer damage over time.
To start the program, close the door, turn the machine ON and set “Clean Washer ” cycle.
To stop the cycle, press the START/PAUSE button.
We recommend running a cleaning cycle every 30 wash cycles.

Caring for the door and drum
Always leave the porthole door ajar in order to prevent unpleasant odors from forming.
For better care, periodically wipe the entire inside of the door with a damp cloth, and also inspect the gray-colored seal between the door opening and the drum for buildup. Wipe the seal clean using a damp.

CHECKING THE WATER SUPPLY HOSE

Check the inlet hose regularly (at least once per year) for brittleness and cracks. If damaged, replace it immediately. During the wash cycles, water pressure is very strong and a cracked hose could easily split open

Splendide-WDV2200XCD-Combo-Washer-Dryer-20If the inlet hose has a transparent coating, periodically check if the color intensifies locally. If yes, the hose may have a leak and should be replaced.
NOTE: Do Not Use Second-Hand Hoses.

CLEANING THE MESH FILTERS IN THE WATER INLET VALVES
  1. Close water tap and unscrew the inlet hose.
    NOTE: Never use second-hand hoses.Splendide-WDV2200XCD-Combo-Washer-
Dryer-21

  2. Now unscrew the inlet hose on the back of the washer-dryer by hand. Wipe any debris off of the mesh filter on the water inlet valve with your hand or using a squirt bottle to flush it out with water.Splendide-WDV2200XCD-Combo-Washer-Dryer-22

  3. Attach one inlet hose to the water faucet. Screw on coupling by hand until it is seated on washer. Use pliers to tighten couplings an additional two-thirds turn. Turn on that hose’s respective water supply, and check for leaks. Tighten if necessary. Repeat this step with the second inlet hose. Both inlet hoses must be connected for washer-dryer to work properly.
IMPORTANT: Do not overtighten or use tape or sealants on valve when attaching to faucets or washer-dryer.
    IMPORTANT: Always inspect for leaks.

CLEANING THE DETERGENT DISPENSER

Remove the dispenser by rotating out to fully open position and then pulling it out (see figure). The drawer will slide on the handle.
You may find some residue buildup in or behind the washer-dryer’s dispenser. Wipe the surfaces with a damp cloth and towel dry. Use an all-purpose surface cleaner, if needed.
Replace the dispenser by sliding it back onto the handle and make sure
that it is correctly seated.

CLEANING THE WATER FILTER / DRAINING RESIDUAL WATER

If you used a hot wash program, wait until the water has cooled down before draining any water.
Clean the water filter regularly, to ensure that there are no obstructions in the filter, that could prevent the water from draining during or after a wash cycle.

NOTE: Perform the following procedure every 6 months.

  1. Remove the cover panel: Using a screwdriver, do that which is shown in the following figure.

  2. Container for the drained water:
Place a low and wide container under the water filter in order to collect the residual water.

  3. Drain the water:
Slowly turn the filter counter-clockwise until all the water has come out. Allow the water to flow out without removing the filter. Once the container is full, close the water filter by turning it clockwise. Empty the container. Repeat the procedure until all the water has been drained. Splendide-
WDV2200XCD-Combo-Washer-Dryer-27

  4. Remove filter: Lay a cotton cloth beneath the water filter, which can absorb a small amount of rest water. Then remove the water filter by turning it out counter-clockwise.Splendide-WDV2200XCD-Combo-Washer-Dryer-28

  5. Clean the water filter: remove large clumps of lint by hand from the filter and place lint in a suitable waste container. Remove remaining residue from the filter by rinsing with water.Splendide-WDV2200XCD-Combo-Washer-Dryer-29

  6. Insert the water filter and reinstall the cover panel: Reinsert the water filter again by turning it in clockwise direction. Make sure to turn it in as far as it goes; the filter handle must be in vertical position. To test water tightness of the water filter, you can pour about 1 liter (0.22 gal) of water into the detergent dispenser. Then reinstall the cover panel.Splendide-WDV2200XCD-Combo-Washer-Dryer-30

Do not lift the washer-dryer by holding it at the worktop.

  1. Turn off the water, and unplug the washer-dryer.
Make sure that door and detergent dispenser are properly closed.

  2. Disconnect the inlet hose from the water tap, and remove the drain hose from your draining point. Empty all the water remaining in the hoses and secure the latter so that they do not get damaged during transport.

  3. Reinsert the four (4) transport bolts. Follow the instructions for  removing the transport bolts in the “Installation Instructions” in reverse order.

IMPORTANT: Do not transport the washer-dryer without having the transport bolts properly inserted.
