Removing the Bottle Collar

Your water dispenser may have a bottle collar installed to support water bottles. This bottle collar must be removed. Generally this requires rotating the collar, and lifting it out.SANTE-VIA-9GS-101-Gravity-WaterS-ystem-

How to Assemble

FIG-3

  1. Remove the nut and one Silicone Washer from the Float Valve stem.

  2. Place Float Valve stem through the hole in the Lower Tank with one Silicone Washer on each side. Tighten the nut on the inside.
Note: when the float is raised upwards by water in your water cooler’s reservoir the Float Valve will close.

  3. Place Lower Tank onto your water cooler.

  4. Place the Middle Ring onto the Lower Tank.

  5. Screw the Fluoride Filter into the Cartridge Connector and set in Middle Ring.

  6. Insert Ceramic Pre-filter into the Upper Tank with one Silicone Washer on the inside of the tank and one on the outside of the tank. Tighten the Pre-filter Nut by hand.

  7. Condition your filtration system (see next page).

  8. Place Mineral Stones into the Lower Tank, ensuring that no bio-ceramic balls or stones enter the hole in the Float Valve stem.

Condition Your Filtration System

Before drinking from the Gravity Water System is it important to condition the filtration system as follows: run two Upper Tanks of water through the system. Remove the Lower Tank from the system, and discard the water (or give it to your plants). Thoroughly rinse the Lower Tank to remove any excess filter media. Return the Lower Tank to the system. Place Mineral Stones in the Lower Tank.
One full Upper Tank takes approximately three hours to filter. If it takes longer than three hours to filter an Upper Tank of water, scrub your Ceramic Pre-filter some more with the sponge included with your Gravity Water System or scrub with a clean abrasive sponge (like the green side of a Scotch-Brite sponge).

Long Contact Filtration

The Gravity Water System uses long-contact filtration to provide the highest level of contaminant reduction. The Ceramic Pre-filter drips water slowly through the system to ensure that the middle filter has a long period of contact with the water to remove contaminants.

Because of the Gravity Water System’s large reservoir, you should always have water available after the initial condition and fill. You will only need to fill the Upper Tank every 1-2 days depending on how many people drink from it.

Tip: fill the Upper Tank at night to ensure the Lower Tank is replenished by morning.
WARNING: DO NOT fill the Upper Tank if the Lower Tank is completely full as this will cause the Lower Tank to overflow.

Testing Your Water pH at Home

  • To test the pH of your Gravity Water System use a liquid pH test kit.
  • Litmus or pH paper cannot be used to measure pH of water.

The Alkaline Difference
By adding alkaline minerals Santevia water filters raise the pH of your water by up to +2.0 units creating a smooth and silky taste. These alkaline minerals raise the alkalinity (resistance to acid) of your water, supporting your body’s ability to neutralize excess acidity. Too much acidity, caused by certain foods and stress, can lead to poor health and chronic illness. Drinking mineralized alkaline water supports optimal health so you can feel your best.

Maintaining Your Gravity Water System

As Needed:
The Ceramic Pre-filter filters more slowly as contaminants are captured in its pores. To increase its filtration speed scrub the surface of the Ceramic Pre- filter with the grey sponge included in the box or with another clean abrasive sponge. Do not use soap or detergent. Rinse under running tap water after scrubbing the surface. This could be as often as weekly, or as needed.

Note: some water sources have more particulate so more frequent cleaning may be required. The Ceramic Pre-filter may change colour over time as it filters particulate from your source water.
WARNING: Follow the instructions provided with any replacement filters to properly prepare them for use.

How Long Do My Gravity Water System Filters Last?

  • Ceramic Pre-filter
    • LASTS 1 YEAR
  • Fluoride Filter ˙
    • LASTS 4 MONTHS
  • 5-Stage Filter ˙
    • LASTS 6 MONTHS
  • Mineral Stones
    • LASTS 2 YEAR

INFO: These filters are interchangeable. The Fluoride Filter reduces everything the 5-Stage Filter does as well as filtering fluoride.

Every 4-6 Months:
When you replace your Fluoride or 5-Stage Filter we recommend a complete wash of the Gravity Water System. Follow these steps: wash all plastic parts including the tap with a soft sponge and a cleaning solution (5 mL / 1 tsp bleach to 1 L / 4 cups water). Rinse well with tap water.

Do not use a cleaning solution for the Ceramic Pre-filter, Fluoride Filter or 5-Stage Filter. Do not scrub plastic parts with a coarse material like scrub wool or steel wool.
To sanitize the Mineral Stones place them in boiling water for one minute. Drain the stones and lay them out on a clean towel to cool. Place the Mineral Stones into the Lower Tank after the Fluoride Filter has been conditioned.

Note: stones absorb odor. Do not use scented towels or towels with fabric conditioners.

In an Emergency
The Gravity Water System can be used to make safe water in an emergency situation like an earthquake or flood.

  1. Collect the cleanest water you can find.
  2. Aerate the collected water by shaking it in a sealed container.
  3. Pass this water through a piece of cloth to remove any large suspended particles.
  4. If possible boil water for one minute or if you cannot boil water, add two drops of unscented household bleach per liter of water, stirring well.
  5. Let stand for 30 minutes. 6 Pass this water through the Gravity Water System.
