Using Your Kambrook Deep Fryer
BEFORE FIRST USE
- Remove the lid from the deep fryer.
- Remove the frying basket, control panel with attached element and deep fryer bowl from the stainless steel housing.
- The frying basket has a hinged handle and is designed for compact storage. Pull the handle up and away from the basket until it is locked into place.
- Thoroughly clean the lid, basket and deep fryer bowl with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive, soft scouring pad, rinse and dry thoroughly. Wipe the stainless steel housing with a damp cloth and reinsert the deep fryer bowl into the stainless steel housing.
- Hold the handle at the rear of the control panel and slide the control panel with the attached element into the stainless steel housing. Ensure the pins located on the control panel are inserted into the grooves on the outside of the stainless steel housing. (Fig.1)
NOTE
The lid and control panel can only be inserted one way.
WARNING
When assembling your deep fryer for use, ensure the pins on the control panel
are inserted into the grooves on the back of the stainless steel housing.
The deep fryer will not operate unless correctly assembled.
Operating Your Deep Fryer
-
Place assembled deep fryer on a dry, level surface. Ensure the deep fryer is not close to the edge of the bench top and that the power cord does not extend over the edge.
-
Remove the lid and lift the frying basket out from the deep fryer bowl.
-
Pour oil into the deep fryer bowl.
The amount of oil should not be below the minimum level mark or exceed the maximum level mark inside the deep fryer bowl.
CAUTION
Always add required amount of oil to the deep fryer up to, but not exceeding the internal MAX marking in the deep fryer bowl BEFORE switching the power on at the power point.
WARNING
Do not fill with oil above the MAX marking in the bowl. -
Replace the deep fryer lid.
-
Unwrap the power cord from the cord storage compartment found on the back of the deep fryer.
Plug the power cord into a 230V or 240V power outlet. Ensure the cord is fully extended and switch ON at the power outlet. -
Turn the temperature control dial to the desired temperature. The red ‘HEATING’ light will illuminate.
-
Preheat the oil at the desired temperature until the green ‘READY’ light illuminates. Allow the green ‘READY’ light to cycle on and off several times for the oil to reach an even temperature.
NOTE
The green ‘READY’ light will continue to cycle on and off during operation to maintain the set temperature throughout the cooking process. -
Once the oil has preheated, place the basket into the holding position on the fryer by resting onto the silver hook on the inner rim of the bowl. Ensure that the basket handle is locked in the extended position prior to use.
-
Add the food into the basket. Do not fill the basket more than two thirds full.
-
Remove the basket from the holding position by using the handle to lift the basket off the hook and gently lower into the oil.
NOTE
Care should be taken when lowering food in the frying basket into the hot oil. Some splattering may occur.
WARNING
Never add water or any other liquid to the hot oil as this will cause severe splattering and spitting. Take care when deep frying aged icy food products as this may cause the hot oil to spit. -
Place the lid onto the deep fryer.
If desired, you may choose to cook with the lid on or off, or as per recipe guidelines. -
Once cooking is complete, using the handle, raise the basket slowly out of the oil and drain in the holding position.
-
If further cooking is required, allow the deep fryer to reheat until the green ‘READY’ light illuminates.
-
When cooking is complete, turn the temperature control dial to the ‘OFF’ position, switch the power off at the power outlet and remove the power plug from the power outlet.
-
Lift the basket away from the deep fryer bowl. Place the food on a heat resistant plate or tray lined with kitchen paper to absorb any excess oil.
-
Allow the deep fryer to completely cool before emptying the oil or cleaning.
WARNING
This product must be filled with oil to the correct marked level.
The product will be severely damaged if heated without oil in the deep fryer
bowl.
CAUTION
The deep fryer will generate a lot of heat and steam during and after the
cooking process.
To prevent the risk of burns, do not touch or block the steam ventilation area
on the lid.
NOTE
Do not overfill the basket with food; too many items will lower the oil
temperature and may cause the food to absorb oil and not cook properly.
NOTE
Ensure the oil has reached the selected temperature before lowering food into
the oil. Food cooked in oil that has not reached the correct temperature will
absorb more oil and become soggy. Food should be of uniform size when placed
in the basket to ensure even cooking. Wet foods should be patted dry before
adding to the basket to decrease the amount of water coming into contact with
the oil.
Auto Cut-Out Reset Button
Always add the required amount of oil to the removable deep fryer bowl, not
exceeding the MAX marking, BEFORE switching the power on at the power outlet.
An auto cut-out safety switch will be activated if the unit is turned on
without oil in the deep fryer bowl.
To reset the deep fryer, let the deep fryer cool completely and then press the
reset button on the back of the control panel above the cord storage.

Tips for Deep Frying
Hints & Tips
Food should be crisp when deep fried. If results are soggy, this can be
attributed to one or more of the following:
- Not enough preheating time.
- Temperature setting is too low.
- Too much food in the basket (do not fill more than two thirds full).
- Using liquid oil that is not recommended for deep frying e.g. olive oil.
- Oil can be re-used several times before it starts to break down (smoke point decreases, i.e., the oil will burn at a lower temperature, so fried food will be less crisp).
After use, filter the cooled oil through a fine sieve then store in an airtight container in a dark place.
Examples of materials that can be used as a fine sieve include new Chux® cloth, paper coffee filter or clean cotton material.
NOTE
Fats that quickly deteriorate, such as lard or fat drippings, are not
recommended. Deep frying in butter or margarine is also not recommended
because of the low smoke-point temperature.
Care, Cleaning and Storage
CAUTION
Never immerse the stainless steel housing, control panel or cord in water or
any other liquid.
- Before cleaning, turn the control dial to the OFF position and turn off at the power outlet and unplug the power cord.
- Allow oil to cool completely. Oil will retain its temperature for a long time after use. Do not attempt to move or carry the deep fryer, element and control panel while it is hot.
- Oil should be filtered after each use and stored in a clean, air-tight container in a cool area. Good quality oil can be used several times. Do not store the oil in the deep fryer. Discard used oil in a sealed container with household waste. Do not pour down a sink or drain.
How to Clean Deep Fryer
-
After oil is removed from the deep fryer bowl, remove the control panel with attached element from the bowl.
-
Place the element onto kitchen paper to absorb excess oil. Wipe the element with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
-
Remove the deep fryer bowl from the stainless steel housing.
-
Wash the frying basket, deep fryer bowl and lid in hot, soapy water.
Rinse and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. -
The exterior of the stainless steel housing and control panel can be cleaned with a slightly dampened cloth and mild dishwashing liquid.
NOTE
The deep fryer bowl, frying basket and lid are dishwasher safe.
NOTE
Do not use any abrasive scouring pads, such as steel wool, to clean the enamel
surface of the deep fryer bowl.
NOTE
Ensure all parts are dry before use.
