PRECAUTIONS

  • Inspect the leash before each use and ensure all parts are in good condition. If any part of the leash or your dog’s collar are damaged or frayed (including damage from chewing or biting), do not use this leash.
  • Watch out for abrasion and biting/chewing, as these are main causes of leash material damage. Do not use if your leash or dog’s collar is damaged; snap back can occur if there is a break and cause serious injury.
  • Do not allow the leash to wrap around any body part. Watch out for bystanders, including other animals.
  • Attach the leash to your dog’s collar or harness on the designated leash ring. Do not attach this leash to your dog’s ID tag ring, as it could break and cause injury.
  • Make sure the hook is securely closed and the spring is intact. If the snap does not stay closed, do not use the leash and contact customer support for assistance.
  • Do not let your dog run from the start to the end of the line, as excessive pull force could pull the user and cause injury.
  • Never hold or grab the leash by the tape or cord. Always hold it by the handle. Grabbing the tape or cord by hand could cause serious injury, including finger amputation.
  • Do not tie the retractable leash around any object.
  • Do not attempt to open the leash casing. The leash is permanently sealed to prevent injury from the internal coiled spring.

INSTRUCTIONS

To stop or brake the leash, push the brake button down with your thumb. To lock the brake in place, move the button forward with your thumb until it is secure. Keep your thumb over the lock button for extra safety. To release the brake, pull the lock button back. To shorten the distance between you and your pet:

  • Extend your arm and press the brake button.
  • Move toward your pet and bring your arm to your side.
  • Release the brake button and slowly move your arm toward your pet. Press the brake after excess tape is recovered and repeat as necessary.

LEASH CLEANING

Washing the leash body is easy. Simply wipe it down with a warm, soapy washcloth and dry when finished. To clean the leash tape, you’ll first need to have a backup leash because your TUG retractable will need time to dry. You can pull the entire length of the leash out and lock it in place, then give the nylon tape a warm, soapy bath. Be careful not to use abrasives during cleaning, but a soft-head toothbrush is fine. After cleaning and rinsing, be sure to leave the nylon outside of the casing until it has fully dried. Be sure not to mistakenly retract the leash while it’s still soaking wet,as extra moisture inside the leash could cause retraction problems in the future. After drying, perform an inspection on the leash tape/cord to ensure there is no damage.
