Before you mount the bridge on your instrument, please read this document carefully so that you familiarize yourself with the procedure.
We hope you enjoy reading it!

Features

A perfect roller bridge offers the following proper

  1. The bridge offers a high tuning stability.

  2. String breakage is significantly reduced.

  3. The bridge can be mounted universally.

  4. It offers good sound transmission and shows a stable construct

  5. The bridge has got a wide intonation adjustment range.

  6. The strings course from the bridge to the tailpiece or the tremolo unit is fric

  7. The bridge requires little maintenance.

  8. High tuning stability
The ABM 2400-RO includes precise rollers which are mounted with small manufacturing tolerance. For the best sound transmission, the V-profile of the rollers only has as much string contact as necessary. Bass and discant strings have got a different roller design This further minimizes the friction the string and roller.
The strings reliably return to the starer tremolo operating pulling. Therefore, we recommend a string set with a maximum gauge of 10-46.
The ABM 2400-RO has laterally aached locking screws with which the bridge is fixed to the mounting bolt after the intonation adjustment. Thus, bridge is adapted to the bolt spacing and movements of the bridge body are reduced.
The product package also includes one pair of M5 knurled wheels to counter the mounting. and impact sleeves. The bridge then forms a “rock-solid” connection with the instrument. In addition to the standard assembly, you will find valuable information on page 6.
The 2400-RO achieves a very high level of tuning stability.

  9. Reduced string breaking
In addition, the roller function the V-profile of the rollers reduces string breakage. The string does not rest in the center of the groove but on the two flanks. The strings are prevented from getting in the groove.

  10. Universal mounting
The ABM 2400-RO uses the standard radius of 12″. The bridge body is factory compatible with a instruments with a bolt spacing between 71.7 & 75mm and mounting bolts with a maximum head diameter of 4mm.
The bolt spacing, the bolt play and even the lateral bridge position can be adjusted using the side-mounted lock screws within the slotted holes. The product package includes additional locking screws in 2 different lengths so that the bolt distances mentioned above can be realized.
The locking screws allow mounting on instruments with UNC 6-32 (ABR-1) or M4 threaded pins. In addition, we offer, the ABM 2548-L adapter to adapt the bridge for Asian guitars which provide the “4mm to M8” mounting standard.

  11. Well sound transmission & stable construction
The individual components of the ABM 2400-RO are precisely milled from solid Bell Brass. This includes unbeatable advantages compared to die-cast products:
Every ABM roller bridge is the same in size, function tone! The homogeneous structure of the material compensates for the usual disadvantages compared to a bridge with fixed saddles. The harmonic overtone behavior and sustain even increase. An ABM 2400-RO is extremely stable compared to a die-cast product. Therefore, it is a sustainable investment.

  12. Wide adjustment range for intona
The string rest of a roller saddle is in the middle of the saddle depth. In contrast to this, a fixed saddle shows the string rests on it´s edge so that the adjustment range can be increased by turning the saddle. This is not possible with a roller bridge. So we chose the deeper “Nashville” construction ensure perfect intonatrument.

  13. Frictring course to the tailpiece or tremolo The ABM 2400-RO is always mounted with the screw heads in the direcup, so that the string cut-outs of the bridge point to the tailpiece or the tremolo! This avoids addits of fricantly improves the tuning stability.

  14. Low-maintenance operation
Aer playing guitar, please wipe the bridge with a dry, lintfree cloth. The fine gaps between the roller and saddle can be cleaned with a brush and by blowing out with a compressed air spray.
Caution: Please never use lubricants or grease for the rollers, as the fine gaps between the roller and the saddle can become clogged.
All in one, the ABM 2400-RO combines a perfected roller function with sound transmission, stability and a mirror-like finish.

Please read the valuable tips on the following pages before assembly, so that you can enjoy the bridge for a long time and incorrect operation is ruled out.

Assembly Tips

1.) Assembly with standard accessories
(Standard,, Nashville mounting” 4mm on M5)
After the instrument’s original bridge is removed, please exchange the original bolts for the supplied ones ABM types. The sleeves should only be removed by qualified personnel. In case of doubt, please leave the original sleeve in the body of the instrument.
Before you put the bridge on the bolts, please untighten the locking screws of the bridge (page 6) so far, so that they do not touch the bolts.
The bridge is always to be mounted with the string recess in the tremolo/tailpiece direction. Why?

