Operating Instructions

Information About the Operating Instructions
Before using the product for the first time, please read through these
operating instructions carefully and keep them for future reference and other
users. They form an integral part of the product. The manufacturer and
importer do not accept any liability if the information in these operating in-
structions is not complied with.

INTENDED USE
- The product is designed for use as a rechargeable torch. The battery charges up in daylight via the solar panel. The battery can also be charged in darkness by turning the crank handle.
- The product is designed for personal use only and is not intended for commercial applications.
- The product should only be used as described in the oper-ating instructions. Any other use is deemed to be improper.
SAFETY NOTICES
WARNING: Danger of Injury!
- Keep the packaging material and the assembly materi-als away from children and animals. There is a danger of suffocation.
- The product is not a toy. Do not leave young children and an-imals unsupervised with the product in order to avoid injuries!Never look directly into the light beam! Never aim the light beam directly at other people or animals. There is a danger of dazzling!
- If the battery has leaked, do not allow your skin, eyes and mucous membranes to come into contact with the battery acid. There is a danger of burns from battery acid!
- If you touch battery acid, rinse the affected areas with abundant clear water straight away and seek medical assis-tance immediately.
- Do not use the product if it has malfunctioned or been dropped in water. Have it checked in a specialist workshop before using it again.
NOTICE – Risk of Damage to Material and Property
- Protect the product from flames and other heat sources, frost, persistent moisture, wet conditions, impacts as well as dust and dirt.
- Do not use the product if it is damaged.
- Do not make any modifications to the product. Do not try to repair it yourself or to replace any individual parts. In the event of any damage, contact the customer service department.
- Use only original parts from the manufacturer in order to guarantee that there is no interference that may prevent the product from working and to avoid possible damage.
- Never use any caustic or abrasive cleaning agents. These may damage the surface.

Check the items supplied for completeness and the product for transport damage. If you find any damage, do not use the product but contact our customer service department. Remove any possible films, stickers or transport protection from the product. Never remove the rating plate and any possible warnings!

PUTTING INTO OPERATION
Charging Up the Battery – In Daylight
- Place the torch in a location where the solar panel (5) can absorb as much direct sunlight as possible.
Charging Up the Battery – In Darkness
- Fold down the crank handle (2) and turn it to charge up the dynamo.
- The dynamo in the torch charges the battery through movement.
INFO: Turning the crank handle for 1 minute produces approx. 15 minutes of light. A full battery charge produces approx. 120 minutes of light.
Switching On / Off
- Slide the On / Off switch (4) towards the lights (3) to switch on the torch.
- When it is not in use, slide the On / Off switch towards the handle (1).
CLEANING & STORAGE
- Keep the solar panel clean so that the greatest possible absorption of light is ensured. Wipe down the solar panel (and if necessary also the remaining components of the product) with a damp cloth.
- The handle (1) can be pressed in so that the product can be hung up by the handle.
- When it is not in use, you should store the product in a dry, clean location which is out of the reach of children and animals.

DISPOSAL
Dispose of the packaging material in an environmental-ly friendly manner so
that it can be recycled.
The adjacent symbol (crossed-out bin underlined) means that used devices
should not be disposed of in the domestic waste, but should instead be taken
to special collection and return systems.
Owners of used devices from private households can take them free of charge to the collection points of the public waste disposal authorities or the disposal points which are set up by manufacturers and distrib-utors under the Electrical Equipment Act. Businesses which market electrical and electronic devices are also obliged to take back used devices.
Non-rechargeable and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of along with
the household waste. Consumers are legally obliged to separate and recycle
non-rechargeable and rechargeable batteries.
Non-rechargeable and rechargeable batteries can be taken free of charge to a
collection point of your local authority/district or in shops so that they can
be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way and valuable raw materials
can be recovered. If they are not disposed of properly, toxic ingredients may
enter the environment and have harmful effects on people, animals and plants.
Only dispose of non-rechargeable and rechargeable batteries when they are
discharged.
With non-rechargeable and rechargeable batteries that contain lithium, cover
the poles before disposing of them to prevent a short circuit. A short circuit
may cause a fire or explosion.
