Small pieces of shredded paper could get into the interior of the shredder and waste bin. This is normal. All HP shredders are tested at the factory to ensure the required quality.

Positioning the Shredder and Starting It Up

The shredder only operates when the waste bin supplied is fitted. Do not position the shredder near any sources of heat and maintain a distance of at least 10 cm to walls. This ensures the shredder is sufficiently cooled.

  1. Set the shredder down on a stable, level, horizontal surface and in the vicinity of an easily accessible power socket.

  2. Slide the waste bin in the device.
The waste bin latches audibly in place with a click. If the waste bin is not fitted in the device properly, the shredder cannot be switched on.
Only use the power cable supplied.

  3. Connect the power plug to a power socket.

  4. Switch the device on by pressing the ″Power (On/Off)″ button.
The ″Ready″ status LED lights up blue.
You have put the shredder into operation.

Operating the Shredder

The shredder works using an automatic shredding mechanism. The shredder is operated using the operating buttons on the top of the device. Observe the maximum permissible cutting capacity and other specifications defined in Section Technical Data.

This device is not intended to be used by children. Prevent hands, clothes and hair coming into contact with the insertion slot. Unplug the power plug if the device will not be used for a longer period. This device is equipped with hazardous moving parts, so ensure you keep limbs well away from the moving parts.

Attention!
Remove any paper clips, staples, rubber bands and other foreign bodies from the material before inserting it in the shredder. Do not insert any unopened or folded correspondence in the automatic infeed. Shred individual sheets of paper in the manual infeed.

Shredding Material Manually

Important!

It is recommended to insert maximally 13 sheets of paper at a time or credit cards individually.

  1. Insert the material to be shredded in the centre of the manual infeed slot.
The manual infeed slot draws the material in automatically and stops when no more material is fed in.
On rare occasions, it is possible that the sensors do not detect the material inserted.

  2. Press the ″Forward″ button and keep it pressed.
The material is then drawn in and shredded.

  3. Release the ″Forward″ button.
The operating cycle of the manual infeed is 15 minutes.

Shredding Material Using the Automatic Infeed

  1. Take hold of the front edge of the automatic infeed and open it completely.
  2. You can lay up to 200 sheets of paper in the automatic infeed.
The material is then drawn in individually and shredded.
The device stops when there is no more material in the automatic infeed.
The operating cycle of the automatic infeed is 60 minutes.

Switching the Shredder Off
Switch the shredder off when you no longer need to use it.

  1. Switch the device off by pressing the ″Power (On/Off)″ button.
    The shredder is switched off.
