Flex Drain Pro SOLID PIPES
- Begin by digging your trench at a width of 8-12″ and depth of approximately 12″.
- Gradually increase trench depth to create a natural downward slope. This will ensure proper drainage over your given distance. The ground area holding the most water should be the shallowest, while the desired drainage termination should be the deepest part of the trench.
- After trench is complete, place the 4in Flex Drain Pro SOLID into the bottom of the trench.
- Backfill the trench using soil that was originally removed
- Tamp down the backfill, creating a smooth transition to existing ground surface.
Flex Drain Pro PERFORATED PIPES
- Begin by digging your trench at a width of 8-12″ and depth of approximately 12″.
- Gradually increase trench depth to create a natural downward slope. This will ensure proper drainage over your given distance. The ground area holding the most water should be the shallowest, while the desired drainage termination should be the deepest part of the trench.
- After trench is complete, line the bottom of the trench with water-permeable landscaping fabric.
- Next, place a thin 1″-2″ layer of washed gravel into the trench. Be sure to avoid small pea gravel or crushed rock. These fill materials will clog the perforations and will prohibit draining.
- Now lay the 4in FlexDrainPro PERFORATED pipe into the trench.
- Backfill the trench with washed gravel until the drainpipe is completely covered. Be sure to fill in around each side of the pipe, and over the top of the perforated pipe with 1-3″ of the washed gravel.
- Fold either side of the excess landscaping fabric in towards the pipe centreline, completely enclosing the pipe & gravel.
- Place a final layer of topsoil over the landscaping fabric and tamp down the backfill, creating a smooth transition to existing ground surface.
