Warning

  • SoundTube speakers must be installed by a professional audio installer/contractor. For safety and for optimum audio performance, the installer must follow all directions issued by SoundTube Entertainment.
  • Do not specify or install a speaker near the support beam, ventilation duct, or other structure that may interfere with speaker function or dispersion.

Installation Instructions

  1. Remove the speaker body from the box and unravel the signal wire.
  2. Unpack Designer Sleeve.
  3. Select the tap setting on the back face of the speaker body. Each numeral setting corresponds to a wattage shown in the tap setting table on the back of the speaker (also shown on Page 1). Use 8Ω for transformer bypass.
  4. If necessary, attach the safety cable by first inserting it into the side of the mounting bracket.SOUNDTUBE-DS31-EZ-Black-Complete-Speaker-FIG- \(3\)
  5. Align safety cable with bracket slot and pull up to secure.
  6. Unpack the grille and attach the grille safety restraint by placing the large end of the clip over the mounting bracket screw on the top face of the speaker body (the face opposite the front of the speaker).
  7. You will need to slightly loosen/unscrew one of the hanging bracket screws in order to fit the safety clip underneath. Slide the safety clip until the small end snaps into place around the screw.
  8. Thread signal wire through the Designer Sleeve central hole, then gently slide the sleeve down OVER the safety clip wire and speaker body. Then use two included 2.25” Phillips-head screws to secure the sleeve to the speaker body (Tapered Sleeve shown).SOUNDTUBE-DS31-EZ-Black-Complete-Speaker-FIG- \(4\)
  9. If using both Cylindrical Sleeve pieces, use two included 0.50” Phillips-head screws to secure the two sleeve pieces to one another.
  10. Thread signal wire through included Strain Relief Bushing.
  11. Screw bushing into Designer Sleeve, pulling excess wire through until snug.
  12. Tighten down the top gland to secure the signal wire. The gland must be tightened around the signal cable to prevent water ingress and maintain the IP rating.SOUNDTUBE-DS31-EZ-Black-Complete-Speaker-FIG- \(5\)
  13. Unpack Mounting Assembly and separate the hemispherical cover plate from the mounting plate. Thread signal wire through the hemispherical cover plate and central hole in the mounting plate.
  14. Where needed, connect the safety leash to a secure point on the structure/ junction box.
  15. Loop wire down through one of the smaller holes on the mounting plate, then back up through the adjacent hole. Run a signal wire from the amplifier to the speaker and connect it to the speaker’s signal wire using included wire nuts. Red is positive, black is negative.
  16. Screw the mounting plate into the junction box (not included) using the mounting screws provided.SOUNDTUBE-DS31-EZ-Black-Complete-Speaker-FIG- \(6\)
  17. Move the cover plate up the speaker wire, and begin to thread the cover plate into the mounting plate, leaving half an inch between the cover plate and the mounting surface.
  18. Excess wire can be hidden inside of the cover plate by wrapping excess wire clockwise and into the gap between the plate and the surface.
  19. Completely thread the cover plate to secure the speaker.
  20. Magnetically attach the grille to the front of the speaker. Done.SOUNDTUBE-DS31-EZ-Black-Complete-Speaker-FIG- \(7\)
