  • Warning! When using mains-powered appliances, basic safety precautions, including the following, should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, personal injury and material damage.
  • Read all of this manual carefully before using the appliance.
  • The intended use is described in this manual. The use of any accessory or attachment or the performance of any operation with this appliance other than those recommended in this instruction manual may present a risk of personal injury.
  • Retain this manual for future reference.
  • Always route the cord carefully so it does not hang over the edge of a worktop and cannot be caught accidentally or tripped over.
  • Never operate an appliance directly below the socket-outlet it is connected to.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
  • Use the blender according to this instruction, any misuse may cause electric shock or other hazards.

Intended use

Your BLACK+DECKER™ SBX300-B5, SBX300B-B5, SBX300G-B5, SBX300BG-B5, SBX300BCG-B5 blender has been designed for blending and grinding only. This product is intended for household use only.
This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:

  • Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
  • Farm houses;
  • By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
  • Bed and breakfast type environments;

Using your appliance

  • Always take care when using the appliance.
  • Never pull the power supply cord to disconnect the plug from the socket. Keep the power supply cord away from heat, oil and sharp edges.
  • Do not place the appliance on or near heat sources or in a heated oven.
  • Avoid spilling water on the Power Base.
  • Do not use the appliance near flammable or explosive materials.
  • Do not use the appliance outdoors.
  • Operate the appliance only with dry hands.
  • If the power supply cord is damaged during use, disconnect the appliance from the power supply immediately. Do not touch the power supply cord before disconnecting from the power supply.
  • Disconnect the appliance from the power supply when not in use, before fitting or removing parts and before cleaning.
  • This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
  • The outer surface of the blender may become hot when in use.
  • Allow moving parts to come to a stop before removing any cover.
  • Allow moving parts to come to a stop before approaching.
  • Unit must be attended in use
  • Be careful if hot liquid is poured into the food processor or blender as it can be ejected out of the appliance due to a sudden steaming.

Safety of others

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Do not allow children or any person unfamiliar with these instructions to use the appliance.
  • Do not allow children or animals to come near the work area or to touch the appliance or power supply cord.
  • Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children

After use

  • Switch off, remove the plug from the socket and let the appliance cool down before leaving it unattended and before changing, cleaning or inspecting any  parts of the appliance.
  • When not in use, the appliance should be stored in a dry place. Children should not have access to stored appliances.

Inspection and repairs

  • Before use, check the appliance for damaged or defective parts. Check for breakage of parts, damage to switches and any other conditions that may affect its
    operation.

  • Do not use the appliance if any part is damaged or defective.

  • Have any damaged or defective parts repaired or replaced by an authorised repair agent.

  • Before use, check the power supply cord for signs of damage, ageing and wear.

  • Do not use the appliance if the power supply cord or mains plug is damaged or defective.

  • If the power supply cord or mains plug is damaged or defective it must be repaired by an authorised repair agent in order to avoid a hazard. Do not cut the power supply cord and do not attempt to repair it yourself.

  • Never attempt to remove or replace any parts other than those specified in this manual.

Electrical safety

Your charger is double insulated; therefore no earth wire is required. Always check that the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate. Never attempt to replace the charger unit with a regular mains plug.

  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised BLAACK+DECKER Service Centre in order to avoid a hazard.

To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the cord, plug or appliance in water or other liquid.

Before first use

  • Remove all packaging from the appliance.
  • Clean the appliance before first use.
  • Check that all parts are complete and not damaged.
  • Choose the appropriate attachment to perform your desired task:
  • The blender attachment is suitable for blending fruits or vegetables or crushing ice.
  • The grinder attachment is for grinding coffee beans.

Warning! The blades are sharp, handle with great care and ensure that you unplug the appliance from power outlet before assembling and removing parts.

Using the juice cup

  • Screw the juicing cup on the juice cup cover clockwise (step 1).
  • Fill the food into the juicing cup (step 2).
  • Screw the juice cup base on the juice cup assembly clockwise (step 3).
  • Place the juice cup assembly onto the main body and rotate clockwise by holding the surface of the juice cup base (step 4) to lock until you hear a slight click. The markings on the main body and the juice cup base should now be aligned with each other. If this is the case, the juice cup assembly is locked correctly. Now the blender is ready for use.
  • Plug in. Press the power button inwards and remains on as long as the power button keeps being pressed.
  • After you have completed blending, release the power button to stop running.
  • After use, unplug and dismantle
  • Rotate anticlockwise to unlock and remove the juice cup assembly from the main body.
  • Place the juice cup assembly downwards. Unscrew the juice cup base anticlockwise from the juice cup and pour out the food.
  • If necessary, unscrew the juice cup cover anticlockwise and remove from the juice cup.
  • Warning: The continuous operating time must be less than 1 minute. Never blend hot oil, fat or meat. Do not operate without liquid.
  • If your blender gets blocked, first stop and unplug before clearing.
  • For the convenience of drinking clean and fresh mixture, screw the juice cup cap on the juice cup clockwise. The hand hook on the juice cup cap is designed for being easily portable. Push up the snap fastener to open the outlet when drinking or pouring out the inside mixture at any time.
  • Always unplug before cleaning. Please refer to the instruction in the “Cleaning and maintenance””.

