GARDENA 9881 Battery Grass Shear Shrub Shear
OPERATION
DANGER!
Cutting injury due to the blade!
Risk of cut injury due to accidental starting.
- Use gloves.
- Wait for the blade to stop.
- Slide the protective cover over the blade.
To charge the battery [ Fig. O1 ]
CAUTION!
The voltage of the power source must match the voltage specified on the rating plate of the charger.
- Note the mains voltage
The battery should be fully charged before using for the first time.
Charging time (TECHNICAL DATA).
The lithium-ion battery can be recharged in any state of charge, and the charging process can be interrupted at any time without damaging the battery (no memory effect).
The battery shear does not function while charging.
- Plug the power supply unit (C) into a mains socket.
- Plug the charging cable (1) into the jack (Lc) of the battery shear. When the jack (Lc) blinks green the battery is being charged. When the jack (Lc) lights permanently green the battery is completely charged.
- Examine the charge status regularly while you charge.
- When the battery is completely charged, pull the charging cable (1) out of the jack (Lc).
- Unplug the power supply unit (C) from the mains socket.
To change the blade [ Fig. O2 ]:
Only the GARDENA blade may be used.
- GARDENA Grass and Boxwood blade Art. 9850-00.962.00
- GARDENA Shrub blade Art. 9851-00.962.00
- Pull the flap (4) upwards and slide the lid (5) downwards.
- Remove the blade (6).
- If necessary clean the transmission chamber and lubricate the excentric drive (8) with some acid-free grease (Vaseline).
- Turn the excentric drive (8) downwards.
- Slide the crank (9) on the back side of the blade (6) in the middle.
- Put the other blade (6) on the motor unit in such a way that the excentric drive (8) is inserted in the crank (9).
- Slide the lid (5) upwards until the connection audibly engages. Make sure that the lid is engaged.
To start / to stop the battery shear [ Fig. O1 ]:
DANGER!
Risk of physical injury!
Risk of injury if the product does not stop when the start lever is released.
- Do not bypass the safety devices or switches.
- For example do not attach the start lever to the handle.
To start the battery shear:
The product is provided with a safety device (start lever and safety interlock) to prevent the product from being turned on by accident
- Remove the protective cover (7) of the blade (6).
- Slide the safety interlock (2) forward and pull the start lever (3) towards the handle. The battery shear starts.
- Release the safety interlock (2).
To stop the battery shear:
- Release the start lever (3). The battery shear stops.
- Wait for the blade to stop.
- Slide the protective cover (7) over the blade (6).
MAINTENANCE

- Use gloves.
- Wait for the blade to stop.
- Slide the protective cover over the blade.
To clean the battery shear:
DANGER!
Risk of injury!
Risk of injury and risk of damage to the product.
- Do not clean the product with water or with a water jet (in particular high-pressure water jet).
- Do not clean with chemicals including petrol or solvents. Some can destroy critical plastic parts.
- Clean the battery shear with a damp cloth.
- Spray the blade with e.g. the GARDENA
Cleaning
Spray Art. 2366. Thereby avoid contact of the oil with the plastic parts.
To clean the battery power supply unit
- Do not use running water.
- Clean the contacts and the plastic parts with a soft and dry cloth.
STORAGE
To put into storage:
The product must be stored away from children.
- Slide the protective cover over the blade.
- Charge the battery.
- Clean the battery shear and the battery power supply unit (see 2. MAINTENANCE).
- Store the battery shear in a dry, enclosed and frost-free place.

TECHNICAL DATA
Note: The stated vibration emission value has been measured according to a standardized test procedure and can be used for comparison of one electric power tool with with another. It can also be used for preliminary evaluation of exposure. The vibration emission value can vary during actual use of the electric power tool depending on the ways in which the machine is used. As a safety measure, you should work with the machine for a maximum of 1 hour without interruption.

DISPOSAL
Disposal of the battery shear:
(in accordance with Directive 2012/19/EU / S.I. 2013 No. 3113) The product must not be disposed of to normal household waste. It must be disposed of in line with local environmental regulations.
IMPORTANT!
- Dispose of the product through or via your local recycling collection centre.
Disposal of the battery:
The battery contains lithium-ion cells that should not be disposed of with normal household waste at the end of its life.
IMPORTANT!
The battery may only be removed by qualified personnel.
- If you have any questions regarding the removal of the battery, please contact the GARDENA Service.
- Dispose of the lithium-ion cells properly via or through your local recycling collection center.
