INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
- Find a clear area in which you can work.
- Unpack fixture and glass from a carton.
- Carefully review instructions prior to assembly.
STEP 1
- Feed wire through the stem (S) or stems and loop (L).
- Secure stems together if needed. Note fixture is supplied with multiple stems, not all stems are to be used. The fixture can be mounted as a fiush
- Secure the bottom stem (S) to the coupler (Z) at the top of the fixture.
- Secure top stem to loop (L)
- Glass assembly can now be started
GLASS INSTALLATION
Note: It is recommended that the glass be installed after the fixture is hung.
- To install the glass it will be necessary to remove the decorative threaded screw (1), located in the back glass bracket (2) – See Drawing 2.
- Next, take a glass (3) and slip the top of the glass, with a hole, into the glass bracket (2) and align the glass hole with the threaded hole in the back of the glass bracket.
NOTE: THE FIXTURE HAS TWO SIZES OF GLASS. THE LARGE GLASS LENS GOES ON
THE BRACKET IN LINE WITH THE SOCKET. BOTH SIZES OF GLASS ARE INSTALLED IN THE
SAME MANNER.
NOTE: It is recommended that you install the lens of glass opposite from
the first one installed in order to keep the fixture balanced during this
process. Repeat the process until all glass is installed
Mounting Instructions
start here
-
Find a clear area in which you can work.
-
Unpack the fixture and glass from the carton.
-
Carefully review instructions prior to assembly.
-
Shut off the electrical current before starting. If the fixture you are replacing is turned on and off by a wall switch, simply turn the switch off. If not, remove the appropriate fuse (or open the circuIt breakers) until the fixture is dead.
- DO NOT RESTORE CURRENT – EITHER BY FUSE, BREAKER, OR SWITCH – UNTIL THE NEW FIXTURE IS COMPLETELY WIRED AND IN PLACE.
-
Supply wires shall enter the outlet box (A) through any knockout EXCEPT for the top center knockout – see Drawing 1.
-
The fixture is to be mounted by a 1/4IP threaded pipe, (not supplied). The pipe should be anchored to the structure or bridging member with sufficient strength to support 4 times the fixture’s weight – see Drawing 2.
-
Adjust pipe so 1” of the 1/4-18 NPS threaded pipe extends into the junction box, at the center knockout.
-
Thread pipe coupler (B) onto the installed pipe, in the ceiling, protruding through junction box (A). Secure in place by tightening screws (C) – see Drawing 1.
-
Thread hex nut (J) onto the threaded pipe (E). Thread loop (K) onto the end of the threaded tube (E). Secure loop in place by tightening hex nut (J) against loop (K) to secure the loop to the pipe.
-
Thread hex nut (D) onto the threaded pipe (E). Thread pipe (E) into coupler (B). Adjust loop height so that half of the exterior threads on loop
(K) are exposed, when the canopy (L) is slipped over the loop and held up to the ceiling. After adjustment is done tighten hex nut (D) against coupler (B) to secure pipe (E) in position. -
Next take assembled fixture (without the glass) and use the Quick link hook fixture onto loop (K).
-
Feed wires and cables through the center hole of the canopy loop and make all necessary wiring connections following instruction sheet (IS 18) provided. Make sure to attach a safety cable to the joist or structure independent of the junction box. Follow the instruction sheet (IS-SCC) provided.
-
After all wiring and cable installation is complete. Slip canopy (L) up to ceiling along with screw collar ring (M). Hold canopy in place on ceiling and thread on screw collar ring to secure the canopy into place.
-
Glass can now be mounted onto the fixture. Follow the instructions on the “FIXTURE ASSEMBLY” instruction
WIRING AND GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
Safety Warning: Read wiring and grounding instructions [FRIS 18] and any
additional directions. Turn power supply off during installation. If new
wiring isrequired, consult a qualified electrician or local authorities for
code requirements.
STEP 1 WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
Indoor Fixtures
- Connect positive supply wire (A) (typically black or the smooth, unmarked side of the two-conductor cord) to positive fixture lead (B) with appropriately sized twist on the connector – See Drawing 1 or 2.
- Connect negative supply wire (C) (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to negative fixture lead (D)
- Please refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections.
Outdoor Fixtures
- Connect positive supply wire (A) (typically black or the smooth, unmarked side of the two-conductor cord) to positive fixture lead (B) with appropriately sized twist on the connector – See Drawing 1 or 2.
- Connect negative supply wire (C) (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to negative fixture lead (D)
- Cover open end of connectors with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal.
- If installing a wall mount fixture, use caulk to seal gaps between the fixture mounting plate (backplate) and the wall. This will help prevent water from entering the outlet box. If the wall surface is lap siding, use caulk and a fixture mounting platform specially.
- Please refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections.
STEP 2 GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
Flush Mount Fixtures
For positive grounding in a 3-wire electrical system, fasten the fixture
ground wire (E) (typically copper or green plastic coated) to the fixture
mounting strap (1) with the ground screw (2) – See Drawing1.
Note: On straps for screw supported fixtures, first install the two
mounting screws in strap. Any remaining tapped hole may be used for the ground
screw.
Chain Hung Fixtures
Loop fixture ground wire (E) (typically copper or green plastic coated) under
the head of the ground screw (2) on fixture mounting strap (1) and connect to
the loose end of the fixture ground wire directly to the ground wire of the
building system with appropriately sized twist-on connectors See Drawing 2.
Post-Mount Fixtures
Connect fixture ground wire (E) (typically copper or green plastic coated) to
power supply ground with appropriately sized twist-on connector inside post.
Cover open end of connector with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal-
See Drawing 3.
