WIRING INSTALLATION
All Coastal Source speakers feature our patented Coastal Connector™ for a waterproof direct burial connection. For connecting to a Coastal Source amplifier, just select the appropriate Uni-Connect 8C 16AWG cable lengths and Plug+Play™ the speakers to the amplifier. For situations where 3rd party speaker wire must be used, Coastal Source splice kits are available to adapt the Uni-Connect 8C 16AWG connections on the speaker to more conventional speaker wire.
CABLING RULES
- This speaker is designed for use with Uni-Connect 8C 16AWG cables and has (1) Uni-Connect 8C input connection.
- Uni-Connect 16 AWG cables can be run at a maximum distance of 300’ total without any significant degradation of performance.
- If longer lengths are required, please contact Coastal Source. Coastal Source systems ship preset for typical applications. Adjustments should only be made by certified dealers.
CONNECTING THE PLUG+PLAY™ CONNECTOR
- Align the key-way of the cable to the key-way of the connector and fully insert the cable into the connector. Carefully rotate the covering nut until the finger is tight.
- If the covering nut is cross-threaded, reverse rotation and carefully align the nut to re-thread.
SOUND TUNING
- Note that optimal sound tuning is subjective and specific to each listener so there are no hard and fast rules for optimizing the sound of a Coastal Source system.
- We have designed it with the flexibility to allow you to shape the sound to your personal preferences.
- The following information is offered as a brief guide. It is highly recommended to take the time to experiment and tune the system to achieve your desired sound.
- NOTE: Coastal Source outdoor audio systems are the clearest and most efficient on the market, but they are not designed to run at 100% volume full-time.
- If the system is going to be played at loud volumes for an extended time, Coastal Source recommends setting the volume to 75-80%.
SUBWOOFER PLACEMENT
- For hardscape applications, the integrated rubber feet provide isolation to prevent rattling.
- Since very low frequencies are omni-directional placement is less critical, but experimenting with placement is still recommended since proximity to walls and corners will have a significant effect on the bass output.
Open area
- Less bass response
Near a wall surface
- Heavy bass response. Low frequencies gather in corners and travel better through surfaces like the ground or walls than the air.
