Introduction to Version Upgrade
When new features are added or the original performance needs to be optimized and the current running version is out of date, the device needs to be upgraded. In this case, you need to load a high version of the system software, upgrade through the CLI interface, WEB interface, and restart the device.

Connection Equipment
Connect the PC and the switch to the network cable and the console port. Connect one end of the RJ-45 network cable to the network card interface of the PC and the other end to the network port of the SW. Connect one end of the console c able USB to the USB port of the PC. One end of the RJ-45 is connected to the console port on the front panel of the switch. -
Download Configuration Software
After the connection is completed, there we recommend the super terminal, putty or Secure CRT tool to configure the switch. -
Switch on and Use Login Software
Energizing the switch, then open the installed login software, select the serial port of login mode, port through the device manager to determine. Baud rate :115200, Data bits: 8, Parity: None, Stop bits: 1. (Reference below).
NOTE: COM Number can be viewed through device manager. (right click on my computer.>manage>device manager>port (COM and LPT) If it displays an unrecognized USB device, please download and install the corresponding driver. -
Login Switch
After completing the above steps, hitting the Enter key of the keyboard will prompt you to enter the account password. At this time, enter the default username and password admin/admin to log in to the switch. -
Upgrade Software
After logging in to the switch, open the installed TFTP upload software, specify the server root directory in its options, and put the files to be uploaded into this directory.

Upgrade Image
NOTE: Please pay attention to the red part below. To upgrade each device in the stacking, you need to specify the unit id of the device in the stackingse the following commands in sequence to upgrade the stack members. FS#copy tftp file
Copy to which unit: <1-6>: 1 //The unit id of the specified device to be upgraded TFTP server IP address: 192.168.1.22
Choose file type:
1. config; 2. image: 2
Source file name: S3900-24T4S-MR-V0171.bin
Destination file name: S3900-24T4S-MR-V0171.bin
Flash programming started.
Flash programming completed.
Success. -
Application System File
FS(config)#boot system image:S3900-24T4S-MR-V0171.bin -
Reboot the device
FS#restart
System will be restarted. Continue <y/n>? y

Enable web services
FS#configure terminal
FS(config)#server https enable -
Login WEB
Enter the IP address of the management interface in the URL field of the browser: 192.168.1.1, and then enter the default username and password: admin/admin.After successful login, the “Monitor” page will appear , as shown in figure 3. -
File Copy Page
After entering the WEB interface of the switch, click “System Management > File Management”, and then click “Copy” button to enter the page of file copy. -
Upload File
Follow the steps below to upload the upgrade file:- Click the drop-down box to select “Copy Type” as “HTTP Upload”.
- Click on the drop-down box to select “File Type” as “Image”.
- Click on the drop-down box to select “File Type” as “Image”.
- Click on “Choose File” to select the upgrade file.
- Click the drop-down box to select the “Destination File Name” as “S3900-24T4S-MR-0424.bin”.
Warning: When configuring and operating system files, power off is strictly prohibited. Otherwise, the equipment may be abnormal and unable to start.

Application System File
Clicking on the “Boot” button will bring up the boot file selection window.
Select the file you just uploaded and click the “Apply” button to apply the system file. -
Reboot the device
Click on “System Reboot” to enter the System Reboot page, click on the drop- down box to select “Reset Mode” as “Immediately”, click on the “Apply” button, and the device will reboot. -
Login New WEB
After upgrading the Image, repeat step (1) and you can log back into the Web interface.
Enter the default username and password: admin/admin and the “Monitor ” page will appear, as you can see in Figure 12. Image’s version is the latest update.
NOTE:
- After the version upgrade, the browser cache needs to be cleared, otherwise the previous cache will affect the current use of the Web.
- After the device version is upgraded, users are advised not to rollback the version. If you want to roll back the version, you must first specify the configuration file that the device will start next time as the factory configuration file, then delete all the remaining configuration files, and then restart the device.
