DEXIS Imaging Suite Software Manage
DSM – DEXIS Software Manager
DEXIS Software Manager is a software product from DEXIS Imaging that allows
the dental practice to keep up to date with DEXIS’s latest offerings. DSM
utilizes cloud technology to provide automated download and installation of
software and updates without the need for physical media such as a DVD or USB
drives. It is currently packaged with the DEXIS IO Sensor driver download on
tech.dexis.com, and with the USB drive that ships with DEXIS Titanium / DEXIS
IXS sensors.
Once installed, DEXIS Software Manager examines the current DEXIS software
installed on the computer and presents a customized list of software updates
and links to other products of interest. Then pick and choose which updates to
download and install. DEXIS Software Manager can be configured to run daily so
you are aware of new products the same day they are released.
DEXIS Software Manager runs as an application in the system tray. Double click
the system tray icon to open the main user interface.
Main User Interface
The left column displays two available functions; Installed and Add Feature.
- Installed – lists software that is installed on the system and may have available updates.
- Add Feature – lists new software that is available for download and installation. The middle column displays the name, version and detailed information of the software installers which are available for Installed/Add Features. The right side displays whether the software is Installed or a Modify button is provided.
A Check Now button on the bottom left is for a query of new updates. When a new update is available, the Updates tab highlights with the number of new available installers.
Install
When the software is downloaded, the button name will change to Install.
Click the Install button to initiate the installation.
Download Server
The above scenarios require that the DEXIS Software Manager be installed on
computers where the software is to be installed and that machines have
internet access.
If this is not the desired setup for the office, the office may pick one
machine with internet access to install DEXIS Software Manager, and manually
install the software to other computers.
Events
DEXIS Software Manager captures logs for events that happen on the machine.
These logs are helpful in determining the health of the system and providing
technical support with valuable information. Events can be viewed by selecting
the Settings icon Events.
The user interface allows for filtering of these events by various categories.
Settings
- Automatically check for updates – detect and download updates and then copy the installer from the specified download location and manually install on the client machines. DEXIS Software Manager, by default, is configured to run on a schedule to automatically detect, download, and install updates. Daily checks and installation updates can run at a specific time of their choosing.
- Show all product lines – receive updates regarding all DEXIS product lines or filter to only show updates relevant to the current product line installed.
- Automatically download updates – Downloads may be configured as a daily scheduled task.
Once an installer is downloaded, it can be run by clicking the Install button on the Main screen.
Downloads automatically go to C:\ProgramData\DEXIS Imaging\Software Manager\downloads.
