OPERATING INSTRUCTION

Preparing the electrode
Carefully remove the watering cap. Flush the electrode with water. pH: Check the inside of the pH glass membrane for unwanted air bubbles. Shaking the electrode gently will cause any bubbles to rise to the top. Storing the Electrode Electrodes should be stored with the watering cap on, containing 3M KCI solution or Storage Solution. Electrodes stored dry will exhibit unstable values for a short period. If the electrode inadvertently dries out, it can be regenerated by placing it overnight in Storage Solution.

Cleaning
In general, you can use acids, alkaline solutions, and commonly used solvents for brief periods to clean electrodes with a glass shaft. Flush with water after cleaning. After cleaning, electrodes are likely to exhibit sluggish response times for a certain period, so place it in a storage solution for 15 minutes after cleaning.

Regeneration

pH : Immerse electrode for 10 minutes in 0.1 1.0 M NaOH, then 10 minutes in 0.1 1.0 M HCI. After regeneration, place it in a storage solution for 15 minutes.

Redox : clean metal surfaces with a mildly abrasive medium, e.g. toothpaste or very fine scouring powder.

General

The life span of electrodes depends on the customer’s requirements of response time, zero point, and slope. Measurement conditions especially high temperatures and aggressive samples may shorten life span. In favorable conditions, life expectancy can be 1 3 years at ambient temperature. Some aging also ocCurs during storage. Polymer-type electrodes have limited chemical resistance. Extended contact with concentrated acids, alkaline solutions, and alcohols should be avoided. Ethers, esters, ketones, and aromatic and halogenated hydrocarbons attack the shat material and should not be allowed to contact the electrode.

Plastics body allows pH and RX electrodes to be constructed with sturdy and chemically resistant epoxy or premium ULTEM bodies. A recessed-protected design of the Sensorex plastic body electrodes extends over the extended tip or band-measuring surface so that the surface cannot be damaged. Etatron utilizes a 99.993% pure platinum rod to ensure there are no impurities in the platinum that could cause adverse reactions or interferences in ORP measurements.
