- Setting as Receiver: Press the RX button to set the speaker as a receiver and ensure there is a nearby TX (transmitter) speaker to receive the audio source. For more detailed setup information, please refer to the “Multiroom Setup” section.
Multiroom Setup
The Petastream S20 Speaker offers a versatile multiroom audio experience
through its TX and RX modes, enabling you to share music across multiple
speakers. To use the Multiroom Setup feature, you must have at least two S20
units or use the S20 in conjunction with other SKAA-enabled devices. This
setup allows for an expanded and flexible audio experience in various
environments.
Here’s how to set it up:
TX Mode (Setting the First Speaker as Transmitter)
- Activating SKAA Function: In a state where Bluetooth or AUX is already connected, press the TX button. The LED below the TX button will light up in blue, indicating that the SKAA function is activated, allowing music to be transmitted to linked RX units.
- Connecting Multiple Speakers: One S20 unit in TX mode can connect to up to four S20 units set as RX receivers, allowing a total of five speakers to play the same music.
Press the TX button again to turn off the SKAA function and use the speaker as a standalone unit.
RX Mode (Setting the Second and Subsequent Speakers as Receivers)
- Enabling RX Mode: Press the RX button. The LED will light up in blue, and the LED on the Search button will also illuminate, indicating the device is set as a receiver.
- Single Audio Source: Upon entering RX mode, both Bluetooth and AUX connections will automatically disconnect. The S20 will only receive signals from the TX unit.
A single S20 unit cannot be set as both TX and RX simultaneously.
Switching Between Multiple TX Units
In scenarios where multiple TX speakers are within the reception range of a RX
speaker, the Search button facilitates switching the receiving TX. Pressing
the Search button once or twice on the RX speaker allows it to locate and
switch to a different TX source within about three seconds. Users are advised
to play different music on each TX speaker, making it easier to discern which
TX is currently connected to the RX by the music it plays. For a detailed
guide on operating the Search button, please refer to the “Search Button
Operations” section.
Search Button Operations
Search mode activates automatically when you enter RX mode.

Wired Connection Expansion
The S20 speaker offers the flexibility to connect multiple speakers using a
line-out feature. While it can receive audio from only one source (Bluetooth,
AUX, or RX) at a time, it can output through two methods simultaneously. For
example, set one S20 as a TX and use a line-out connection with a 3.5mm audio
cable to another speaker. This setup enables more than five speakers to play
music simultaneously.
Compatibility with Other SKAA Devices
The S20 speaker is compatible with various devices using SKAA wireless
technology. It can function as either a transmitter to send signals to other
SKAA devices or as a receiver to accept signals from them. Compatible SKAA
devices include but are not limited to SKAA speakers, standalone SKAA senders
or receivers, and SKAA dongles/converters.
Multiroom Speaker Quick Setup
Setup 1: Bluetooth Input with TX/RX Mode
Setting up the S20 in “Bluetooth Input with TX/RX Mode” involves these steps:
- Preparation: You’ll need at least two S20 units and a Bluetooth-enabled audio device (like a smartphone, laptop, or tablet).
- Setting up TX (Transmitter): Power on the first S20, press the Bluetooth button, and pair it with your audio device via Bluetooth.
- Activating TX Mode: Press the TX button on the first S20’s panel, and the TX light will illuminate.
- Setting up Other S20s as RX (Receivers): Power on another S20, press the RX button, and both the RX and Search Button lights will turn on. The RX will automatically search for a nearby TX and sync to play the same music.
Setup 2: AUX Input with TX/RX Mode
Setting up the S20 in “AUX Input with TX/RX Mode” involves these steps:
- Preparation: Two or more S20 units, an audio device with AUX output, and a 3.5mm Male to Male Stereo Jack Speaker Cable.
- Setting up TX (Transmitter): Turn on the first S20, press the AUX button, connect it to the audio device with the AUX cable.
- Activating TX Mode: Press the TX button on the first S20; the TX light will turn on.
- Setting up RX (Receivers): Power on another S20, press the RX button, and both RX and Search Button lights will illuminate. RX will search for a nearby TX to sync music
Setup 3: Ingeniously Using AUX and SKAA to Connect More S20 Speakers
This setup demonstrates expanding your multiroom speaker system by creatively
using AUX and SKAA connections.
The diagram shows how one of the RX units in the first multiroom speaker group uses its LINE OUT to feed the audio into another S20. This second S20, receiving the AUX audio, is then set as a TX to establish a new, separate multiroom speaker group. This technique allows for even larger and more versatile audio setups.
Switching Channels (Audio Channel Configuration)
The Petastream S20 Speaker offers versatile audio channel settings, allowing
users to choose between stereo, left, or right sound channels. This is easily
configured using the Channel Switch (Button 15). Whether you prefer the
immersive experience of stereo sound or the specific orientation of left or
right channels, this feature enhances your audio experience. Please note, this
feature only affects the speakers of that particular S20 unit and does not
influence its output or intercom functionality.
Intercom Functionality
The Petastream S20 Speaker is equipped with a sophisticated intercom system,
allowing for clear, reliable communication across different rooms or areas.
This system is ideal for both home and business environments, providing an
effective way to communicate without needing to be in the same room.
Using the Intercom
- Powering On: Ensure the speaker is turned on using the Power Switch (Button 1).
- Activating the Intercom: Press the Intercom Power Switch (Button 12) to activate the intercom function.
- Speaking: Press and hold the Intercom Talk Button (Button 9) to speak. The microphone (Button 8) captures your voice clearly.

- Power Off: To prevent the intercom from interrupting music playback, you can choose to turn off the intercom power using the Intercom Power Switch (Button 12).
Reducing Intercom Echo
This guide offers straightforward steps to minimize or eliminate echo,
ensuring clear communication between the S20 speakers. Follow these
instructions to optimize your intercom experience.
- Place both intercoms in their intended location. Because distance affects echo levels, it’s recommended to place the intercoms in their intended use locations to address the issue.
- Increase the volume on both intercoms to maximum so you can hear the conversation from the other unit; it’s okay if there’s echo at this stage.
- On the talking intercom (TALK SIDE). press and hold the TALK button to check for echo on the listening intercom (LISTEN SIDE).
- If there’s echo on LISTEN SIDE, release the TALK button on TALK SIDE and lower the volume on LISTEN SIDE by pressing the volume down button two or three times.
- Press the TALK button on the TALK SIDE again to check for echo on the LISTEN SIDE.
- If echo persists on the LISTEN SIDE, repeat steps 3 to 5: releasing the TALK button on the TALK SIDE and adjusting the volume on the LISTEN SIDE, until the echo is eliminated.
