how to install your Bradford White water heater, please check the Installation

ADAPTER INSTALLATION
-
Mount the Adapter onto a flat surface using the supplied screws or the adhesive strips. Place the Adapter away from the water heater for stronger signal strength.
For spacing, the Adapter must be within 5 feet of a 120V outlet and must be within reach of the ethernet port on the front of the water heater. The supplied ethernet cable is 7 feet long, however an ethernet cable (CAT5e) up to 100 feet long will work as well.
The action button and front label of the Adapter must be visible and easily accessible during installation. If using the screws, please do not screw the Adapter into the water heater. Use the screws and anchors supplied with the adapter.
If using the interlocking strips, attach one strip to each end of the back of the Adapter by peeling one side of the interlock tape and pressing onto the Adapter. Once the strips are firmly attached to the Adapter, peel the other side of both strips so the adhesive is visible. Line up the location of the Adapter, then firmly press and hold the Adapter onto the flat surface for 10 seconds. -
Plug one end of an ethernet cable into the RJ45 port on the Adapter and another into the RJ45 port on the water heater. Supplied with the Bradford White Connect™ Adapter is a 7 foot CAT5e ethernet cable. Please use either this cable or a similar one, up to a length of 100 feet.
Recommended: Plug the Modbus port on the side of the Adapter using the supplied plug (blue). This is to prevent dust from entering the port, which may be used in future updates. -
Plug the 5 foot power supply cable from the power port of the Adapter to a 120V voltage source. Please only use the cable provided by Bradford White Corporation. At this point, the indicator light should turn green.
-
Open the Bradford White Connect™ App and log in using your email and password. To sign up, click “SIGN UP as Homeowner” in the bottom left corner of the screen and follow the on-screen instructions. Once logged in, begin the pairing process by clicking “Add Water Heater” and follow the on-screen instructions.
-
To Discover the Adapter first hold the action button on the Adapter for 3 seconds. This will begin the Bluetooth pairing mode, indicated by a flashing blue LED light on the Adapter. Your Adapter will now be discoverable by your mobile device.
Select the Adapter from the Discover screen, the mobile device will prompt you for a 6-digit code. Plug in the last six digits of your Adapter’s serial number, which can be found on the front label of the Adapter. This step is for multifactor authentication and is for security purposes. -
Once your Adapter and mobile device are connected via Bluetooth, your mobile device will prompt you to select a local wireless network. Select your network and enter the network password using your mobile device.
-
If your Adapter is successfully able to connect to the wireless network, you will see this screen. If empty, type in the serial number of the water heater or click the box to scan the barcode on the side of the heater. If your installing contractor uses the Bradford White Connect™ App, this step may already be complete. Click the box on the bottom of the Congratulations page to complete the installation.
Electric Grid Connectivity (Optional)
To participate in a utility energy management program, an ASSE-approved
thermostatic mixing valve must be installed in the water system. This valve
will reduce point of discharge temperature by mixing cold and hot water in
branch supply lines. Please consult with a plumbing professional for an
appropriately specified ASSE thermostatic mixing valve.
Your Bradford White Connect™ Adapter is equipped with a CTA-2045 (DC) port,
used for energy management by the electric grid. Insert a compatible DC
Universal Communications Module (UCM), supplied by your electric utility
provider, into the CTA-2045 port on the Adapter. Follow the UCM instructions
provided by the utility company to connect the UCM to the utility grid.
Further management of utility programs, including enabling or disabling, can
be done in the Water Heater Settings of the Bradford White Connect™ App.
For more details about participation or eligibility, contact your electric
utility provider.
