CLEANING THE BIONIX OTOCLEAR EAR IRRIGATION SYSTEM
It is recommended to clean the Bionix Ear Irrigation System daily following the procedure below.
- Unplug the Portable Electronic Irrigator from its charging cord.
- Prepare a solution of dishwashing liquid and water.
- Ensure the Portable Electronic Irrigator is completely drained of water.
- Remove reservoir from the Portable Electronic Irrigator, and wash the outside and inside of the reservoir with the dishwashing solution.
- Use the dishwashing solution and a cloth to gently wipe clean the Portable Electronic Irrigator housing.
- Disconnect the adapter wand from the Portable Electronic Irrigator, submerge in the dishwashing solution and clean with the cloth.
- After drying and reattaching the reservoir to the Portable Electronic Irrigator, fill it with the dishwashing solution and reattach the adapter wand.
- Aim the adapter wand towards a sink and turn on the system. Run the Portable Electronic Irrigator until it pumps air.
- Remove the reservoir from the Portable Electronic Irrigator and empty any remaining dishwashing solution down the drain.
- Rinse the reservoir repeated with water until no suds are visible and then dry the outside surface.
- Reattach the reservoir to the Portable Electronic Irrigator and refill with water.
- Turn on the Portable Electronic Irrigator and run until the reservoir is empty and pumps air.
- Empty the reservoir of any remaining water and leave the fill cap open to allow the inside to air dry.
- Dry all outer surfaces of the Portable Electronic Irrigator.
- Reattach the charger to the Portable Electronic Irrigator and it is ready for the next use.
HIGH LEVEL DISINFECTION OF THE BIONIX OTOCLEAR EAR IRRIGATION SYSTEM (INCLUDING OTOCLEAR EAR BASIN)
- Use one of the following high level disinfecting (HLD) solutions that are compatible with the Bionix Ear Irrigation System:
- Ortho-Phthalaldehyde Solution (0.55% maximum)
- Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide Solution (2% maximum)
- Glutaraldehyde Solution (3.0% maximum)
- Prepare the HLD solution per the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Ensure all water has been drained from the Portable Electronic Irrigator.
- Fill the reservoir with the HLD solution.
- Aiming towards a drain or collection bottle, turn the Portable Electronic Irrigator on and run the HLD solution through the system until approximately half of the reservoir (~100 ml) has been pumped.
- Refill the reservoir with HLD solution.
- Allow the HLD solution to soak in the Portable Electronic Irrigator per the HLD manufacturer’s instructions for use.
- After the manufacturer’s recommended soak, turn the Portable Electronic Irrigator on and run until the reservoir is empty and it pumps air.
- Empty the reservoir of any remaining HLD solution.
- Carefully wipe off any HLD solution that may have gotten on the outer surfaces of the Portable Electronic Irrigator.
- Fill the reservoir with clean rinse water.
- Turn the Portable Electronic Irrigator on and run until the reservoir is empty of rinse water and it pumps air.
- Repeat steps 11 – 12 until the system has been rinsed three times.
- Empty the reservoir of any remaining water and leave the fill cap open to allow the inside to air dry.
- Dry all outer surfaces of the Portable Electronic Irrigator.
- Reattach the charger to the Portable Electronic Irrigator and it is ready for the next use.
