Cornhole is an outdoor game that promises endless fun and excitement for friends and families alike. Here’s how to set up your game and start having a blast:
What’s Included:
2 Foldable Boards
4 Red Bags | 4 Blue Bags Carry Bag
Setup:
- Position the cornhole boards facing each other with approximately 10-27 feet between their front edges which is called the Foul Line. (The foul line distance between cornhole boards accommodates different skill levels and space limitations, making the game enjoyable for all players) (follow illustration)
- Players must stand in their pitcher’s box on the side of the boards behind the foul line, (follow illustration)
- Place all 8 bags on one side of the playing area, designated as the starting board.
- Divide the bags evenly among players, ensuring each player receives 4 identical bags.
Objective:
Be the first team to reach 21 points.
Scoring:
- In the hole 3 points
- On the board 1 point
Please note: During gameplay, bags may be displaced by other bags, either into the hole or off the board. The score for each inning is determined by the position of the bag at the end of the inning.
Cancelation Scoring
At the end of each inning, team scores are tallied using cancellation scoring, where the difference between the team’s scores at the end of each inning are the only points awarded for that inning. For instance, if team A accumulates 10 points and team B accrues 8 points at the end of an inning, team A is granted 2 points for that round, while team B receives 0 points for the same round.
Play:
- Players at the Pitcher’s box alternate pitching bags underhand toward the opposite board. Player 1 pitches one team bag, then player 2 pitches one team bag. Continue alternating until all bags have been tossed.
Note: Pitching players must stand in the pitcher’s box without crossing the front edge of the cornhole board. (follow illustration)
- Tally each team’s score. Use cancellation scoring to award the team score after an inning.
- Repeat the process with the players, at the opposite board.
- Add each inning score to the previous score for each team.
- The first team to reach 21 points wins!
Note: House rules regarding scoring may vary. One common rule is that the winning team cannot surpass 21 points. If a team exceeds 21 points, they revert to 13 or 15 points depending on which house rule you will use. For instance, if a team has 19 points and scores 3 more, they would revert to 13/15 points instead of winning.
