This BLACK+DECKER tower heater and fan combo is the best option when it comes to space heaters for indoor use, portable heaters for indoor usage, indoor electric heaters, and outdoor portable heaters. This appliance includes an energy-saving mode in addition to a programmable thermostat, 24-hour delay, shut-off timer, and remote control. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  3. Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near children or invalids and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
  4. Always unplug heater when not in use.
  5. Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug or after the heater malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Discard heater or return heater to authorized service facility for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, or repair.
  6. Do not use outdoors.
  7. This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar indoor locations. Never locate heater where it may fall into bathtub or other water container.
  8. Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Do not route cord under furniture or appliances. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
  9. To disconnect heater, first turn controls to off, then remove plug from outlet.
  10. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
  11. To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
  12. A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in the areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
  13. Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  14. This heater draws 12.5 amps during operation. To prevent overloading a circuit, do not plug the heater into a circuit that already has other appliances working.
  15. The output of this heater may vary and its temperature may become intense enough to burn exposed skin. Use of this heater is not recommended for persons with reduced sensitivity to heat or an inability to react to avoid burns.
  16. Don’t leave the heater on unattended.

ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

OVERHEAT SAFETY FEATURE

This heater is equipped with a overheat safety feature. When the heater’s internal components reach a certain temperature that could cause overheating and possible fire, the heater will automatically shut off. If this should occur, please contact our Customer Satisfaction Center at 844-299-0879.

WARNING

It is normal for the power cord to feel warm to the touch; however, a loose fit between the outlet and the plug may cause overheating of the plug. If this occurs, try inserting the plug into a different outlet.

Contact a qualified electrician to inspect the original outlet for damage.

CAUTION

Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).

BATTERY INFORMATION

  • KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Swallowing may lead to serious injury or death. Severe burns can occur within 2 hours of ingestion. Immediately see a doctor and have the doctor phone 202-625-3333 collect. Keep in original package until ready to use. Dispose of used batteries immediately. Risk of injury due to fire, explosion or leakage. Do not disassemble, charge, crush or expose to fire or high temperatures.
  • LITHIUM COIN CELL SAFETY NOTICE: Keep lithium coin batteries out of the reach of small children; coin cell batteries can be accidentally ingested. If ingested, these batteries may leak harmful contents causing chemical burns, perforation of soft tissue, and in severe cases may cause death. Lithium coin batteries must be removed immediately if swallowed. Seek medical attention immediately.   • In order to prevent unnecessary battery drain, do not store anything on the scale.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Place the heater on a firm, level surface and plug the unit directly into a 120V AC electrical outlet.

When the heater is plugged in it will be in standby mode.

Press the POWER  button on the heater or the remote control to start the heater. The heater will supply HIGH heat and show temperature of 95°F on the digital display. Press the Mode  button repeatedly to scroll through High Heat, Low Heat, Fan Only, E-Save Settings.

E-SAVE FUNCTION

When the E-Save function is activated and eco shows on the digital display, the heater will automatically select power levels based on the selected temperature and room temperature. The heater will cycle between these settings to achieve maximum comfort while using lower wattage settings to save energy.

SETTING TO TEMPERATURE LEVELS (40°F – 95°F)

Press + to increase the set temperature by 5°F and press – to decrease the set temperature by 5°F increments each time you press until your desired temperature is set. The selected temperature will show on the digital display.

OSCILLATING AIR FLOW

 Pressing this button will active the oscillating air flow. Press again to shut off this function.

TIMER FUNCTIONS

DELAY START

When the heater is in standby mode press the  button to enter the number of hours you would like the heater to start by pressing to increase and to decrease by one hour each time the button is pressed. The number of hours selected will count down on the digital display.

NOTE: The heater is in standby mode when it is plugged in and POWER button has not been pressed.

AUTO SHUT-OFF

When the heater is operating press the  button to enter the number of hours you would like the heater to shut-off by pressing + to increase and – to decrease by one hour each time the button is pressed. The number of hours selected will count down on the digital display.

DIGITAL DISPLAY

After 1 minute of setting the heater, the LED lights with exception of the operating function symbol will turn off. To continue to view the full digital display press the + and – buttons at the same time for 2 seconds. To turn off the digital display press the press the + and – buttons at the same time for 2 seconds.

NOTE: The heater thermostat has memory and will remember the previous temperature setting after the unit has been turned off. If the unit is unplugged, the heater thermostat will be reset and will no longer remember the previous temperature setting.

To shut unit off at any time, press the POWER Button until all indicator lights go OFF.

REMOTE CONTROL

BATTERY INSTALLATION (BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED)

  1. Push the button next to the battery cover to release the battery cover.
  2. Insert 1 × CR2032 type lithium battery (not included), making sure “+” side is facing up as shown in the diagram.
  3. Once battery is installed, push battery cover closed.

CARE & CLEANING

MAINTENANCE
  1. Turn power off before cleaning.
  2. Unplug the unit and let it cool completely.
  3. To keep the heater clean, the outer shell may be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. You may use a mild detergent if necessary. After cleaning, dry the unit with a soft cloth.

CAUTION: DO NOT let liquid enter the heater.

  1. DO NOT use alcohol, gasoline, abrasive powders, furniture polish, or rough brushes to clean the heater. This may cause damage or deterioration to the surface of the heater.
  2. DO NOT immerse the heater in water.
  3. Wait until the unit is completely dry before use.

