MILLER #475 ANCHORAGE CONNECTOR
The Miller#475 anchorage connector is designed to provide a single user
with an easily installed anchorage connector
REQUIREMENTS
A. WARNINGS AND LIMITATIONS
Proper precautions should always be taken to remove any obstructions, debris,
and other material from the work area that could cause injuries or interfere
with the operation f the product. Caution should always be taken to insure
that all equipment will be clear of recognized hazards before work begins.
Note: Users should be familiar with pertinent regulations governing this
equipment. All individuals who use this product must be correctly instructed
on how to use the evice, and must read and understand the following
instructions before use.
-
The structure that this product is attached to must be capable of supporting a 5,000 lb. static load in the direction of pull.
-
This device should be attached to a structure that is independent of the working surface.
-
For use by one peron only. The design working load is 310 pounds – DO NOT EXCEED THIS WEIGHT.
-
Only trained and competent personnel should install and use this device and its components.
-
Do not use the product if any component does not operate properly or appears to be damaged.
-
Use only locking carabiners to attach to this product. Refer to drawing above.
-
Do not use this device if it has been subjected to fall arresting forces. OSHA requires all components of a personal fall arrest system be removed from service if subjected to fall arresting forces.
-
Do not attempt to repair this device or alter in any way.
-
Work directly under the anchor point to avoid the hazards of a swing fall.
-
Fall arrest systems used with this connector must be rigged to limit the free fall distance to six (6) feet or less.
-
Allow sufficient clearance in the event of a free fall. The use of a shock absorber is recommended.
NOTE: Shock absorbers may elongate 3 1/2 feet upon activation. -
Use in corrosive or caustic environment dictates a more frequent inspection and servicing program to ensure the integrity of the product is maintained.
B. SYSTEM COMPATIBILITY
The Miller anchorage connectors are designed for use with Miller approved
components. Substitution or replacement with non-approved components will
endanger the ompatibility within the system and may affect he reliability
and safety of the total system.
INSTALLATION
Before installation of this equipment, carefully inspect to assure that it is in useable condition. Check for missing or damaged parts. Consult the inspection section for further details.
-
Attach the hook to the extension pole by inserting it into the receiver and aligning the pin with the hole which will lock it in position. Adjust pole to the desired length by wisting the sections of pole to release the locking mechanism. Once adjusted to the desired length, twist the pole sections again to activate the locking mechanism.
-
Attach lanyard or lifeline to the attachment ring with a locking carabiner only. Use with a shock absorber is recommended.
-
Locate and identify a structure capable of withstanding a 5,000 Ib. static load in the direction that the anchorage connector will stress it.
FIG. 1
-
Install the hook by pushing it over the anchorage and rotating it 90 degrees. Both halves of the hook must come together for proper attachment to the anchorage. Examples of such anchorages may be small beams, angle or other structures that the device will accommodate and maintain a 5,000 Ibs. tensile strength.
WARNING: Connect to the attachment ring only with a locking carabiner.
Removal: To remove the device simply reverse the installation procedure
TRAINING
It is the responsibility of the user and the purchaser of this equipment to
assure they are familiar with these instructions and are trained in the proper
use, nstallation, operation, maintenance and limitations of this product.
Training should be conducted periodically and without exposing the trainee to
a fall hazard.
INSPECTION
Before each use, visually inspect for the following:
- Inspect for physical damages, wear, and corrosion.
- Check the anchorage connector and components for damage, cracks, wear, corrosion, or malfunctioning items.
- Check for misaligned or bent components. Check spring action to ensure proper closing of hook.
- Inspect each system component in accordance with the associated operation and instruction manuals.
WARNING: If inspection reveals a defect in condition, remove the unit from service immediately
MAINTENANCE
A. SERVICING Servicing must only be carried out by a qualified person trained
in the inspection and replacement of the device. A record log of all servicing
and inspection dates for this system should be maintained by the company