Using the dry grinding cup

  • Fill the food into the Grinding Cup (step 1).
  • Screw the grinding cup base on the grinding cup clockwise (step 2).
  • Place the grinding cup base assembly onto the main body and rotate clockwise by holding the surface of the grinding cup base (step 3) to lock until you hear a slight click. The markings on the main body and the grinding cup base should now be aligned with each other. If this is the case, the grinding cup base assembly is locked correctly. Now the blender is ready for use.
  • Plug in. Press the power button inwards and remains on as long as the power button keeps being pressed.
  • After you have completed blending, Release the power button to stop running.
  • After use, unplug and dismantle
  • Rotate anticlockwise to unlock and remove the grinding cup base assembly from the main body.
  • Place the grinding cup assembly downwards. Unscrew the grinding cup base anticlockwise from the grinding cup and pour out the food.
  • Warning: The continuous operating time must be less than 30 seconds.
  • If your dry grinder gets blocked, first stop and unplug before clearing.
  • For the convenience of eating clean and fresh mixture, screw the grinding cup cap on the grinding cup clockwise. The hand hook on the grinding cup cap is designed for being easily portable. Push up the snap fastener to open the outlet when eating or pouring out the inside mixture at any time.
  • Always switch off and unplug before cleaning. Please refer to the instruction in the “Cleaning and maintenance”.

Using the 300ml/500ml sports bottle

  • Fill the food into the sports bottle (step 1).
  • Screw the sports bottle base on the sports bottle clockwise (step 2).
  • Place the sports bottle base assembly onto the main body and rotate clockwise by holding the surface of the sports bottle base (step 3) to lock until you hear a slight click. The markings on the main body and the sports bottle base should now be aligned with each other. If this is the case, the sports bottle base assembly is locked correctly. Now the blender is ready for use.
  • Plug in. Press the power button inwards and remains on as long as the power button keeps being pressed.
  • After you have completed blending, Release the power button to stop running.
  • After use, unplug and dismantle
  • Rotate anticlockwise to unlock and remove the sports bottle base assembly from the main body.
  • Place the sports bottle assembly downwards. Unscrew the sports bottle base anticlockwise from the sports bottle and pour out the food.
  • Warning: The continuous operating time must be less than 1 minute. Never blend hot oil, fat or meat. Do not operating without liquid.
  • If your blender gets blocked, first stop and unplug before clearing.
  • For the convenience of drinking clean and fresh mixture, screw the sports bottle cap on the sports bottle clockwise. The hand hook on the sports bottle cap is designed for being easily portable. Push up the snap fastener to open the outlet when drinking or pouring out the inside mixture at any time. The sports bottle cap can also be placed onto the bottom of the Cup when blending.
  • Always switch off and unplug before cleaning. Please refer to the instruction in the “Cleaning and maintenance”.

Using the citrus juicing attachment

  • Unscrew the juice cup cover anticlockwise and remove from the juice cup base assembly.
  • Turn the citrus juicing attachment anticlockwise or clockwise on the juice cup base assembly.
  • Cut alemon into halves. Place the half onto the citrus juicing attachment. Twist the lemon left or right, and then the juice will flow into the Beaker.
  • After use, rotate the citrus juicing attachment until the caved position fits in with the chime of the opening of the juice cup, and then pull up the citrus juicing attachment and remove from the juice cup base assembly.
  • Screw the juice cup cover on the juice cup.

