DANGER
Electrical installations not carried out correctly represent a risk of serious
personal injury and/or damage to property, for exam Safe electrical
installation is only guaranteed if the person carrying out the work can
demonstrate basic knowledge in the following areas:
- Connecting to installation networks
- Connecting several electrical devices
- Laying electric cables
- Laying network cables and guaranteeing interference resistance
- Connecting and establishing local IP networks
These skills and experience are normally technology. If these minimum requirements are not met or are disregarded in any way, you will be solely liable for any damage to property or personal injury.

Getting to know the U.motion door station set
This set enables you to establish an intercom connection (audio/video) from
the supplied door station (7) to an intercom-capable device from U.motion.
Intercom-capable devices include U.motion touch panels, PCs with browsers
(Google Chrome, Apple Safari) and the U.motion communication app.
A door station with 1 or 2 bell push-buttons is also available depending on
the set. The device uses PoE and must be connected to a PoE-capable network.
The supplied IP switching device (6) has two potential-free switch outputs by
means of which you can control an electric door opener and switch on the
staircase light.
The IP switching device needs an AC 230 V supply voltage; the device provides
AC 9 V / 600 mA for controlling the door opener.
The supplied video encoder (1) converts analogue video signals from the door
station into network-compatible signals for the. The device uses PoE and must
be connected to a PoE-capable network.
These step-by-step instructions show you how to take the set into operation.
In addition, each product is supplied with operating instructions that refer
to special device functions in more detail.
Additional requirements and prerequisites
Recommendation: Use Cat 5 network cables (or better) to minimise interference.
- AXIS IP utility: These software applications can be found on the CD supplied with the video encoder.
- This software application forms part of the U.motion KNX Server Plus.
- IP Setup software: You can find the software application on the door sation CD.
The computer running the software applications and the devices must be in the same network segment (subnet).

Installing the set
Mounting the video encoder
The video encoder can be mounted on the wall or ceiling of the room using the
supplied mounting bracket, screws and plugs.
Ensure that the mounting bracket engages correctly on the underside of the
video encoder.
Mounting the door station and IP switching device
Mount the door station and IP switching device according to the operating
instructions supplied with the products.
Connecting the set
The supplied circuit diagram shows how the devices in the set should be
connected.
Door station: Disconnect the pre-wiring of the built-in loudspeaker (Va, Vb)
in order to connect the passive video transceiver.
Configuring the video encoder with connected door station camera
The AXIS IP Utility software application enables you to locate and configure
the video encoder in the network. The Axis IP Utility software is on the CD of
the video encoder. -> www.axis.com = AXIS IP Utility
The following section assumes that a DHCP server in your network automatically
allocates IP addresses. If you would like to allocate IP addresses manually in
your network, refer to the video encoder manual for detailed information about
this.
Launch the software:
- Selet a different language if necessary
The video encoder is automatically displayed for you when the software starts.
Make a note of the IP address specified here, because you will need to know
this IP address at another point.
-
Double-click the video encoder icon. The start screen of the video encoder appears. The Configure Root Password dialog box is displayed on the first time you access the start screen. Define the administrator password here.
-
Enter the password, repeat the password and click the OK button. A direct view of the camera picture is shown for you.
-
Click Setup to call up the settings.
-
Click 1 Users to set options for the password.
-
Activate the Enable anonymous viewer login (no user name or password required) option.
This activation is required for fault-free display in the
U.motion touch panel. -
Save your settings (Save)
You can exit the software application.
In the following steps, you reset all parameters (including the IP addresses) to the factory default settings.
- Disconnect the network cable from the video encoder.
- Press and hold the control button and reconnect the network cable.
- Press and hold the control button until the status LED lights up yellow.
The video encoder has been reset when the status LED lights up green. The
process may take about 1 minute.
For further setting options, please refer to the operating instructions of the
video encoder.
Configuring U.motion KNX Server Plus
In the U.motion Builder, you must:
- configure the video encoder as a door station camera in the video monitoring function;
- create the door station as a new intercom external unit;
- link the door station to the camera.
Configuring the video encoder as a door station camera in the video monitoring function
- Open the U.motion Builder.
- Navigate to the video monitoring menu item.
- Create a new camera (+).
- Make the following settings on the configuration screen of the camera:
– Specify the name of your camera (e.g. Door station)
– Select Generic (JPEG) as the video format
– Specify the IP address of the video encoder, followed by the following path:
http://xxx.xxx.x.xxxJazis-cglipg/image.cgi
– IP port: 80 – Protocol: IITTP
– Maximum pictures per second: 5
– JPG
Creating the door station as an intercom external unit
- Navigate to the (External units) menu item.
- Create a new external unit (+).
- Enter the name of the door station, the VoIP number and the password.
Linking the door station to the door station camera
-
Keep the configuration screen of the external unit open.
-
Enter the name of the newly created camera in the search function (in this example: Door station).
The camera is shown to you as the search result. -
Click and drag the search result to the linking area of the configuration screen for the external unit that is still open. The door station and door station camera are now linked.
Configuring the door station and IP switching device Using the IP Setup software, you can locate and configure IP door stations and IP switching devices in the network, for example, and define allocations (bell push-button <-> device). The IP Setup software is located on the CD supplied with the door station.
Install the software on your PC (following the instruc-tions from the installation wizard) and start the software.
- Create a new project.
- Determine the location of the integrated IP devices in the system.
- Select the door station.
- Click the TK-Anbindung tab.
- Under Registrar, enter the IP address of the U.motion KNX Server Plus and the SIP telephone number of the door station.
- Click Ruf Ober SIP Registrar anlegen to create an SIP entry (the device that you want to call).
- Click the Klingeltasten tab.
- Click Add to add the device that you want to call.
- Select the SIP call connection for the bell push-button and confirm with Ok.
The various functions such as timer, break/ make contact and changeover functions of the IP switching device must also be configured. To do this, click the Schaltgerate folder to access the configuration.
