  • Do not put any detergent or chemical sub-stance in the boiler. Water by its nature contains magnesium, mineral salts, and other deposits which in hard water areas can contribute to limescale build-up in the tank. To avoid these problems, it is necessary to swill out with tap water and empty the generator tank every 3 or 4 uses. In hard water areas, we recommend the use of KALSTOP, a special natural-base decalcified that inhibits and breaks down limescale, making it easy to remove just by swilling out the tank with a little tap water. This is a preventive against limescale build-up and protects the metal walls of the steam generator tank. KALSTOP is available from Polti dealers or by mail-order from your Polti Service Centre.
  • Do not try to unscrew the safety cap or Empty the appliance whilst the water in the boiler is still hot.
  • Do not refill the boiler while it is still hot. Allow it to cool for a good few minutes before
  • Do not open the safety cap while the appliance is ON.
  • When REFILLING the generator boiler, use HOT , not cold water. Pour in gradually and gently at first and keep your face and other exposed skin well away. Otherwise, the still-hot boiler walls may spit drops of very hot water or steam spray.
  • Make sure the patented safety cap is fully and correctly screwed on, otherwise you may experience steam escaping from around the cap.
  • Check periodically the safety cap and MAKE SURE the rubber gasket is in place around the base of the screw thread. Replace with original spare parts if necessary. DO NOT USE STEAM FUNCTION if the rubber gasket is not in position.
  • If you iron sitting down, do not place your legs under the ironing board, the steam can cause burns.
  • Iron only on heat-resistant surfaces and on surfaces that allow the steam to escape e.g. MESH ironing boards.
  • For iron rest mat replacement use only the original spare parts.

Important

Preparation use

  • 1a. Fit the flex holder ( 4 ) to the appliance. Place the combined steam iron flex ( 8 ) into the support (fig.1).
  • 2a. Unscrew the patented safety cap ( 1 ) and fill the boiler with about 1.3 liters of water using the special funnel ( 6 ) making sure that it does not overflow (fig.2).
  • Normal tap water can be used. However, as hard water by its nature contains limestone, which may cause a build-up of limescale in the tank, in hard water areas we recommend the use of our natural- base decalcifier KALSTOP FP 2003.
  • 3a. Retighten the cap fully and carefully. Make sure the patented safety cap ( 1 ) is fully and correctly screwed on, otherwise you may experience steam escaping from around the cap.
  • 4a. Connect the power supply cable (9) to an earthed power supply of the correct voltage.
  • 5a. Switch on the boiler and iron by pressing switches ( 2 ) and ( 3 ). The pressure indicator light ( 5 ) will light up.

Instructions For Use

Check the manufacturer’s label on the garment, and interpret the symbol on the label as follows:

  • Steam ironing allowed–set the dial to its MAXIMUM travel and set the temperature according to the kind of fabric.
  • DRY IRON only, with the iron dial set to the temperature according to the kind of fabric dot. N.B. NEVER CALL FOR
  • STEAM BY PRESSING STEAM RE-QUEST BUTTON when DRY ironing. See special instructions for DRY ironing in the instruction book.
  • DO NOT IRON. Neither steam nor dry ironing is allowed.
  1. b. For STEAM ironing set the iron temperature to its maximum travel on the “COTTON – LINEN” steam position (fig.3), by turning the dial ( 7 ). NB Set at its maximum, do NOT set against the picture of the iron on the dial (7). Most fabric types, other than delicates, can be STEAM-ironed at this temperature, please consult the garment label. If you want to DRY iron, set the dial (7) to the required temperature for the fabric, as shown on the dial. Nb fabric indications on the dial are for DRY ironing, for STEAM ironing set at maximum travel as explained above.

  2. b. Wait for the pressure indicator light (5) to go out (about 15 minutes). Push button (10) on the iron to release bursts of steam from the holes on the soleplate. Release the button and the steam will stop (fig.4).
NOTE: during the initial operation of the iron, a few drops of water mixed with steam may come out of the soleplate until the temperature stabilizes. It is advisable to direct the first jets of steam onto an old cloth until a uniform stable jet of steam is obtained. RECOMMENDED TECHNIQUE for STEAM ironing with Polti iron is APPLY steam (button 10) on the upstroke, then release button (10) (so no steam) for the backstroke, so reclosing the fibers, preventing oversteaming and wetness.

  3. b The appliance is equipped with a rigid iron rest mat (11) which can be removed and put elsewhere if required.
    NOTE:

    • The steam pressure indicator (5) may go on and off from time to time during the use of Vaporella. This means the machine maintains the correct and constant pressure and is quite normal.
    • If no steam is released from the iron, check: the steam pressure indicator (5) is OFF and that there is water in the boiler.

FAQ’s

What is the ideal lifespan of a steam generator iron?

Expect the Vaporella Polti 2H Professional steam generator iron-AIBU to survive more than 4 years.

How effective are Polti steam generator irons?

A top-notch iron. Amazing steam power that can be used for continuous steam if necessary. It is quite comfy to use and not too hefty. A terrific value as well.

Why doesn’t my steam generator iron generate steam?

You could have blocked steam vents. The iron needs to be descaled. Descaler products are available for purchase or DIY creation. The easiest and most economical method is to combine 50/50 distilled water and vinegar in a cup and use it as a solution.

Which water is ideal for a steam generator iron?

Consequently, it is advised to use distilled or demineralized water (50 percent tap water and 50 percent demineralized water might also be used) to increase the lifespan of your iron or steamer.

What is the electrical consumption of a steam generator iron?

Each day, a steam iron or flatiron requires around 800–2000 watts. For instance, your iron will consume about 5 kWh of power if you leave it on for 10 minutes each day for a month.

How much time does it take a steam generator iron to heat up?

Before it can start producing steam, your Philips steam generator iron has to heat up for up to 2 minutes.

What benefits can steam generator irons offer?

A steam generator iron is the best tool for handling bulky bedding and laundry heaps.

What is the heat source for producing steam?

Since the feedwater temperature is substantially greater, the boiler only needs 1,149.1 Btu/lbm (1,474.1 – 325.0) of heat input to create the necessary steam.

Can you fix a steam iron?

Most steam iron repairs are for broken cords, cracked handles, and mineral buildup.

Do you have to use steam to iron?

A dry iron or a steam iron are the two types of irons used to iron clothing. Steam is not produced by dry irons.

Can steam generator irons utilize ironing water?

While using the “ironing water” that may get at the grocery store, you need to exercise great caution. While it frequently states on the bottle that it is “not appropriate for steam generator irons,” we wouldn’t recommend using it with a regular iron either.

What causes the noise my steam generator iron makes?

Your Philips Steam Generator’s boiler is filled with water, and this process may make noise.

What distinguishes a steam iron from one that uses a steam generator?

A significant distinction between a steam generator iron and its conventional version is the enormous (1.3L–2L) separate water tank it possesses.

Do you provide the steam generator with hot or cold water?

You can use either hot or cold water. Although creating steam with hot water will assist a little, the difference is scarcely perceptible. All of our devices use Quackster technology, so steam production will start in approximately a minute.

What is a steam generator’s efficiency?

Multistage (moderate to high pressure ratio) steam turbines have thermodynamic efficiencies that range from over 90% for big industrial and utility sized units to about 65% for extremely tiny (under 1,000 kW) units. Efficiency levels for small, single-stage steam turbines can fall as low as 40%.