Using the blender jar

  • Turn the Blender jar blade base anticlockwise to the blender jar (step 1).
  • Either fill directly the food into the blender jar (step 2)
  • Put the measuring cup into blender jar cover, place the blender jar cover assembly onto the blender jar and turn the cover clockwise (step 3) until you hear a slight click. If this is the case, the blender jar cover is locked correctly.
  • Position the blender jar assembly onto the main body and rotate the blender jar assembly clockwise (step 4) until you hear a slight click. The markings on the main body and the blender jar should now be aligned with each other. If this is the case, the blender jar assembly is locked correctly. Now the blender is ready for use.
  • Plug in. Press the power button inwards and remains on as long as the power button keeps being pressed.
  • After you have completed blending, release the power button to stop running.
  • After use, unplug and dismantle
  • Rotate anticlockwise to unlock and remove the blender jar assembly from the main body.
  • Turn the blender jar cover anticlockwise to remove from the blender jar and pour out the food.
  • Turn the blender jar blade base clockwise to remove form the blender jar for cleaning separately
  • Warning: The continuous operating time must be less than 1 minute. Never blend hot oil, fat or meat. Do not operating without liquid.
  • If your blender gets blocked, first stop and unplug before clearing.
  • Always switch off and unplug before cleaning. Please refer to the instruction in the “Cleaning and maintenance”
  • To avoid spilling, do not remove the blender jar cover while blending.
  • Only when the contents do not exceed the maximum indicated level on the blender jar, the food can be added into the jar through the measuring cap while in use.

ATTENTION! Times for processing will vary with the quantity.

Blending tips

  • Food items for blending should be cut into cubes (approximately 1-2cm), this will assist in achieving an even result.

  • Never fill the Juice cup, Sports bottle, Grinding Cup or
    Blender jar above the maximum level indicated.

  • When pureeing fruit or vegetable, cooked or raw, cut into small pieces to facilitate blending.

  • Always ensure stones are removed from fruit as these can harm the blades.

  • Do not process hot liquids in your blender. Allows to cool before processing.

  • All the ingredients and foods must be below 40° centigrade.

Cleaning and maintenance

Unplug the appliance and detach all the accessories before cleaning.

  1. Half fill the Juice cup, Sports bottle, Grinding Cup or Blender jar with warm and a small amount of detergent.

  2. Press the Power button inwards and hold for 1-2 seconds and release. Repeat 3-4 times.

  3. Then remove the Juice cup, Sports bottle, Grinding Cup or Blender jar and rinse it under running water.

  4. For thorough cleaning, wash the Juice cup, Sports Bottle, Grinding Cup, Blender Jar, Citrus Juicing attachment, fJuice Cup Cap, Sports Bottle Cup Cap, Blending Jar Cover or Measuring Cup in the dishwasher or in warm soapy water.
    Caution: Do not put Juice Cup Base, Sports Bottle Base, Grinding Cup Base or Blender Jar Blade Base in dishwasher.

  5. The Juice Cup Base, Sports Bottle Base, Grinding Cup Base or Blender Jar Blade Base can be cleaned in running water in the direction of the blades upwards. Do not flush the bottom of all the bases.

Caution: Do not put Juice Cup Base, Sports Bottle Base, Grinding Cup Base or Blender Jar Blade Base in dishwasher.
Caution: Take care when cleaning the blades as they are extremely sharp.

To clean the motor base

Use a damp, soft sponge with detergent and wipe over the motor base.
Note: Never immerse the motor base in water or other liquids.

Storage

  1. Coil the power cord around the cord storage at the bottom of the motor base.
  2. Store in a cool and dry place.

Mains plug replacement

If a new mains plug needs to be fitted:

  • Safely dispose of the old plug.
  • Connect the brown lead to the live terminal in the new plug.
  • Connect the blue lead to the neutral terminal.
  • If the product is class I (earthed), connect the green/yellow lead to the earth terminal

Note! If your product is class II double insulated (only 2 wires in the cord set), no connection is to be made to the earth terminal.
Follow the fitting instructions supplied with good quality plugs. Any replacement fuse must be of the same rating as the original fuse supplied with the product.
Warning! The above section on mains plug replacement is for authorized service centre persons.

Protecting the environment

Separate collection. This product must not be disposed of with normal household waste.
Should you find one day that your BLACK+DECKER product/needs replacement, or if it is of no further use to you, do not dispose of it with other household waste. Make this product available for separate collection.

  • BLACK+DECKER provides a facility for recycling BLACK+DECKER products once they have reached the end of their working life. This service is  provided free of charge. To take advantage of this service please return your product to any authorised repair agent who will collect them on our behalf.

If a BLACK+DECKER product becomes defective due to faulty materials, workmanship or lack of conformity, within 24 months from the date of purchase, BLAACK+DECKER warranty to replace defective parts, repair products subjected to fair wear and tear or replace such products to ensure minimum inconvenience to the customer unless:

  • The product has been used for trade, professional or hire purposes;
  • The product has been subjected to misuse or neglect;
  • The product has sustained damage through foreign objects, substances or accidents;
  • Repairs have been attempted by persons other than authorised repair agents or BLAACK+DECKER service staff.