STORAGE

Store the heater in a cool, dry location when not in use. To prevent dust and dirt build-up, use the original packaging to repack the unit.

TROUBLESHOOTING & WARRANTY

If the Digital Display indicates an error code of E1 or E2 this indicates an issue with the temperature sensor. Unplug the heater and contact W Appliance Co. Customer Satisfaction Center at 844-299-0879 or service@equitybrands.com

BEFORE YOU CALL FOR SERVICE

IF THE HEATER/FAN FAILS TO OPERATE:

  1. Check to make sure that the heater/fan is plugged in securely. If it is not, remove the plug from the outlet, wait 10 seconds and plug it in again securely.
  2. Check for a blown circuit fuse or a tripped main circuit breaker. If these seem to be operating properly, test the outlet with another appliance.
  3. Check if electricity to the main power switch in the back of the unit appears to be working.
  4. Make sure the heater is in the upright position.

NOTE: For the heater to function properly, the desired temperature on the heater must be set a few degrees higher than the temperature in the room. If the unit seems to not be heating properly, increase the desired temperature on the heater to fully engage the heating elements.

If none of the above solves the problem, contact a qualified technician. Do not try to adjust or repair the heater/fan yourself.

LIMITED WARRANTY

Any repair, replacement, or warranty service, and all questions about this product should be directed to W Appliance Co. at 844-299-0879 from the USA or Puerto Rico.

W Appliance Co. warrants to the original purchaser that the product will be free from defects in material, parts and workmanship for the period designated for this product. The warranty commences the day the product is purchased and covers up to a period of 1 year (12 months) for labor/1 year (12 months) for parts (manufacturing defects only).

W Appliance Co. agrees that it will, at its option, replace the defective product with either a new or remanufactured unit equivalent to your original purchase during the warranty period.

EXCLUSIONS: THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO THE BELOW:

  1. If the appearance or exterior of the product has been damaged or defaced, altered or modified in design or construction.
  2. If the product original serial number has been altered or removed or cannot be readily determined.

  8. To products used in a commercial or rental setting.
  9. To products used in settings other than ordinary household use or used other than in accordance with the provided instructions.
  10. To damages for service calls for improper installations.
  11. Transportation and shipping costs associated with the replacement of the unit.
  12. Service calls to instruct you how to use your product.
  13. Service calls to repair or replace the house fuse, reset the circuit breaker or correct the wiring in the house.

Repair or replacement as provided under this warranty is the exclusive remedy of the customer; w appliance co. Shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages for breach of any express or implied warranty on this product, except to the extent prohibited by applicable law. Any implied warranty of merchantability of fitness for a particular purpose on this product is limited to the duration of the warranty.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitations of incidental or consequential damages, or limitations on how long the warranty lasts. In these cases the above exclusions or limitations may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

FAQs

Does it have a fan that blows air, if so how powerful is the air flow?****

This is a heater. It will blow warm air but it like a fan if that’s what you are thinking.

Can this heater be run without a fan running?? I can’t be around heaters that has a fan running due to dust flying everywhere.****

No, but it isn’t a very forceful fan. It is very gentle. You hardly notice that it is going.

is the voltage 110v if I need to deliver to china?****

Yes it is 110 Voltage.

what’s the voltage of this product? I need to send one as a gift for my friend in China , really need to know the voltage.****

It is 110 voltage and they will like this heater it puts out a lot of heat! I bought two for my house and I do not have central heat and air.

Is this heater quiet?****

It isn’t as quiet as a mouse but it won’t wake you up at 4:00 am by meowing in your face like my cat does.

What type of power cord Why does it require a 6ft power cord?****

This unit comes with a 6-foot power cord already attached. Just plug in and turn on, unless your power outlet is more than six feet away.

How this compares (in terms of heat output, noise level) to pelonis 22″ 1500w ceramic two position tower electric space heater pcw15-17br?****

We use it to heat a closed in back porch which is 16′ X 16′ and it does a good job. We have only used it a few times but we are happy with it.

Can it be used as primary heat****

I feel if you have a SMALL room ,.. Yes you can. I have this in our 4-seasons room and our temps are dipping into the teens at night. When I open the room up in the morning it’s cozy in there. It will run all night if the room isn’t WELL insulated.

Can you tell me how long is the power cord?****

The cord is no longer than about 3 feet.

How many square can it adequately heat?****

I have a 15’x6′ bathroom and it can adequately heat that in 10 minutes. In a larger room, it will only have any effect fairly close to where you want heated. Not very forceful fan.

How do I turn off the timer?****

It’s in the instruction book that comes with the heater.

Does it have tip-over safety switch?****

No – I just got one, and I can’t find a tip-over safety switch anywhere. I also tested and as far as I can tell it does not turn off when it tips over at a pretty wide variety of angles.

Is it safe for birds? And Teflon parts or components?****

It is safe for birds, there are no external moving parts.

Does the thermostat work on low?****

Yes, I turn ours down when we are not home to 50 degrees, just in case our central heating goes out.

How is your electric bill after using this for a couple of months? The space heater I have now caused my bill to increase by over $150…****

I haven’t experienced any abnormal increase in my electric bill.
