OPERATION

Read and follow all safety instructions before using the shredder.
Your shredder can operate in either Auto-Feed Mode or Manual Feed Mode. The auto-feed slot can shred up to 60 sheets of paper at a time, whereas the manual feed can handle up to 6 sheets of standard paper at one time.

Manual Feed Mode

  1. Slide the function switch to the AUTO position.
  2. Put up to 6 sheets of paper into the manual paper feed opening and your shredder will switch on automatically.
  3. To shred credit cards and small receipts make sure to insert them into feed opening by the area marked with the credit card icon.
  4. After shredding is completed, slide the function switch back to the OFF position.

Auto-Feed Mode:

  1. Slide the function switch to the AUTO position.
  2. Insert up to 60 sheets of paper into the auto-feed tray.
  3. Make sure to remove all staples and paper clips prior to shredding as this may cause your shredder to jam. Only paper should be shredded through the auto- feed tray.
  4. Once paper is inserted into the auto-feed tray, the shredder will automatically start operating and begin the shredding process. It will take approximately 2-3 sheets at a time, until all the paper in the feed tray is shredded.
  5. Your shredder will continue to shred approximately 2-3 sheets at a time, until all the paper in the feed tray is shredded.
  6. As soon as all the paper in the auto feed tray is shredded, the unit will go back into standby mode.
  7. After shredding is completed, slide the function switch back to the OFF position

CLEARING PAPER JAMS

Clearing Manual Feed Paper Jams:
To clear a paper jam from the manual feed opening, simply switch the function button to the reverse position (REV) and manually pull out the paper in the feed opening to clear the jam. Once the paper is removed, switch the function button back to the AUTO position and resume shredding.

Clearing Auto Feed Paper Jams:

  1. Move the Power Slide Switch to the OFF Position, and unplug your shredder.
  2. Facing the Panel located right under the Auto Feed opening, locate the access knob in the center of the panel and twist it to the unlock position and hold it.
  3. While holding the access knob in the unlock position, gently lift and pull the bottom section of the panel away from the shredder head. This will give you full access to the feed opening area.
  4. Remove all jammed paper and any paper residue that is causing the jam.
  5. After finishing to clear the jam, twist the access knob to the unlock position and hold it.
  6. While holding the access knob, replace the panel back into it’s original position, making sure that it is seated properly in its designated recessed area on the shredder head. Make sure that the side connecting pins are properly inserted.
  7. Release the access switch and twist it back to the lock position.
  8. Confirm that the panel is locked in position by checking to be sure that it cannot be moved. (Please note that the Shredder will not power up if the panel is not properly seated and locked in place)
  9. Replug your shredder into the power outlet and move the Power Slide Switch to the AUTO Position You should now be able to start shredding again.

OVERHEAT PROTECTION

  1. Frequent or continuous use may cause motor to exceed normal operating temperature.
  2. Overheat and bin-full use the same light. When the light is blue, it means the bin is full. When the light is red, it means it’s overheated.
  3. Auto feed mode: After approximately 12 minutes of continuous operation, the overheat protection feature causes motor to shut off. Manual feed mode: After approximately 5 minutes of continuous operation, the overheat protection feature causes motor to shut off.
  4. Unplug the shredder power cord from the electrical outlet and allow shredder motor to cool (approximately 60 minutes to completely cool).
  5. Once the motor has cooled it will return to normal operation.

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

  • PROBLEM:
    Unit does not power up.
    SOLUTION
Make sure that shredder head is properly placed on the waste basket. The shredder handle and the basket window should be facing the front. This unit has an automatic sensor, which switches the shredder off when the shredder head is removed from the wastebasket. In addition make sure that the auto feed panel is properly closed (see steps 7-9 in “Clearing Auto Feed Paper Jams”)

  • PROBLEM
    Power turned off while shredding.
    SOLUTION
This unit is equipped with a motor overheat protection circuit, which may terminate power automatically if your shredder’s motor overheats. If this happens the shredder’s overheat LED will illuminate. To reset the motor overheat circuit, turn the unit off and wait about 30-60 minutes for the motor to cool down before attempting to shred again.

  • PROBLEM
Paper is jammed and shredder does not run.
    SOLUTION
Too many sheets of paper are being fed into shredder at one time. Press the “REV” button to clear.

  • PROBLEM
Shredder motor is making loud and/or irregular noises during operation
    SOLUTION
Your motor or gears could be damaged. Please immediately stop use, unplug the machine and call customer support for assistance.
