1. Product description

The detector detects human movement and human presence using a passive infrared sensor (PIR). It reacts most sensitively to movements which are tangential to the monitored area (1a). Movements that are made directly towards the detector are detected with a reduced sensitivity of approx. -50% (1b). The detector does not switch until the brightness drops below the set value (twilight threshold). The switching duration is extended as long as human movement (entire area 1d) or human presence (presence area 1e) are detected. The detector detects an increase in daylight after switching on and, if there is sufficient daylight, it switches off automatically. Products that are indicated as accessories are not included in the scope of delivery.

2. Application

The detector is suitable for indoor use for controlling luminaires. Adhere to the following during installation:
– Only suitable for wall-mounted installation
– Hide moving objects in the monitored area by covering up the lens.
– Do not place any luminaires underneath or next to the detector at a distance of less than 1 m away (2a).
– Do not install in a direct cooling (2b) or heating air current (2c) .

3. Safety notes

Ensure that the electrical lines are de-energised before installation. Installation is only permitted by electricians in compliance with local legislation.

4. Installation (4)

The detector is designed for wall-mounted installation at a height of 1 to 3 m. The diameter Ø of the monitored area depends on the installation height (1c). For installation:

 – Remove the lens
– Wire the detector as per Point 5
– Fasten the detector in the flush mounting box.
– Configure as per Point 7
– Fasten the lens.

5. Wiring (7)

The electrical circuit must be safeguarded with a circuit breaker. The external push-button switches the current conduction line to the R terminal. Use pulse buttons without a glow lamp and keep cables short.

6. Connection of loads

High inrush currents shorten the service life of the relay which is integrated in the detector. Adhere to the technical specifications provided by the manufacturer of the luminaires and lighting equipment so that the relay is not overloaded (3ab). To keep the circuit clearly arranged, we recommend that you connect a maximum of 5 detectors in parallel. In the case of switching cycles of above average frequency, or in the event of increased loads, we recommend that the load be connected using an external relay / an external circuit breaker. If ballasts are used, then we recommend limiting the number of ballasts to 20 per output.

7. Configuration

The detector is ready for operation approximately 1 minute after connection to the electricity mains. Parameter changes must be made during operation: The parameters are set directly on the controllers on the detector or using the remote control (accessories). For this purpose, the programming mode must be active on the detector.
TIME: TIME is used to set the shut-off delay after the last movement (5b). If the relay output is wired to an automatic lighting device, the TIME controller has to be set to pulse ( ). Twilight threshold: LUX is used to set the reaction threshold of the twilight sensor sleeplessly between day mode and night mode (5a). Detection range: SENS is used to set the detection range (5c). Only adjustable for P-IR hand-held transmitters. If the detector is too sensitive, then the sensitivity of the presence detector can be adjusted using these setting.

8. Display

The following statuses are indicated by the LED. Parameter changes can be made using the controllers on the detector or using the remote control (accessories). When a parameter is confirmed, the detector briefly switches off the relay output.

9. Troubleshooting

The switching output does not switch: The switching output switches too frequently:
– Twilight value too low
– Check luminaire/overcurrent protection
– Reduce the detection range/check detection area for sources of error
– Cover the lens/check distance to luminaires
– Twilight threshold too low

Warnings regarding installation

The installation of products that will permanently be part of the electrical installation and which include dangerous voltages, should be carried out by a qualified installer and in accordance with the applicable regulations. This user manual must be presented to the user. It should be included in the electrical installation file and it should be passed on to any new owners. Additional copies are available on the Niko website or via Niko customer services.

CE marking

This product complies with all of the relevant European guidelines and regulations. For radio equipment Niko llc declares that the radio equipment in this manual conforms with the 2014/53/EU directive. The full text of the EU declaration of conformity is available at www.niko.eu under the product reference, if applicable.

Environment

This product and/or the batteries provided cannot be deposited in non- recyclable waste. take your discarded product to a recognised collection point. Just like producers and importers, you too play an important role in the promotion of sorting, recycling and reuse of discarded electrical and electronic equipment. To finance the rubbish collection and waste treatment, the government levies recycling charges in certain cases (included in the price of this product).
