Using the FV-500L as a volume pedal
Connections
- Because the FV-500L is designed low-impedance, it should be set up with a guitar as shown in the picture; after an effect unit.
- To prevent malfunction and/or damage to speakers or other devices, always turn down the volume, and turn off the power on all devices before making any connections.
- When you operate the pedal, please be careful not to get your fingers pinched between the movable part and the panel.
Operation
- Connect the FV-500L to a guitar (or keyboard) and an amp as shown in the picture.
- With the pedal fully depressed, set the maximum volume level by adjusting the volume on the guitar (or keyboard) and amp.
- Return the pedal to the minimum position. set the minimum volume level using the MINIMUM VOLUME knob on the pedal. (The maximum volume level cannot be changed with the MINIMUM VOLUME knob.)
- Adjust the pedal.
Now you can control the volume within the range you have just specified.
How to use the TUNER OUT jack
Connect the output of a guitar to INPUT on the FV-500L. Connect a tuner to the
TUNER OUT jack. If you return the pedal to the minimum position, you can now
tune the instrument without any sound from the amplifier. (in this case, set
the MINIMUM VOLUME knob to zero.)
- The signal from INPUT 2 cannot be sent to the TUNER OUT jack.
Using the FV-500L as an expression pedal
Connections
- To use the FV-500L as an expression pedal, you will need an optional connection cable (stereo 1/4″ phone plugs at both ends).
- When you operate the pedal, please be careful not to get your fingers pinched between the movable part and the panel.
Operation
- Connect the EXP jack of the FV-500L to the EXP PEDAL (or EV-5) jack of the instrument you wish to control.
- The FV-500L is similar in design to the Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal and therefore can be connected to the EXP PEDAL (EV-5) jack on Roland BOSS products. Note that connecting to other jacks may result in damage to the equipment. 2. Depress the pedal fully and set the maximum volume on the connected instrument. 3. Return the pedal to the minimum position. Set the minimum volume using the MINIMUM VOLUME knob on the pedal.
- When setting maximum and minimum values on the connected device, be sure to have the MINIMUM VOLUME knob set at the minimum level.
4. Adjust the pedal.
Now you can control the volume within the range you have just specified.
Adjusting PEDAL FEEL
You can get the feel of the pedal just the way you like it by rotating the PEDAL FEEL adjustment screw on the FV-500L’s bottom panel with a Phillips screwdriver.
- Turning the screw in the LIGHT (left) direction gives the pedal a lighter feel.
- Turning the screw in the HEAVY (right) direction gives the pedal a heavier feel.
