Operation
For best cleaning results, we recommend placing the tip between the two brushes for just 1 second. Longer exposure time would lead to duetting of tip surface causing oxidation.
If excessive pressure is applied with the tool against any of the brushes, the cleaner stops automatically in order to protect the motors. Putting the tool out of the sensor detection area automatically deactivates the cleaner.
The tip cleaner is automatically switched off if the splashguard is opened during operation.
Set Up
CLMU/CLMUP allows you to choose between continuous operation and sensor operation.
The tip cleaner contains a sensor that detects when the soldering cartridge approaches the window and automatically starts the brush rotation.
You can choose between 3 different settings for sensor operation:
Level 1 – for a short detection distance
Level 2 – for a medium detection distance (default)
Level 3 – for a long detection distance
Levels can be selected as follows:
- Turn on the tip cleaner by pressing the On / Off key.
- Push the “Sensor Mode” key until the interior light and keypad LEDs make one, two or three blinks. The number of blinks indicates the selected level.
- Push the sensor mode button to change to the next level. If the button is held down, the level changes continuously to the next one until the button is released (changes from level 1 to 2, from 2 to 3 and from 3 to 1).
The level configuration is saved by the tip cleaner and will not be changed after the device is restarted.
Changing Brushes
Before opening the tip cleaner, unplug it from the mains.
Open Splash guard
Pull the locking tab (1) to open the splash guard.
Removing / Inserting Brushes
Press the brush buttons (2) to remove the brushes (3).
Align the brushes with the axis and push them in until a click is heard (4). Check if the brushes are properly fixed.
Cleaning Solder Collection Tray
The tip cleaner features a solder collection tray. After cleaning place it back in its position (5)
Accessories: Brush Range
All brushes are offered with black and blue core, to distinguish them when working with lead-free and leaded solder.
Note: As a reference, the cleaning process should last around 1 second.