  1. The cutouts are to allow the strings between Bridge and tremolo/tailpiece to vibrate freely and no additional friction is caused.

  2. The bridge has for the bass and treble range different roller profiles. A reverse installation may cause a malfunction.
The two supplied M5 knurled wheels are used for countering the bolt with the sleeve, to further stabilize the bridge.

  3. Please screw the M5 counter-knurled wheels as far as it goes towards the bottom of the post wheel knurl. First, mount the bolt together with the counter knurled before mounting it on the sleeve. So you have enough range to adjust bridge available.

  4. With the bridge res ng on the mounting posts, please check first the lateral alignment (perfect string course towards the neck). The bridge can be laterally shifted using the two locking set screws and slotted holes mounted on the side. Longer grub screws are included for narrower bolt spacing.
As a rule, the strings are tensioned with a low tension, because then you can easily align the bridge and the neck with the string course.

  5. When the perfect position is found, please tighten the lock set screws on both sides in the direction of the bolts. But please do not fix the bridge to the posts yet.

  6. Now, the string ac on, and the intonation have to be adjusted.
To do this, it makes sense to loosen the string tension or to take the strings off the saddles when adjusting, since the string pressure on the saddle can make it difficult to turn the intonation screw and the wheel or the bolt!
Tip: To prevent slipping off with the screwdriver while intonation settings, we recommended to slide a piece of rubber tubing onto the blade. This gives you reliable guidance of the tool.

  7. Finally please tighten the two locking screws of the bridge and counter the bridge bolts and impact sleeves with the two M5 knurled counter wheels.

When adjusting the string ac on of the bridge later, always first loosen the lock set screws on the bridge and the M5 counter knurls also!

2.) Other mounting types:
Moun ng with M4 or UNC 6-32 set screws:
The assembly takes place as men oned under 1., however without the additional M5 knurls.
You are welcome to use the following ABM accessories for assembly:
ABM 2544 M4 (M4, see diagram on page 5)
ABM 2544 (UNC 6-32, see scheme on page 5)

Tip: M4 or UNC 6-32 knurled wheels are also available, with which one the counter the thin threaded pin directly on the body and can therefore be stabilized.
Attention: Before tightening, please exclude to damage to the laquer of the instrument (e.g. using washers).
These would be the items and quantity:
ABM RR16M4 x2 (for M4 threaded posts)
ABM RR16UNC6-32 x2 (for UNC 6-32 posts)

Moun ng with M8 bolts:
Many Asian instruments come with a 6mm to M8 bolt/sleeve combination fitted. In this case, you need the following adapter:
ABM 2548-L (see diagram on page 5)

Trouble Shooting

1.) The locking screws are missing
The following set screws are included in the supplied accessories:

1 Pair of M3x3mm (ABM GSTI3x3A2)
1 Pair of M3x6mm (ABM GSTI3x6A2)

Of course, spare parts are available from the ABM service: info@abm- guitarparts.de

2.) A string pops out of the roller
Is the bridge mounted the wrong way around? The intonation screws must point to the pickups. Bass- and discant rollers have got different design!
The roller design of the ABM 2400c-RO is made for string sets up to a gauge of .010 – .046.

3.) A roller is stuck
The ABM 2400-RO bridge offers a very low play between Spiel zwischen Rolle und Reiter-Korpus. So wird in the roller and it´s saddle body. This ensures the best possible playing experience.
However, moving parts require special care: After playing the guitar, please wipe the bridge with a dry, lint-free cloth. A fine brush is also useful when cleaning the gaps. Occasional blowing out with a compressed air spray is advisable to keep the fine gaps in the moving parts free (without additives).
Please never use lubricants or grease for the rollers, as the gaps between the roller and the saddles can become clogged in the combination with hand sweat over me. To clean the individual parts after disassembly, isopropanol is recommended for degreasing.
Of course, moving parts are also subject to wear and tear. If necessary, please contact our support for spare parts:
info@abm-guitarparts

4.) The strings rest on the outer wall of the bridge facing the tailpiece or tremolo.
The bridge was assembled the wrong way round. The intonation screws must point to the pickups!
