Features
The Amplifier Probe is designed to identify and trace the signal generated by a Tone Generator along cables or wires without damaging the insulation.

Operation

Cable Tracing
The amplifier probe is designed to identify and trace signals generated by the Tone Generator.
The Tone Generator is linked to the cable or wires to be traced and the signal can be followed along the cable and to the ends of individual wires with the amplifier probe. Press and hold the ON button to turn on the amplifier probe.

Hold the tip of amplifier probe near wires or cables to be identified. The signal will be loudest on the cable or wire that the generator is attached to. Adjust the volume as required. The signal strength LED will vary in brightness depending on the strength of the signal being detected. The brightness is not affected by the volume control. In noisy environments, a headset (not included) may be plugged into the headphone socket.
Turn the volume control down first to avoid possible damage to hearing.
The LED torch on the underside of the case is useful when the amplifier probe is used in dark areas. This is turned on by pressing the LED torch button. This is adjacent to the main ON button so that both buttons may be pressed simultaneously if required. The battery status indicator will turn on when the battery voltage is low to indicate that the battery should be replaced.
The battery cover is on the rear of the probe and is accessed by the retaining screw. Remove and replace the old battery and replace the cover. Do not leave discharged batteries in the amplifier probe.

Pair Identification
Locate the target pair and short the targeted wire.
The tone will mute to indicate you have located the target pair correctly. If tone continues then pick a different pair and try again.
