Thank you, and congratulations on your choice of the BOSS Foot Volume FV500H.
Before using this unit, carefully read the sections entitled: “USING THE UNIT SAFELY” and “IMPORTANT NOTES. “These sections provide important information concerning the proper operation of the unit.
Additionally, in order to feel assured that you have gained a good grasp of every feature provided by your new unit, Owner`s manual should be read in its entirety. The manual should be saved and kept on hand as a convenient reference.

Features

  • High-impedance volume pedal is optimal for connecting directly to guitars and basses.
  • TUNER OUT jack lets you tune without having to change your cable connections.
  • A screw on the bottom of the unit allows you to adjust the feel of the pedal to your liking.
  • With an optional connection cable (stereo 1/4″ phone 1 stereo 1/4″ phone), you can also use the FV-500H as an expression pedal.

  • The FV-500H is a high-impedance device and should directory connected to a guitar or bass guitar as shown in the picture.

  • To prevent malfunction and/or damage to speakers or other devices, always turn down the volume, and turn off the power on all devices before making any connections.

  • When you operate the pedal, please be careful not to get your fingers pinched between the movable part and the panel.

  • To use the FV-500H as an expression pedal, you will need an optional connection cable (stereo 1/4” phone plugs at both ends).

Operation

  1. Connect the FV-500H to a guitar (or bass) and an amp as shown in the picture.
  2. With the pedal fully depressed, set the maximum volume level by adjusting the volume on the guitar (or bass) and amp.
  3. Return the pedal to the minimum position. set the minimum volume level using the MINIMUM VOLUME knob on the pedal. (The maximum volume level cannot be changed with the MINIMUM VOLUME knob.)
  4. Adjust the pedal.
    Now you can control the volume within the range you have just specified.

How to use the TUNER OUT jack
Connect the output of a guitar to INPUT on the FV-500H. Connect a tuner to the TUNER OUT jack.
If you return the pedal to the minimum position, you can now tune the instrument without any sound from the amplifier. (in this case, set the MINIMUM VOLUME knob to zero.)

  1. **Connect the EXP jack of the FV-500H to the EXP PEDAL (or EV-5) jack of the instrument you wish to control.
  • **The FV-500H is similar in design to the Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal and therefore can be connected to the EXP PEDAL (EV-5) jack on Roland BOSS products. Note that connecting to other jacks may result in damage to the equipment. 2. Depress the pedal fully and set the maximum volume on the connected
    instrument.

    1. Return the pedal to the minimum position. Set the minimum volume using the MINIMUM VOLUME knob on the pedal.
      ***** When setting maximum and minimum values on the connected device, be sure to have the MINIMUM VOLUME knob set at the minimum level.

    2. Adjust the pedal.
      Now you can control the volume within the range you have just specified.

Adjusting PEDAL FEEL

You can get the feel of the pedal just the way you like it by rotating the PEDAL FEEL adjustment screw on the FV-500H’s bottom panel with a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Turning the screw in the LIGHT (left) direction gives the pedal a lighter feel.
  • Turning the screw in the HEAVY (right) direction gives the pedal a heavier feel.

Maintenance

  • Never use benzine, thinners, alcohol or solvents of any kind, to avoid the possibility of discoloration and/or deformation.

Additional Precautions

  • Use a reasonable amount of care when using the unit’s knob or other controls; and when using its jacks and connectors. Rough handling can lead to malfunctions.
  • When connecting / disconnecting all cables, grasp the connector itself-never pull on the cable. This way you will avoid causing shorts, or damage to the cable’s internal elements.

Never use or store the unit in places that are:

  • Subject to high levels of vibration

Make sure you always have the unit placed so it is level and sure to remain stable. Never place it on stands that could wobble, or on inclined surfaces.
Do not allow any objects (e.g., flammable material, coins, pins); or liquids of any kind (water, soft drinks, etc.) to penetrate the unit.
In households with small children, an adult should provide supervision until the child is capable of following all the rules essential for the safe operation of the unit.
Protect the unit from strong impact. (Do not drop it!)

CAVTION
Try to prevent cords and cables from becoming entangled. Also, all  cords and cables should be placed so they are out of the reach of children.
