Instructions for use
Title:
Scarban® Velvet Touch silicone gel.
Product description:
Scarban® Velvet Touch is a silicone gel for treating scars (hypertrophic and
keloid) and for preventing abnormal scar development after surgery or an
accident.
Composition:
Dimethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane.
Properties:
- Scarban® Velvet Touch silicone gel makes scars flatter, smoother and thinner and reduces complaints (persistent redness, pulling of the scar, itching, restriction of joint movement, discomfort and cosmetic concerns).
- Scarban® Velvet Touch silicone gel is a transparent gel which, thanks to its unique formulation, dries quickly and does not feel sticky.
- The gel provides a semi-occlusive layer on top of the skin, creating increased hydration of the skin (epidermis). The increased hydration ensures that the damaged scar skin recovers faster and reduces complaints.
Indications/areas of application:
Scarban® Velvet Touch silicone gel is suitable for:
- the treatment and prevention of abnormal scars (hypertrophic and keloid).
- the treatment of burn scars.
- the treatment of surgical scars.
- the treatment of persistent functional complaints caused by the scar (persistent redness, pulling of the scar, itching, restriction of joint movement, discomfort and cosmetic objections).
Instructions for use:
- For optimum results preferably start Scarban® Velvet Touch silicone gel treatment immediately after wound closure (after removing sutures and the disappearance of any scabs).
- A small amount of silicone gel per treatment is sufficient. For optimal therapy, apply a small amount of silicone gel to the scar twice a day with a smooth motion.
- Reapply Scarban® Velvet Touch silicone gel after intensive activity (sports) and contact with water (showering, swimming).
- If desired, Scarban® Velvet Touch silicone gel can be combined with make-up after drying.
How long should I use Scarban® Velvet Touch silicone gel?
- It takes at least 3-6 months for a scar to normalize.
- Use Scarban® Velvet Touch silicone gel as long as the scar is elevated, red or causes complaints.
- Consult with the practitioner/doctor about the duration of the therapy.
Duration of use:
- One vial of Scarban® Velvet Touch silicone gel contains 15 ml.
- When used correctly, one vial contains enough for treatment lasting several weeks.
- The duration of use depends on the size of the scar to be treated.
- Multiple packs may therefore be necessary in the case of long-term therapy.
Special attention and precautions:
- Keep out of the reach of children.
- Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
- The silicone gel is only suitable for external use.
- Use the silicone gel only on closed skin (after the scab has disappeared) and never on open wounds.
- Do not use if the product is received with damaged packaging.
Side effects:
-
In rare cases, the skin may react sensitively (skin irritation) to a silicone treatment.
If this is the case, stop the treatment temporarily. -
If necessary, Scarban® Velvet Touch can be removed using a mild, skin-friendly soap.
-
Start the treatment again once the irritation has disappeared.
-
If skin problems persist consult your practitioner/doctor.
Storage:
- The expiry date is printed on the packaging.
Date of the last revision of instructions for use:
April 2020.
