Safety

General safety instructions
Read all safety instructions and other instructions. Keep all safety instructions and other instructions for future reference.

  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when working with the product. Do not use the product while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating the product can result in serious personal injury.
  • Maintain power tools and accessories carefully. Check that moving parts operate satisfactorily and do not jam, and whether any parts are broken or so damaged that the correct operation of the power tool is adversely affected. If parts are damaged, have the parts repaired before using of the tool. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
  • Do not expose the product to rain or moisture. Water entering an electric device will increase the risk of electric shock.
  • Have the product repaired only by qualified specialists using only genuine Hilti spare parts. The safety of the module can thus be maintained.
  • Keep the product out of reach of children.

Product-specific safety instructions

  • Check the contents of the packaging. Make sure that nothing is damaged and that the contents are complete. If you notice defects or shortcomings that could impair the operability of the product, have them rectified by qualified personnel.
  • Make sure that the product is correctly installed and secured.

Additional safety instructions

  • When attaching to a power tool, make sure that grips and other gripping surfaces are not obstructed and that you can still hold the power tool securely.
  • Do not attach the remote control unit to rotating parts of power tools and do not attach it to parts of the body, such as a hand or an arm.
  • Although the product complies with the strict requirements of the valid directives, Hilti cannot entirely rule out the possibility of the product causing interference due to powerful electromagnetic radiation. This can lead to incorrect operation. Similarly, Hilti cannot exclude the possibility of interference with other electrical devices (e.g. aircraft navigation devices).

Careful handling and use of button-cell batteries

  • Never swallow button-cell batteries. Severe internal caustic burns or death can result within 2 hours of swallowing a button-cell battery.
  • Make sure that button-cell batteries are inaccessible to children. Call a poison control center to obtain information on treatment if there is any suspicion that a button-cell battery has been swallowed or inserted into a body orifice.
  • Use only the button-cell batteries stated in these operating instructions. Do not use any other button-cell batteries or other power supply.
  • Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable button-cell batteries. The button-cell battery can develop a leak, explode, catch fire and injure persons.
  • Do not force-discharge, charge, disassemble or incinerate the button-cell battery. Do not heat the button-cell battery to a temperature above the maximum temperature stated by the manufacturer. Otherwise there is a risk of injury by degassing, leakage or explosion leading to chemical burns.
  • Remove discharged button-cell batteries and recycle or dispose of them immediately in accordance with your local regulations. Keep button-cell batteries out of reach of children. Do NOT dispose of button-cell batteries in household waste and do not incinerate them. Discharged button-cell batteries can develop leaks and so damage the product or injure persons.
  • Even discharged button-cell batteries can lead to serious injuries or death. Do not treat discharged button-cell batteries with less care than new batteries.
  • Do not bring a damaged button-cell battery into contact with water. In the presence of water, escaping lithium can produce hydrogen and so lead to a fire or an explosion, or cause injury to persons.

Intended use
The product described is a Bluetooth receiver module with remote control unit that can be retrofitted to Hilti vacuum cleaners. It is designed to enable wireless on/off control of the vacuum cleaner. The remote control unit is designed for mounting on a suction hose.

Items supplied
Wireless remote control, receiver module, securing screw (2 of), rubber band for attachment, operating instructions. Other system products approved for use with this product can be found at your local Hilti Store or at: www.hilti.group

Bluetooth®
The Bluetooth ® word mark and logos are registered trademarks owned by Bluetooth SIG, Inc and any use of such marks by Hilti Corporation is under license. Bluetooth is a wireless data transfer system by which the two Bluetooth-enabled products can communicate with each other over a short distance. The Hilti Bluetooth module comes paired ex-works to the accompanying remote control unit and automatically establishes the connection when switched on.

BLE-Mute function
The BLE-Mute function temporarily interrupts wireless communication between remote control unit and the receiver module installed on the vacuum cleaner. Activate this mode for transport in aircraft, for example, and for working in facilities such as hospitals.

  • To activate the BLE-Mute function: Press the ON/OFF operating button and hold it down for 10 seconds.
  • To deactivate the BLE-Mute function: Press the ON/OFF operating button and hold it down for 3 seconds. Deactivating the BLE-Mute function automatically triggers pairing mode to restore the paired wireless link between remote control unit and receiver module.

Signals issued by LED indicator
Both remote control unit and receiver module have an LED indicator that can issue signals indicative of various operating states. The LED in the remote control unit also lights up when you press the ON/OFF operating button.

The following LED signals can occur:

LED signal Meaning
Remote control unit or receiver module: LED does not light up Option A: BLE-

Mute function is activated.

Option B: Button-cell battery state of charge is too low or the receiver module is not correctly installed in the vacuum cleaner.

Receiver module:

LED pulsates (approx. 2-second interval)

| Remote control unit and receiver module are paired and functioning correctly.

This state is the normal operating mode.

Remote control unit or receiver module: LED quick-flashes| Pairing mode is active.

Remote control unit and receiver module are paired ex- works. The signal indicating normal operating mode appears directly on initial start-up.

Operation

Installing receiver module 2
Always use a screwdriver for tightening and loosening the securing screws. Tighten the securing screws no more than hand-tight. Before engaging the threads, turn each screw a half-turn counterclockwise so that the screw is snug in the lead-in of the thread. This precaution helps prevent excessive wear of the screw head and the screw boss.

  1. Remove the 2 securing screws from the blanking cover on the vacuum cleaner.
  2. Remove the blanking cover.
  3. Plug the connector into the port.
    • Note the coding of the plug-in connection.
    • The connector is engaged.
  4. Insert the receiver module into the mount.
  5. Secure the receiver module with the 2 securing screws.
  6. Hold the remote control unit in position on the suction hose.
  7. Fix the remote control unit firmly in position with the rubber band for attachment.

Pairing remote control unit and receiver module
The remote control unit and receiver module in a set are paired ex-works. You can pair two products manually, for example when you replace or retrofit either of the two components. Pairing mode is also activated whenever you deactivate the BLE-Mute mode.

  1. On each of the two products to be paired (remote control unit and receiver module), press the operating button and hold both buttons down for 3 seconds.
    • The LED indicator (on remote control unit and receiver module) flashes. For a maximum of 30 seconds, the products search for a matching pairing partner. If there is no matching pairing partner in range, pairing mode is aborted.
  2. Wait until the pairing procedure has completed.
    • Pairing has completed as soon as the LED indicator (on the receiver module) starts to pulsate.

Using remote control unit
The remote control unit enables on/off control of the vacuum cleaner at a distance. The rubber band for attachment enables you to attach the remote control unit to the suction hose or a power tool. Make sure that you do not obstruct gripping surfaces or safety devices.

  1. Set the vacuum cleaner to Bluetooth operation.
    • Follow the instructions in the operating instructions for the vacuum cleaner.
  2. To switch on or off, press the ON/OFF operating button.

Changing battery (remote control unit)

  1. Open the cover of the battery compartment cover with a suitable instrument (e.g. coin).

  2. Remove the discharged battery.

  3. Insert the new battery, with the + pole facing up, into the battery compartment.
    Battery type: CR2032 button cell

  4. Close the battery compartment with the cover.
