INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Before Using your Appliance
- Remove the exterior and interior packing and leave doors open for a while to air out the unit.
- Before connecting the appliance to the power source, let it stand upright for approximately 2 hours. This will reduce the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system from handling during transportation.
- Clean the interior surface with lukewarm water using a soft cloth.
Installation of your Appliance
NOTE: Do not store or install the appliance outdoors.
- The appliance is designed for free-standing installation only.
CAUTION: This appliance is designed for the storage and display of beverages, sealed food, and other non-critical items. Do not store vaccines or medication with temperature-specific requirements.
Place your Cold Zone® refrigerator on a floor that is strong enough to support
it when it is fully loaded. To level the unit, adjust the legs at the front of
cabinet. Leave at least 4 inches (100mm) of space at the back of the unit to
allow proper air circulation to cool the compressor and condenser.
Take care that the condenser at the rear of the appliance is never covered or
blocked in any way.
NOTE: It is recommended that you do not install the appliance near an oven, radiator or other heating source. Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical consumption. Don’t install in a location where the temperature will fall below 60°F (16°C). For best performance, do not install the appliance behind a cabinet door or block the rear grille.
- Avoid locating the unit in moist areas.
- Plug the Cold Zone® refrigerator into an exclusive, properly grounded wall outlet. Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. Any questions concerning power and/or grounding should be directed toward a certified electrician or an authorized service center.
Electrical Connection
WARNING: Improper use of the grounded plug can result in the risk of electrical shock. If the power cord is damaged, have it replaced by a qualified electrician or an authorized service center.
This appliance should be properly grounded for your safety. The power cord of this appliance is equipped with a three-prong plug which mates with standard three-prong wall outlets to minimize the possibility of electrical shock.
Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord supplied. For personal safety, this appliance must be properly grounded.
This appliance requires a standard 115/120 Volt AC ~ 60Hz three-prong grounded electrical outlet.
Have the wall outlet and circuit checked by a qualified electrician to make sure the outlet is properly grounded. When a standard 2-prong wall outlet is encountered, it is your responsibility and obligation to have it replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet.
To prevent accidental injury, the cord should be secured behind the appliance and not left exposed or dangling.
The appliance should always be plugged into its own individual electrical outlet which has a voltage rating that matches the rating label on the appliance. This provides the best performance and also prevents overloading house wiring circuits that could cause a fire hazard from overheating. Never unplug the appliance by pulling on the power cord. Always grip the plug firmly and pull straight out from the receptacle. Repair or replace immediately all power cords that have become frayed or otherwise damaged. Do not use a cord that shows cracks or abrasion damage along its length or at either end. When moving the appliance, be careful not to damage the power cord.
Extension Cord
Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, it is strongly
recommended that you do not use an extension cord with this appliance.
However, if you must use an extension cord it is absolutely necessary that it
be a UL/CUL-Listed, 3-wire grounding type appliance extension cord having a
grounding type plug and outlet and that the electrical rating of the cord be
115 volts and at least 10 amperes.
OPERATING YOUR APPLIANCE
It is recommended you install the appliance in a place where the ambient temperature is between 65ºF and 90ºF (18Cº to 32ºC). If the ambient temperature is above or below the recommended temperatures, the performance of the unit may be affected. For example, placing your unit in extremely cold or hot conditions may cause interior temperatures to fluctuate.
When the unit is first turned on, allow it to operate for about an hour to cool the interior before placing items inside.

Placing Items in the Appliance
The Cold Zone® refrigerator employs a system of forced circulation of cold
air. If this circulation isobstructed, items will not be adequately
refrigerated. Take note of the following points:
- Do not let items obstruct the cold air inlet and suction outlet.
- Place items so that they do not protrude beyond the shelves. The gap between the shelves and the doors is intentional, and is designed to allow free circulation of cold air.
- Arrange items evenly on all shelves.
- Do not display items on the floor of the interior cabinet. Items must be placed on the shelves
Shelves
Some units may be equipped with adjustable or removable shelves.
Removable Shelves
- There are four removable shelves inside the unit
- To prevent damaging the door gaskets, make sure to have the door(s) all the way open when pulling the shelves out of the rail compartments.
- Before removing a shelf from the inner rails, make sure to remove all shelf contents first.
Adjustable Shelves
- If your unit has adjustable shelves, first remove all shelf contents.
- Remove the shelves from the unit, making sure to open the doors fully to prevent damaging the door gaskets.
- Adjust the brackets hanging on the pilasters to your desired height, then replace the shelves onto the brackets.
Defrosting
Defrosting is performed automatically and drain water is collected in the drain tray at the back of the unit. Water in the drain tray is normally evaporated automatically. Under humid conditions, a large amount of water may accumulate in the drain tray, which may have to be emptied manually.
Changing the Light Canopy Logo
The light canopy, which runs along the top of the unit, can be replaced with a
customized plastic
sign, if desired. To change the light canopy display, follow these steps:
-
Locate the two screws on the top of either end of the canopy, and remove them using a Phillips head screwdriver or drill bit.
-
Pull the top of the canopy up and off of the unit.
-
Slide the blank white plastic display up and out. It can now be replaced with your customized display.
NOTE: Your customized display must be 35.67” W x 2.67” H (906mm W x 68mm H). -
Once your display is in place, replace the canopy top, being careful the new display sits inside the notch which runs along of the box top. This will ensure the display is secure and aligned properly in your unit.
-
Replace the two screws on either end of the canopy, to secure the top in place.
Energy-Saving Tips
- Be sure the unit is installed in a well-ventilated area. Never cover air vents.
- The appliance should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat-producing appliances and out of direct sunlight.
- To minimize the escape of cold air, open and close the doors quickly, and do not keep the doors open any longer than necessary.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
CAUTION: To prevent any electrical shock or injury by the rotating circulation fan, always disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet before cleaning. DO NOT splash water directly onto the unit and do not soak the unit with water. Short-circulating and electrical shock could result.
Cleaning your Appliance
- Turn off the power, unplug the appliance, and remove all items, including shelves.
- Wash the inside surfaces with a solution of warm water and baking soda (about 2 tablespoons of baking soda to a quart of water).
- Wash the shelves with a mild detergent solution.
- Wring excess water out of the sponge or cloth when cleaning the area where the controls or any other electrical parts are located.
- Wash the outside cabinet with warm water and mild liquid detergent. Rinse well and wipe dry with a clean soft cloth.
- Never use scouring powder, soap powder, benzene, oil or hot water as these will damage the paint and plastic components.
- Do not use steel wool or a steel brush on the stainless steel.
Power Failure
Most power failures are corrected within a few hours and should not affect the
temperature of your appliance if you minimize the number of times the door is
opened. If the power is going to be off for a longer period of time, you need
to take the proper steps to protect the contents.
Vacations
- Short vacations: Leave the appliance operating during vacations of less than three weeks.
- Long vacations: If the appliance will not be used for several months, remove all items and turn off the appliance. Clean and dry the interior thoroughly. To prevent odor and mold growth, leave the doors open slightly, blocking them open if necessary.
Moving your Appliance
- Disconnect the plug and remove all loose items from inside the unit.
- Securely tape down shelves inside the appliance.
- Turn the adjustable legs up to the base to avoid damage.
- Tape the doors shut.
- Be sure the appliance stays secure in the upright position during transportation. Also, protect the outside of the appliance with a blanket or similar item.
Temporary Storage
Use piece of wood or the equivalent to keep the doors ajar. Do NOT to store the unused cooler in a location where children play. Should a child enter the compartment and the doors are closed, the child may not be able to open the doors from the inside.
