SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS
Please carefully read recommendations and warnings before installing and
using the ballast!
The installation and use of the ballast is the responsibility of the end user.
Incorrect installation can cause damage to the product. The warranty shall
become void if the product and/or electronic components are damaged due to
incorrect installation.
WARNING
- Always adhere to the local building and electrical codes (local rules and regulations) when installing or using the ballast.
- Do not open and/or disassemble the ballast as it contains no serviceable parts inside. Opening and/or modifying the ballast can be dangerous and will void the warranty.
- Connect the ballast only to the power sources of the appropriate voltage using the plug received with the packing. Never plug the ballast in unless it is already connected to a lighting fixture – complete with a lamp.
- Always switch off the main voltage before commencing installation or maintenance work (for example, before handling the reflector or changing the lamp).
- Do not use the ballast when either the lighting fixture or its power cable is damaged. Modifications to the cables can lead to unwanted electromagnetic effects which may damage the product. Protect power cables from being pinched, walked on, or otherwise damaged. Be especially careful where the power cable enters the power outlet and the ballast.
- Do not defeat the safety purpose of a grounding or polarized plug by removing ground pins. You may replace the power cable with a correctly rated cable only.
- The ballast is passively cooled with zero moving components. Natural convection removes heat away from the heatsink. In order for the system to properly cool itself, at least 20cm (Sin) of clearance for your ballast on all sides is recommended, do not place them close together nor stack them upon each other.
- Do not use the ballast near flammable, explosive, or reactive substances. Never immerse the ballast, or the lead and plug, in water or any other liquid.
Please carefully read recommendations and warnings before assembling and
using the fixture!
The installation and use of the fixture is the responsibility of the end user.
Incorrect installation can cause damage to the product. The warranty shall
become void if the product and/or electronic components are damaged due to
incorrect installation.
ATTENTION
- Never pull the cord to unplug the ballast, pull the plug only.
- Lamps are incredibly hot while in use. Never touch an illuminated lamp and allow plenty of time for them to cool down before touching it.
- Always use good quality lamps with your ballasts – preferably from the major manufacturers. Cheap inferior lamps may fail to ignite and should be avoided.
- Allow lamps to cool down after use. Do not attempt to restrike a hot lamp for at least 20 minutes. This careful usage will significantly extend useful lamp life.
PRODUCT INSTALLATION
Please carefully read the recommendations and warnings before assembling
and using the fixture!
The installation and use of the fixture is the responsibility of the end user.
Incorrect installation can cause damage to the product. The warranty shall
become void if the product and/or electronic components are damaged due to
incorrect installation.
What is included in the box?
- The ballast: 1 unit
- AC power cord: 1 piece, 2m (6.5ft)
- RJ cable (for PWM controller: 1 piece (DIGITAL Pro 600 only)
Preparation for installation
- Refer to your light plan. Arrange the place for the ballast & fixture to be mounted. Prepare steel cables and appropriate “hangers” or any other tools to hang the fixture, as it will have to hold significant weight.
- Remove the ballast from the packaging and check contents. Check if the power cord is not damaged and safe to use.
- Bring any additional tools and/or hardware that may be required to mount the fixture.
- Switch off the main voltage.
WARNING
- Mounting and installing the ballast & fixture must be in accordance with the applicable local laws and regulations.
- Make sure the local cabling can support the voltage and current requirements of the ballast.
- The installer is responsible for correct and safe installation.
The ballast installation
- Hang reflector in the chosen location. Find a suitable place for the ballast. The unit must not be mounted on a flammable surface but preferably placed on a shelf or wall-mounted. It should NOT be placed on the floor where it can be affected by water.
- Make sure that the lamp’s wattage matches the ballast wattage. Screw the lamp into the reflector tightly. Wipe the lamp with a soft cloth after handling it.
- Plug reflector into the ballast. Make sure that the IEC plug is firmly located in the female socket. Plug ballast into a mains outlet and switch on at mains.
ATTENTION
If the unit (ballast and reflector) fails to operate – LAMP NOT STRIKING –
please follow this procedure:
- Turn off the ballast at the mains and remove the plug from the wall socket.
- Check that the wall socket is working by plugging in a known working device.
- Check that lamp is screwed in tightly. Plugin and try again.
- If it still fails to ignite, unplug the unit again and replace the lamp with a new one – preferably from a different manufacturer and switch on the ballast.
If the unit still fails to operate, return it to your retailer for a
replacement.
When routing the ballast’ power cord, ensure that:
- The cord is not concealed or extended through a wall, floor, ceiling, or other parts of the building structure, such as above a suspended or dropped ceiling.
- The routed cord is not subject to strain, and is protected from physical damage.
- The cord is not permanently affixed to the building structure.
Connecting the ballasts with lighting fixtures to the external PWM
controller
Connect controller (output) using RJ cable to ballast connector. Using the
second RJ cable, connect the current ballots to the next one. This way, you
can connect up to 80 ballasts on one chain.
ATTENTION
- Always switch off the main voltage before connecting the ballasts and fixtures to the chain.
- The dimming button on all ballasts has to be adjusted to E.X.T.
STORAGE, DISPOSAL & WARRANTY
You can store the ballast in a dry and clean environment, with an ambient temperature of 0°C to 45°C. The product must not be discarded as unsorted municipal waste. It must be collected separately for treatment, recovery, and environmentally sound disposal.
