Tips and additional information

  • The overheating protection automatically switches off the rice cooker in case of overheating. If too little water is used, the appliance will switch off automatically before the end of the cooking time; the rice is then generally not cooked yet. Unplug the appliance and let it cool down in a well-ventilated area for about 45 minutes.
  • Do not keep the rice warm for more than 12 hours. Otherwise, odours may develop and the rice may turn yellowish and dry out.
  • Do not unplug in KEEP WARM mode. First switch off the appliance using the KEEP WARM / ON-OFF button.
  • Risotto cannot be kept warm as it will become sticky.
  • Do not use the KEEP WARM heat modes for mixed rice, brown rice, sweet rice or sprouted brown rice, as this may cause the rice to go bad or develop odours.
  • There may be a slight burned-on layer on the bottom of the inner pan. This can be removed by soaking the pan with hot water and washing-up liquid after cooking and then scrubbing it thoroughly clean.
  • Remove the plug from the socket after use.

Cooking brown rice takes longer and requires more water than white rice because of the extra bran layers on the grains. The water lines in the inner pan are for white rice only. Brown rice, wild rice, and rice mixes differ in composition. Some variations may require longer cooking time and/or extra water to achieve optimal results. Recommendations for cooking can be found on the rice packaging of the chosen rice variety.

Put no more than 7 cups of uncooked rice or 6 cups of brown rice in the pan at a time. The maximum capacity of this appliance is 7 cups of uncooked rice (6 cups of brown rice). After cooking, the volume will have increased to 14 cups of rice (12 cups of brown rice).

Cleaning and sanitising

  • Remove the plug from the socket. Before cleaning, the appliance must have cooled down sufficiently after use. To avoid accidents, do not pour out the liquid until it has cooled down sufficiently. Never immerse the device in water, as this may damage it.

  • Clean the parts with a mild detergent and a little warm water.
Dry the parts thoroughly before reusing them. Do not use scouring pads or aggressive liquids to clean the appliance.

  • Washing in the dishwasher may cause slight discolouration of the inner pan and accessories. This is cosmetic only and does not affect performance.

Troubleshooting

Since rice varieties can vary in composition, results may differ. Here are some troubleshooting tips to get the consistency you want.

Rice is too dry/hard after cooking
If your rice is dry or hard/tough when the rice cooker switches to KEEP WARM, the rice can be softened by extra water and extra cooking time. Depending on how dry the rice is, add ½ to 1 cup of water and stir. Replace the lid and press the WHITE RICE button. When the rice cooker switches to KEEP WARM, remove the lid and stir the rice to check for consistency. If necessary, repeat until the rice is soft and moist.

Rice is too moist after cooking
If the rice is still too moist when the rice cooker switches to KEEP WARM, stir the rice with the spatula. This redistributes the lowest (wettest) part of the rice and releases excess moisture. Replace the lid and let it heat up for 10 to 30 minutes, remove the lid, and stir frequently to remove excess moisture.

The bottom rice layer is brown/caramelised
The bottom layer of cooked rice can become slightly browned and/or caramelised during cooking. To reduce browning, rinse your rice before cooking to remove excess starch. Stirring the rice after setting it to KEEP WARM also helps reduce browning/caramelisation.
